Spending 10 consecutive weeks in the top 100 but not top 75 was pretty cool I guess. It misses the top 10 by less than 20 points.
January 7, 201015 yr Author #10) BEYONCÉ – HALO [#4] 2,087 points // 37 weeks 98-98-88-40-20-9-4-5-7-6-8-10-10-15-17-20-23-26-32-36-53-53-48-38-44-43-48-51-63-69-79-90-81-86-82-x(3)-74-76-x gcMmRL6_r24 Opening up the top 10 with the highest entry for Bey. I hated this with a passion at first, but I quite like it now actually! It's musically almost identical to Kelly Clarkson's Already Gone, but then they're both written/produced by Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic.
January 7, 201015 yr Some surprising/weird entries in the top 20. Daniel Merriweather?! Akon?! So strange to think Single Ladies will only go down as a #7, when it's probably Beyonce's signature hit now.
January 7, 201015 yr Author #09) THE BLACK EYED PEAS – BOOM BOOM POW [#1] 2,144 points // 33 weeks 1-2-2-1-2-3-3-6-7-11-13-13-16-18-21-24-33-37-44-47-54-58-64-65-66-67-51-61-71-82-86-87-73- 4m48GqaOz90 The best E.N.D. single for me. The first of two songs to return to #1 in 2009. The follow-up I Gotta Feeling outperformed Boom Boom Pow in almost every aspect unfortunately. I wonder, if the Earth and the UK Chart still exist in 3008, if this song will get a boost? We'll see how Fergie (who is 'so 3008') and the gang compare to 3008 chart music. Well, not us, but the group of potentially super-powered humans who exist in the UK in 998 years' time. Edited January 7, 201015 yr by BrayFish
January 7, 201015 yr Author Some surprising/weird entries in the top 20. Daniel Merriweather?! Akon?! So strange to think Single Ladies will only go down as a #7, when it's probably Beyonce's signature hit now. If you keep in mind that this chart is mostly about stability and longevity (and being released earlier in the year preferably) and not peak position or sales, it's easier to understand how, say, Daniel Merriweather is in the top 20 whereas Cheryl Cole isn't.
January 7, 201015 yr Boom Boom Pow is quite alot better than the other $h!t singles that BEP released this year.
January 7, 201015 yr Author #08) LADY GAGA – PAPARAZZI [#4] 2,200 points // 38 weeks 99-95-x(11)-87-61-58-57-65-64-43-13-8-4-5-4-5-8-8-9-13-18-18-26-30-31-34-42-37-47-50-56-61-68-81-66-71-61-74-61- QgKrzdaDQMw Third single from her mega selling début album The Fame. 'Bad Romance' was not far off giving GaGa a perfect 5 out of 5 official singles in the top 100 - she was THAT big. This is the lowest of her three entries in the top 10. The question is this - just HOW high are the other 2?
January 7, 201015 yr If you keep in mind that this chart is mostly about stability and longevity... and airplay....
January 7, 201015 yr Author #07) THE BLACK EYED PEAS – I GOTTA FEELING [#1] 2,437 points // 29 weeks 70-68-79-39-10-3-3-1-2-1-2-3-5-5-7-6-5-8-6-7-10-16-14-14-17-20-20-27-24- 19rG2CHvCQY To the untrained bystander, having a look at that INSANE chart run (17 weeks in the top 10, sweet zombie Jesus!) it would seem there is no way this could possibly be as low as #7. Well the answer is, you're wrong. In fact, it's quite shocking that it made it to the top ten after just 29 chart weeks, 3 of them at very low positions (#68, #70 and #79). This was the second song of 2009 to return to #1. Yes, both songs were by the very same artist. There was a third 2009 song to return to #1 (Lady GaGa went back to the top with Bad Romance in the first week of 2010) but this return was not within 2009. Okay, arguably it is as sales for that week counted to 2009 officially, but as far as I'm concerned, 2009 was only a 52 weeks year. Anyway, this was a good enough song totally ruined by severe overplaying and everywhere-ness. It somehow managed to bridge the 15 week gap in the top ten between Boom Boom Pow and Meet Me Halfway, giving them an 8 month plus consecutive top ten run! :o
January 7, 201015 yr Author #06) LA ROUX – IN FOR THE KILL [#2] 2,508 points // 38 weeks 11-11-7-4-2-2-2-2-3-6-7-10-12-16-16-16-18-23-17-18-24-27-32-39-45-51-57-63-57-60-68-75-86-95-96-x(3)-87-85-80- JZ1Mi77nogQ This is one of those songs which looked like it would be a bit of a middle-sized hit at first (it débuted at #11 and stayed there in its second week) but then proceeded to climb and climb and then stick around for aeons. Okay, so you don't get that sort of song very often, but this is one of them. The main key to IFTK's success and indeed La Roux's in general was the amazing dubstep remix, the Skream's Let's Get Ravey mix. It received almost as much airplay as the original and introduced the song to an audience that would normally have no interest. Speaking of airplay, Radio 1 initially only put this on their 1-Upfront list, but then it 'magically' jumped up to the A-List after it became a massive hit. The video is not very good though.
January 7, 201015 yr . It somehow managed to bridge the 15 week gap in the top ten between Boom Boom Pow and Meet Me Halfway, giving them an 8 month plus consecutive top ten run! :o wow!!! has this ever been done before?
January 7, 201015 yr Author #05) LADY GAGA FT. COLBY O’DONIS – JUST DANCE [#1] 2,797 points // 44 weeks 3-1-1-1-2-2-2-2-6-8-11-12-13-13-15-18-19-22-24-25-32-35-41-46-45-51-51-46-44-46-48-50-55-62-67-74-78-89-75-87-89-x(8)-79-90-67- xIwHTBusJfM Here's the second of the three GaGa singles in the top ten, and the second of the two Colby O'Donis credited singles in the top 20. It was the first new #1 single of the year, and set the pace for GaGa's insanely massive chart career in 2009. It was outperformed in almost every aspect by the follow-up Poker Face (as was the case with The Black Eyed Peas), but was still a mega seller and stuck around for most of the year. Like both of her other 2009 #1 singles, it didn't début at #1 but instead climbed there, in this case from #3. This song also features uncredited vocals from Akon.
January 7, 201015 yr Author #04) JASON MRAZ – I’M YOURS [#11] 2,956 points // 49 weeks 61-34-28-22-11-14-14-21-21-25-30-36-35-32-25-28-32-32-35-32-35-34-35-37-39-35-44-47-47-50-51-48-46-53-57-51-27-46-48-55-30-40-39-48-57-64-72-90-100-x EkHTsc9PU2A Possibly THE most overplayed song of 2009. The overplaying made the once-decent song get so annoying and bland that you can barely listen to it without shooting yourself in the face. Nonetheless, the massive airplay meant a LOT of people heard it, and it charted continuously until the last 3 weeks of 2009. It, surprisingly, peaked at #11, proving to be a constant seller rather than a big one. Unsurprisingly, it's the highest ong in the chart to not go top ten, though there's one left that almost peaked at #11 until it was featured in The X Factor... in case anyone's wondering why it suddenly jumped from #51 to #27 near the end of its chart run, that's because of The X Factor too.
January 7, 201015 yr Author #03) KINGS OF LEON – USE SOMEBODY [#3] 2,970 points // 51 weeks 6-5-8-8-10-11-12-3-7-11-8-10-15-15-21-22-30-31-36-41-51-49-49-50-47-66-84-73-65-65-69-64-59-64-62-36-50-47-25-36-43-55-53-55-59-59-71-85-91-97-x(1)-92- LWhairF_DS8 This peaked at #2 in 2008, so there wasn't really a particularly good reason for this to stretch its chart career right up to the 50th chart week of 2009, then return after a one week absence to make it 51 out of 52 weeks. It's especially odd considering they had only one other song that had the same success (as it happens, it actually had more success, as it was the previous single) and their other singles weren't even particularly high selling or peaking or long running. Kings Of Leon just made it really really big in 2008 for no obvious reason. The follow-up to this, 'Revelry', peaked at just #27 and failed to even make the top 200 here, and believe it or not, this is actually the LOWER of their two entries in the top 200! They're the only act to feature twice in the top 3 (well OBVIOUSLY, as you either have one or none) and neither single actually peaked in 2009. This received significant boosts near the start of the year from the BRIT awards and the Comic Relief Kilimanjaro climb programme, both of which sent it back to the top 10. It was the first of 3 songs in 2009 to have 2 or more separate runs in the top ten, the others being Lady GaGa's Bad Romance and Ke$ha's TiK ToK. Edited January 7, 201015 yr by BrayFish

January 7, 201015 yr Is there a formula to count the number of cells in a selection that contain data? If there is I could make the formula in Column BD a hell of a lot shorter. It's a fantastic idea to have a spreadsheet like that! I have one for USA. From 1956 until 2005. Then I lost the track with it or perhaps the music was off no interest to me. Anyway, I used the same formula as BrayFish. The weeks, peak positions etc just pop up automatically.
