It's probably just wishful thinking :( that this year could see a real battle for the Xmas No1 spot, but the Muppets have had a shed load of youtube hits, and the RATM facebook group has enough members in theory to challenge.

Who do you think will bag this years No1, or if it's a foregone conclusion -_- who'll get the runners up spot?

#1 X Factor

#2 fingers crossed GaGa but I'm worried that this RATM campaign might work

I doubt any of those have the potential to sell 500k....

I suspect without Woolies, and with a weak song, the X Factor winner won't do much more than 200k max. :o

Edited by Ethan.

I don't think Beyoncé has a chance TBH, the Lady GaGa version of Video Phone has hardly been doing anything on Irish iTunes all week which is usually an indicator to how well it would do in the UK. Unless she's still performing it on X Factor, and with Lady GaGa that is

Doesn't the original version of 'The Climb' have more of a chance for #2 than 'Video Phone' by bookies odds? :)

1. X Factor

2. Muppets

:).

Yes. EMI have confirmed.

Awesome!

I reckon it'll come in at #3 in that case, behind XF and Rage.

Miley herself is still a possibility to climb at number two. Woo ironic :(

I think TXF will be #1, but I WANT RATM to be #1

I think RATM will be #2 due to the amount of publicity it has gained (thanks for the press conference simon ha!) and the publicity is still rising, I was very cynical of the campaign when I first heard about it, then it started getting press, now the group has far over 600,000 members, so yeah, I think it can make number 2 even without every member of the group buying it.

I really want the Muppets  That's funny and festive, whereas the RATM song is just horrible.

I was initially cynical about it, especially as it's release is on the same parent Sony record label that Syco release their records on. But now knowing that RATM's Tom Morello fully endorses the campaign changes everything.

Your face is just horrible.

maturity ftw.

I was mainly just cynical because what I said to my mate who told me when the group was just like 1000 members, 'There is more people already garenteed to buy the x factor single already than there is rage fans in the uk' and then the publicity came and the 500,000+ members, I got proved wrong, I was sort of backing it anyway, but since the big publicity, I think it's almost capable.

The awful x factor single will be no1...lady gaga probably no2 but I seriously hope the rage against the machine beat the awful x factor crap to the top. I would love to see simon cowell's face if that happens. He talks about how its not fair on the contestants but I think alot of people are sick of them releasing crappy cover versions every christmas and him milking it

I'm surprised anyone thinks Video Phone will get to #2 next week. It will struggle to go Top10 imo.

Is Beyonce promoting it on some TV program?

Must agree. if Beyonce is on the X Factor final as rumoured fair enough, but I can't see it being a big hit otherwise...
