January 16, 201015 yr I hope they don't try and Twilight-ify [as much as I love it] it too much with the teenagers/romance etc. :kink: Spoke to soon!
January 17, 201015 yr :kink: Spoke to soon! I don't think it's confirmed just yet about Robert Pattison being cast as Spidey. But your completely right, Sony must have the twilight teenage drama angle in mind. I don't know, this could be good. I will withhold judgement until more information comes out. January 18, 201015 yr The news dropped like a bombshell early this morning that Sony Pictures has signed Robert Pattinson (Twilight) to replace Tobey Maguire in the titular role in Spider-Man 4. Oh JESUS, you have to be sh!tting me!!!! Now, Pattinson would probably make a decent enough Flash Thomson, but as Peter Parker??? Come on, what a terrible piece of casting if true..... PP is/was quite nerdy and small, the whole point is that Parker is NOT "Superman", he's a more unlikely hero, focussing on speed, intelligence and agility than mere brute strength, Tobey MaGuire was inspired casting, as well as a good actor, he looked the part of PP... Pattinson just looks like a great, rather un-evolved, lummox and has scant actual acting ability..... Pretty clear that this "reboot" is being made by morons who've never read a Spiderman comic in their life....

January 20, 201015 yr New trilogy director confirmed: Marc Webb Rex Features Sony has announced a deal with (500) Days of Summer director Marc Webb to direct the new Spider-Man trilogy. The studio confirmed that Webb will helm three Spider-Man movies that will focus on Peter Parker's private life. The helmer will be paid roughly $10m (£6.1m) for the first instalment, plus bonuses depending on the film's box office numbers, says Entertainment Weekly. Sony recently revealed that director Sam Raimi and star Tobey Maguire will be replaced in the superhero's next big screen adventure. Webb, Michael Bay and Gary Ross had all been linked to the director's chair for the Spider-Man reboot. The new Spider-Man will open in cinemas in 2012.
January 20, 201015 yr New trilogy director confirmed: Marc Webb Just came to post this. Other interesting information. - " Marc Webb is the director of (500) Days Of Summer." - "Movie is budgeted at a slim $80 million. Suggesting that we're going to get a big helping of teen angst and a smaller helping of superheroic action. We can also expect a cast comprised almost entirely of unknowns, it seems, which might help keep the budget squeezed down to a minimum." So most likely no Efron or Pattison then :D - "Will follow the Ultimate Spider-Man Marvel comics reboot, expect a heck of a lot more teen angst-ing and the usual - and familiar - hiding-superpowers-in-high-school thing than we've seen from this franchise before." Here's a statement from Webb "This is a dream come true and I couldn't be more aware of the challenge, responsibility, or opportunity. Sam Raimi's virtuoso rendering of Spider-Man is a humbling precedent to follow and build upon," says the new man in Spider-Town. "The first three films are beloved for good reason. But I think the Spider-Man mythology transcends not only generations but directors as well. I am signing on not to 'take over' from Sam. That would be impossible. Not to mention arrogant. I'm here because there's an opportunity for ideas, stories, and histories that will add a new dimension, canvas, and creative voice to Spider-Man." January 20, 201015 yr Author no surprise following Ultimate Spiderman, near enough thought the last trilogy did to an extent, they are a great read, Brian Micheal Bendis is a great writer, they should get him on board to consult for the reboot.
February 10, 201015 yr Author release date annouced as July 3rd 2012, will be 3D. cant say i'm overly happy about it being in 3D. http://splashpage.mtv.com/2010/02/10/spide...d-3d-treatment/
July 2, 201015 yr Peter Parker has been cast! He'll played by Andrew Garfield (whose TV credits include Boy A, Red Riding and Sugar Rush): http://nymag.com/images/2/daily/entertainment/08/05/02_garfield_lgl.jpg Interesting choice, being a Brit and everything. He's a good actor though.
July 4, 201015 yr Author You cant tell its $h!t by the one actor already cast, i think it will suck anyway (i cba to look back but im sure i probaly went into detail in this thread why i think it will) but have you really seen this actor in anything before? i quite respect the fact they cast someone relativly unknown.
July 4, 201015 yr Steve probably just doesn't fancy him or something. Andrew Garfield is a highly competent actor. He'll probably be better than Tobey 'I'm the rabbit and you're the car' Maguire.
July 4, 201015 yr Hmm. Being honest I'm quite excited for this. I'd rather see a raw/gritty Spiderman movie as opposed to the last three Hollywood-blockbusters.
July 4, 201015 yr I predict it'll be less raw/gritty but boast quite an indie-cool sensibility, not unlike 500 Days of Summer. And I wouldn't mind that at all.

Tbh as much as I enjoyed the last three films, it just became too overproduced. I know it's already been used as an example, but The Dark Knight is so believable and realistic, whereas by the third film I found Spiderman to be to 'fictional' [which is stupid, as it is a comic  ].
