KITN lead on Joe has narrowed from a 3.9/1 ratio to a 3.2/1 ratio. Wonder where it will chart next week, I can see it still being top10, what do you think?

 

If it gets number 1 on the officials, I think it will defo stay top 5 if not top 3 on the hype that it will recieve in the press and then falling down to around #15 the following. If it gets to number 2 on the officials later, I can see it falling to around #9 the following week and then out of top 40.

Exactly. The only BS is being talked by Xmas presence.

 

The easiest most recent example to look at is The Glee Cast - Don't Stop Believing which was nowhere inside the top 300 on Tuesday morning; yet when the E4 showing of the pilot episode from the huge 2009 US show was aired on Tuesday night it rapidly rose up the iTunes chart yet did not peak until Thursday afternoon at #27 nearly 48 Hours after the show was aired; before quickly descending on Friday after the initial Tuesday night sales had elapsed; the same thing has happened with songs performed on X-Factor all series long on Saturday evening not peaking until Monday afternoon; etc.

 

Besides as a regular subscriber to The Word magazine there was an excellent piece on the last decade's history for changes to music sales format which obviously included reference to the influence of downloads; and it stated that iTunes which is by far (although its market share is falling) the most dominant seller of downloads in the UK operates a rolling 48 Hours chart.

 

As for the live version of the RATM track on the unreliable (as I don't know what time mechanism period they use) livehits site at 9:00PM last night it was #4; now at 2:00PM it is #29.

This will be interesting now with RAGE. Joe for number 1 before the end of the year? Regardless of what happens today I hope so.

I think the ensuing media hype should keep RATM at #2.

If RATM keep these sales up they could end up with the biggest selling single of the year. If they beat Poker Face I will NOT be impressed. :(

I would be very surprised if they even get another 100k next week - I should expect they'll stay at #2 with the media hype though. Joe is still more of a threat to GaGa, but again, he'll be lucky to do another 250k next week I reckon.

well the hype of it being xmas #1 will keep it shifting huge numbers im expecting 200k next week.
