Cheryl Cole’s new move to crack America

January 18, 2010

Cheryl Cole has started work on her second solo album and is upping the ante. I can reveal America’s biggest songwriter Ryan Tedder, 30, was in the studio with the Girls Aloud star at the weekend. And it proves plans to crack the States are definitely at the forefront of the Geordie singer’s mind.

Ryan told me: “I got into England early on Saturday and went straight into the studio with Cheryl. We’re going to try and take the dance thing in a quirky new direction and make it a little more funky.”

“I’m very excited about the tracks. I’m not going to turn her into something weird but it’s different to anything she’s done.”

With Simon Cowell, 50, keen for Chezza, 26, to give him a helping hand Stateside, a spot on the judging panel of X Factor America would tie in nicely.

And OneRepublic frontman Ryan, who has penned international smashes like Beyoncé’s Halo and Leona Lewis’s Bleeding Love, is impressed by the Fight For This Love singer’s British credentials.

He said: “Cheryl’s about as famous as J-Lo was in her heyday but she’s so nice and genuine. Cheryl said there are songs Americans can get away with and she can’t.”

“It’s typical for a successful American female to put out a song about how famous or rich they are. But that’s not a British thing to do. Cheryl connects with being real and this is what the songs are about.”

Wonder if it's true :o

Maybe it's not album two but a remake of the first album to fit the American market! How exciting!

I'm thinking this is the end of Girls Aloud :(

oh god i hope not

Yeah, as soon as I saw 'album two' I thought that! She's so silly if she chooses her solo career over GA - just look at the Spice Girls, it won't last!

If this is true I agree that it'll be the end of GA. I'd be very disapointed if she decided to leave GA, her solo success won't last.
I think she should wait to see how her second album does before she decides to go proper solo it may not be as successful. with girls aloud she always has a safe haven.
Well, Cheryl leaving doesn't defo mean end of GA. Tbh I always thought that Chezza is the least talented of all Girls, and IMO GA will only lose the hype about Cheryl if she leaves.
Well album two it's a bit soon to be talking about really. It's bound to be a re-release of 3 Words for the US with a few new tracks plonked on, which will then be re-released here as a deluxe edition, around about the time of any 4th single.

yea i think your right.

i was thinking she would go with a re release if they can manage to add a killer new song on the deluxe version and have it as a single, cheryl could very well manage a million selling album.
