well, certainly in these days of 'metrosexual' images for guys, promoted by the uber-camp clothes in places like H&M, and all straight men now believing lilac and pink to be de rigeur..... I'd say straight fashion is wholly dictated by gay culture.... apart from the chavvy look, which is just below interest to discuss anyway.

Well, the general over-ground high street fashion culture certainly is, but when you get into the sub-culture of Goth and Cyber/Industrial fashion (the likes of Cyberdog, Spank, etc..), then that's a bit of a different story, Cyber in particular is more influenced by the Japanese Manga and Sci-Fi culture...

ugh.... I HATE Cyberdog... absolutely vile.

OI, some of their T-shirts are pretty cool.... <_< , especially the ones that light up and the UV reactive ones....

I think Cyberdog put a lot of effort into the clothes they do, they try to be a bit different.... Some of their stuff is way overpriced mind....

i think it depends upon which fashion style you sport...

im usually in camo's, denim, leather....

i think 'metrosexual' is just odd. i cant see why straight men would want to wear pink! its like ... thats whats 'hip' and 'cool' so they wear it. i get the impression of a clutch of gay designers laughing their heads off at their 'joke'. i dont see why you need to wear 'gay' coloured garments in order to proclaim your open mindedness...

Well, it's really only society and it's ridiculous hangups (as well as the Nazis forcing gays in Germany to wear Pink Triangles...) that's deemed the colour pink as a 'girlie' or 'gay' colour.... Christ, a colour's a fukkin' colour.....

Staight men wearing pink aint exactly a new phenomenon anyway, you ever seen an episode of "Miami Vice", arguably the 80s show more than any other 80s show that created a big fashion scene.....? The character Don Johnson played wore pink shirts on a fairly regular basis....

but colours arnt just arbitary, things are certain colours for a reason, and are dictated by natural law.

pink is a gurly colour, pink isnt masculine, i dont have any hang ups with this, its just how it is.

Natural Law?? In what way exactly....? It aint 'natural law' law at all, it's a system of signs and codes that societies have created. The wearing of the colour black, for example, has a totally different meaning and signifies different things in Western and Japanese cultures... The meanings and signifiers behind colours are dictated by a society, not by nature....

I believe that we are labouring under a notion that pink is a 'girlie colour' which is a notion that has stuck with us, but it has bugger all to do with nature and everything to do with human interpretation....

not so m8

colours are not arbitory and are an expression of 'force' . colours are colours for a reason , and that reason is dictated by natural law.

if natural law didnt play any part and colour was totally random, then everything would appear psychedelic. it isnt, its ordered, and in nature colours do not clash. there is a reason behind everythings colour.

What in nature is actually pink though...? Pink is an unnaturally occurring colour created by a mixture of white and red....

true, pink in nature is uncommon, maybe thats the clue ...

flamingos are pink.... they are ugly freaks... all the more reason to ignore pink as a 'colour' as its core properties are....... ugly and freakish

............ but then again, you could always research the natural properties of white and red... see where they naturally occur and why..

What's wrong with wearing pink? I'm a straight bloke and I have a pink t-shirt and it's one of my favourite t-shirts and no one ever says anything about me looking 'girly' or even childishly calling me gay!

It's not like there is something genetic linked to the colour  but yes pink is MOSTLY associated with females.

The question is how has gay culture affected the mainstream and the ENTIRE conversation is about fashion...

how GAY!

very true, Consie.

Men are more concerned with personal grooming now than ever. Very gay hehe.

nothings wrong.... but why did you chose a pink t shirt?... of all the colours available, does pink suit you?... oh hold on... there is no choice here is there, you got pink because its in fashion! FASHION VICTIM! lol... thats my very point.... there is no choice, you are being fed, told, what is hip n cool..

and that clutch of gay designers are still p***ing themselves laughing...

I think pink's a totally naff colour for clothes, anyway - on women it makes them look like babydoll hookers, on men they immediately look camp as tits.
