Looking forward to it. Will probably have to watch online (not the same imo) as I don't have Sky1 at Uni! :(
I'm not really keen on the series any more, it seems dated now, its the same thing, Jack is trying to save his own country again.
I'm more excited for this season than the last as I don't really know what's happening or any spoilers, so bring on day 8 :D

As opposed too...

Anyway, Season 7 was the best in a long time! (Well since S3 but still) And Day 8 looks set to live up to expectations. Besides it's the last series ever :snif:

I used to love this show. After season 3 is just got MEH for me.

Wait... season = day? :o LOL I only watched about 3 episodes of it at all. :(

Yes Pavel, a season takes place over the course of one day. Hence the title TWENTY FOUR and the real time premise of the show.
I honestly can't wait for this. I'm a late comer to the show, I watched the first six seasons in the space of a few months and then had to wait like a whole year for Season Seven to start which sucked because I was so used to just popping the next DVD in whenever I needed my fix. I've got to say, the premise for this season seems more exciting than last year and I'm glad that Kim seems to be making a permanent return, as it brings out the human side of Jack's story. I can't believe both 24 and Lost are ending, two TV juggernauts last episode in the same month: this May is going to be so epic. I just hope Audrey and Tony make one more appearance before 24 bows out.

It's not been confirmed this will be the last series. Imo there's 3 things that could happen.

1) Kiefer signs a new contract, probably another 2/3 seasons of 24.

2) Kiefer doesn't sign a new contract. The show ends, but the the franchise goes into film making instead.

3) Kiefer doesn't sign a new contract but FOX don't want to lose the show. Freddie Prince Jr is installed as the new lead.

I don't want option 3 to happen, but honestly I can see FOX doing it if Season 8 is a success.

Personally, I don't think it would work with anyone else but Kiefer in the lead and couldn't imagine FOX carrying on without him either. Not to mention the fact the producers said when the TV show ends they will then make a 24 movie with Kiefer in the lead. That means unless it's a spin-off show with a completey different production staff, there will be no room for 24 to carry on in TV form, as the staff will be too busy making the movie.

I think it's pretty likely Season Eight will be the end of 24 as it is now, as Kiefer and co seem eager to move on with the movie.

And let's face it unless the movie is 24 hours long  it will suck big time. The whole concept of 24 is the day long thing, squashing it into 2-3 hours just would DESTROY it.

That too  24 works well on TV as there isn't really an action show like it, and it has the uniqueness of its main cocept. As a movie, 24 wouldn't be exactly groundbreaking now would it.

I cannot bloody wait for season 8 :cheer:

It is still by far the best and most addicative show on TV imo. No other show comes close remotely when it comes to being on the edge of your seat and needing to see the next episode straight away. I only started watching it a year and a half ago on DVD and could not believe how addicted I became to it - hardly ever being bored which is something I cannot say for most other big shows I watch such as Lost or Prison Break where there are too many filler episodes imo.

Season 7 was a very solid one overall and a HUGE improvement on the average sixth season. The new cast looks great and with

Charles Logan

making a return it is bound to be brilliant. Let's just hope if this is the final day, it goes out on a high.

What is everyones favourite season? Mine has to be the 5th season. From the astoundingly first 2 episodes all the way through to the shocking end, it was simply remarkable. 1-4 were all brillant as well. B)

I think the golden era is seasons 1-3. Season 4 felt wierd because of the lack of regulars from past seasons, but got better towards the end. Season Five is the peak of 24, while Season 6 + onwards feels like the last stage in the show's lifespan. Season Six is my low-pont personally, but Season Seven was solid. I think this year has a good chance of being the best season in the post-Season 5 era.

Season 3 was my favourite. The end of season 4 was fantastic though - loved it when all the characters came back for when Jack faked his own death. Season 5 was also a huge highpoint for the show, and Edgar's must surely be one of the saddest deaths on TV ever?! Season 6 started off amazingly. Those first 6 episodes were fantastic, but after that it just went downhill.

Yeah, Season 6 was DREADFUL but Season 7 picked it up again. Agreed about Edgar too, that was so sad :( Although saying that I probably got more upset when Bill died...

Season 3 was also great except for utterly BIZZARE killing of Chapelle which kind of ruined the whole thing.. the idea that the president would sanction a high ranking officer's death was just ludicrous..

Anyway:

Fox president Kevin Reilly has confirmed that he will soon start discussions with 24 executives on a possible ninth season.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Reilly said that when Day Eight has premiered, he will sit down with Howard Gordon and Kiefer Sutherland.

"Collectively, we just made a decision to launch the season [first] and then sit down in the next four to six weeks," he said. "But my sense is Kiefer will want to keep it going."

Sutherland was also quoted as saying he is "absolutely open" to being involved in a ninth season, while Gordon declared that "anything is possible" as long as Jack Bauer is alive.

I thought his death was one of the shows biggest shocks though! I was only quite young at the time of watching it, but it was pretty powerful, especially when he was going to kill himself, but then he couldn't do it so he got Jack to do it!

And I KNEW IT!!

True but it was nowhere near as powerful as my boy Bill sacrificing himself for the greater good <3

Agreed, that was one of the highlights of 24 for me.

Yes, the last stretch of episodes in Season Four where Mandy returns and ending with Jack's "death" is probably my favourite ending to a season of 24. That ending was originally planned to be used for the final season, and I think it would have been a pretty, darn good ending for the show IMO. I would have to re-watch the show to make a final judgement though. Instead they couldn't wait to use it, and the following season they killed off most of the regulars. Bummer.

And yes the first six episodes of S6 are amazing, although it dipped it was never truly bad, just painfully average and sorta lifeless, there was no spark I thought. Maybe they were drained creatively after Season Five and didn't really know how to top themselves.
