I don't really like either Replay or Riverside, but I hope that Replay gets to number 1. Also hoping that Florence + The Machine will get a number 1 album this week.

450k not bad not bad, should hit half a mil.

Well i hope leona wont have a greatest hits album till at least 10-15 years in toher career :D will be huge.

I think that was the right time for Will to release his Hits album.

I don't think Leona is doing too badly. Am I right in thinking she's sold over 3.5 Million albums in this country alone from the two albums she's released so far. She's only released one single from the second one and she's hardly been in this country since she won X-factor. I do wish people would give her credit for her talent a bit more. IMO she's got the second best voice to come out of any talent show.

Are there any figures for her total sales abroad?

Leona will have a HUGE hits album one day.

Do you think so? Things seem to be going a bit pearshaped at the moment for her.

I am not a fan of Leona but I do think she has got a brilliant voice and is very talented. It's a shame her last album did not do well outside Britain. In ma home country, Happy had a massive premiere on the radio, but faield to chart in Top 50 :o

If her record label released a decent single, I'm sure she'd be fine. Though I'm guessing they're reluctant to go with anything that isn't a dreary, boring ballad due to the poor response to 'Forgive Me' and that those sort of songs don't really shift albums [Look at Alexandra].

I'm really glad about Will though. Hopefully he makes a better album next time as his last one was a big let down for me.

Do you know where Paramore and Foo Fighters are in the albums please? :D

Yep, 3.5 million from two albums in the UK.

Spirit 6.6 million WW - 2.9 million from UK therefore 3.7 million from abroad.

Echo 0.9 million WW - 0.5 million from UK therefore 0.4 million from abroad.

I have to admit, I thought Wills' Hits would sink like a stone after Christmas. Can't wait for studio album 5 now though. Let It Go is an acquired taste, I love it, but it is quite downbeat, apart from Love and Are You Happy. Grace is his best song yet I think. His next album will be more upbeat from the sound of it :)

That's a huge drop from abroad :o What's going on there then

It's a shame that Replay will triumph over Riverside.

:o I didn't expect BR to pass YGTL and also it's nice to see Alicia Keys' album is on course for the top 10.

A combination of:-

(i) Bleeding Love outperforming Happy as a lead single; and

(ii) Spirit having been out for 2 years; Echo having been out for 2 months.

Thanks for those. Echo is a really good album. If Leona's team pick the right songs to release as second and third singles, she could end up selling very well again. Love her voice.

I agree Happy hasn't connected in the way BL has but I still think the problem is that Leona has failed to establish a solid fanbase in the UK. No one can give so little back to their fans & expect them to be gagging for her music when they return.

There were no rumours of a Robbie duet in the Spirit era. Cowell can't be happy.

The bigger the promo budget the increased need for big sales. Let's face it her sales abroad so far for Echo will hardly cover her air miles & hotel accommodation.

Leona does have a standout voice for her genre (though not to my musical taste). One word of advice I'd give her if she wants to gain credibility & longevity is ditch Cowelll & take more control of her own career.

Agree in 100%. ;)

All those XFactor acts need to runaway from Cowell. It's a shame they're tied up with a contract.

Valid points on the whole, however the tail-off from Spirit->Echo is actually far better than the tail-off in first-second album sales for every other X Factor winner. And that's based on sales to date so far - with the quality of material on Echo far surpassing that on Spirit as a collective whole, I think the end result will actually produce a smaller variance.

Anyway, back to the UK midweeks ... ;)

Thank god Riverside has dropped to #2. There is hope for a decent #1 to start the new decade off :D

Hi truly talented, i respect your opinion, a lot of people are saying she should ditch simon cowell, maybe she should.

She has had so much more involvement in Echo then she did with spirit, so we can expect the next album to have full tracks written by leona herself as she co-wrote majority of the album.

Leona has got a solid UK fanbase i think, thats why she has nearly sold 600,000 in 2 months off the back of Happy alone and XFactor, GMTV and Paul O Grady. If you think about it when spirit was out she fully focussed on the UK, doing endless promo and bleeding love was HUGE.

Echo will definitely sell 1million here in the UK, probably higher, but difference is with this being her second album she needs a little bit more time to get there.

She is currently filming IGY video so once shes finished doing that hopefully we'll get more promo and IGY will be supported well by radio.

She has live lounge coming up and hopefully performances on Dancing On Ice, Britains Got Talent & The Brits which will all boost echo sales :D

Anyway yeah lets go back to UK midweeks discussion :-P
