Posted January 6, 201015 yr Ok, so I have this arugment with my friends on the official Kylie forum. They said that Kylie's Top 10 run has ended with The One charted on No.36. I was shocked to hear that because I think EMI didn't want The One to chart at that time? And if EMI doesn't want that to chart, then it won't. So my question is: is "The One" chart-eligible?
January 6, 201015 yr I don't really understand your question tbh. It was on the chart so it was chart eligible :) If it wouldn't be chart eligible, it hadn't charted at number 36.
January 6, 201015 yr Author But I thought that EMI didn't want it to chart and thus it didn't chart at all?
January 6, 201015 yr It did chart, at #36. Excluding the Fever era, after the second single all Kylie singles are practically fanbase buys regardless of what it is, and she's one of the biggest physical single sellers out there, so they really shot themselves in the foot by cancelling the physical. Also they released a cheap video for it after it had fallen out of the top 75 weeks later, so it was a complete cock up. I don't know what this is about it "not being chart eligible", it charted, what more evidence is needed?
January 6, 201015 yr this is my favourite and one of the only kylie songs i like. shame it didn't chart higher. plus the freemasons remix is amazing!
January 6, 201015 yr I suppose what he is wondering is Kylie;s consecitibe run of 16 tops hits is officaly broken
January 6, 201015 yr If a record company doesn't WANT a song to chart, they can't completely ignore the fact that it DID and it did. So yes, it charted and her run is over :P Edited January 6, 201015 yr by Slick
January 6, 201015 yr But I thought that EMI didn't want it to chart and thus it didn't chart at all? well you can see it charted at number 36, so as Silver Rocket said, what more evidence do you need? If a song is chart ineligible, it doesn't chart at all, but it charted!!!!
