TBH Lungs IS the album of the year imo. But The E.N.D. and La Roux should be there too
hmmm... not a bad year for albums.

Reality killed the video star (The best IMO)

... the definition of BEST is a bit misty anyway I think. (lyrics, rhythm, music, creativity, innovation, vocals is what comes to my head)

Well you've shot yourself in the foot there then!!! ^_^

TBH this thread belongs in the Indie forum as you would get a better response there considering the sources you have drawn this list from.

From this lot:

The Horrors +3

Yeah Yeah Yeahs +2

Kasabian +1

I wouldn't give any of them -1 but f*** me are Grizzly Bear and Animal Collective overrated.

My favourite album of the year is probably A Place To Bury Strangers anyway.

I'll get back to this in March when I've listened and absorbed all these albums.
I haven't heard any

No album is ever good enough to become everyone's favorite otherwise we would have billion sellers evers year. We usually don't even have albums selling over 10milion coppies. Since you are reffering to a specific album -I guess you have listened to it- I can name all of the quallity elements I mentioned before in it, but the truth is that it won't make any difference. You cannot make sb appreciate a record by 'proving' its quallity, you either like it or you don't and I quess you don't. I don't like everything critics, awards etc recommend as well so I know how it works. I know a lot of people that think 'feel' is terrible , others that never liked Mariah Carey and other that hate MJ (I dont like him that much as well) :D anyway RKTVS is a good album for everyone (even if not great). it looks as if the bullet missed my leg

This is plainly untrue. You CAN make someone appreciate a record by proving or explaining it's quality.

I've started to like stuff when it's been explained to me how it was made and that it created by new or unusual ways.

I just took exception with your statement with your definition of The Best and then equating that with the Robbie album i.e innovative? lyrics? vocals? I have heard wounded Wildebeest with better voices and a more peotic bent than that lumbering gorilla who really should give it up and beg Take That to take him back.

And what utter BS is this?

anyway RKTVS is a good album for everyone (even if not great).

Don't ever assume what other people like!

I have stated my lack of interest in the Grizzly Bear and Animal Collective but I can appreciate why people like those records. Robbie's album is not even a good pop record (The Fame beats it hands down)

Robbie Williams' album is horrendous. His songs haven't changed. They sound like they all came off Escapology which is one of the worst albums I've ever heard.

His last album was much better. I dont understand why people are buying this new one in such quantities.

Awful list really...

Not going to argue on this anymore, this is a hating statement and a totally unfair one. Thats why I didn't explain how I think the album is successful on all elements I mentioned. Somebody who is so confident about all those negative things to write this piece would never accept any kind of proof of a records 'quality'. Bad pop album ,no lyrics, no vocals, terrible voice, not innovative, gorrila begging TT, I don't really think there is anyway we could agree on sth like that. Anyone with common sence would say this statement of yours is SO SO foul.

No it's not foul (just because it disses one of your favourite (?) artists), it is my opinion. It conveys my reaction to a piece of music honestly and truthfully because I have no time for dire pop music and in my opinion this album is very poor.

Only heard Lungs which is brilliant, don't like any of the other artists so haven't listened to their albums.

I understand you don't like it (1/2 of the people love them and the other 1/2 think he is overrated), but still your comments are too sharp. You really think that lyrically the album is poor? Musically as well? Also you see no creativity in it? I would've quessed you don't like pop music but the whole criticism on Fame beating hands down RKTVS and at the same time judging music lyrics and vocals is a bit weird. So the fame is lyrically musicaly and vocaly hands down better than RKTVS? And all of these albums also are...

It would be more fair to say it is an average album of a kind you dont like.

Although he is one of my fav artists if I didn't like the album for a b c reasons I would say it. I am neither fanatic nor stupid, and I don't get a share from the sales income

;)

How do you know you don't like an artist if you haven't even heard any their song?! The xx for example who debuted this year.

Where am i? I like Robbie much but i find this album really terrible.

I really like the new Robbie album, the first half a lot more than the second granted but Blasphemy is up there with his classic album tracks and Bodies and You Know Me are excellent singles

Well I honestly don't know... What do you like about him? Which album did you like? It is really weird because this album is definitey an attempt to call back all lost fans. It has a swing song, 2 rock-kind escapology ones, 2 sad intensive care ones, a bit of rudebox and some big ballads together with some new stuff. It has a bit of everything you could have once liked on him. Perhaps you should give the album one more chance.

Agreed, my favorite is morning sun. (Bodies was the obvious choice for a 1st single though)
