GaGa could do it on her own?

They are not allowed to perform their new releases - the Brits are the celebration of music from 2009.

Boring nominations as usual :/ I don't see how people can be nominated for both Best Female and Breakthrough Act tbh  Just seems weird to me. Florence is clearly going to sweep the board and I'm quite surprised to see JLS nominated for so many :o

Burke has been robbed. And how the hell have JLS been nominated when they've been only our for like...less than a year? Especially in the British Best Band category. Bonkers. But the biggest shock is BEYONCE?!?!?! What the f***ers happened there? The Brits are indeed a scam.

Im soo happy RiRi got nominated. Gaga was expected. Hope they win atleast.

Ok, so ZERO promotion to Telephone, maybe top 10, such a waste.

Is it not good enough to sell on it's own merits?

but what if you are deemed to be the best female by the voting panel and it's your first album? Which one should you get? Why not both? Do you think only female artists who are already established should be eligible for best female?

I am a big Burkey fan but I think I was only expecting Bad boys to get a Best single nod, intruth with just one song out in 2009 it would not have been right to put her up for more nominations yet Little Boots, Tinchy Stryder, Taio Cruz, Biffy Clyro and even Cheryl have had either none or one.
I'd love Bat for Lashes to win Best Female. She's alot better than Florence.

My choices would be:

British Male Solo Artist

Robbie Williams

British Female Solo Artist

Leona Lewis

British Breakthrough Act

La Roux

British Group

Muse

Mastercard British Album

Lily Allen - It's Not Me, It's You

British Single

La Roux - 'In For The Kill'

International Male Solo Artist

Bruce Springsteen

International Female Solo Artist

Shakira

International Breakthrough Act

Lady GaGa

International Album

Lady GaGa - The Fame

British Producer of the Year

Steve Lillywhite.

Critics' Choice Award

Ellie Goulding My choice would be LITTLE BOOTS

Outstanding Contribution to Music

Robbie Williams

Brits Performance of 30th Year

The Who - 'Who Are You' (1988)

Brits Album of 30 Years

Duffy - Rockferry

Didn't she have 12 songs out?

euromusic - your choices dont make sense. How can you think Shakira is the best international Female yet you think Lady Gaga released a better album?

And your choice for best British album doesn't come from any of the acts you think are best Female, Male or Group.

Maybe he simply thinks both deserve an award at least ;)

And your comment makes no sense, cause Shakira isn't up for Best Album anyway, so how can you say he think GaGa released a better album?

Edited by Bert for Lashes

Good point. So telephone won't be promoted at the Brits at all.

They are not allowed to perform their new releases - the Brits are the celebration of music from 2009.

Then why did U2 perform 'Get On Your Boots' last year to open the show?

Is it not good enough to sell on it's own merits?

NO song is good enough to sell on it's own merits.:rolleyes:

Why do people keep complaining about this year’s (and previous years’) nominations ??

I think the jury of music industry professionals have made excellent choices for the past two years

Their choice is representative of what happened in british music during the last 12 months.

Every genre is represented (pop, rock, dance, urban), whether it be underground or very commercial. There’s something for everyone !

A lot of my favourite artists in 2009 (or albums released in 2009) got a nomination, as far as I’m concerned.

If I had my way, the final results would be (That’s wishful thinking, I know ....) :

British Male Solo Artist

Calvin Harris

(I wish Jack Penate had been nominated too in this category .....)

British Female Solo Artist

Bat For Lashes

British Breakthrough Act

Florence And The Machine

British Group

Both Friendly Fires & Muse

Mastercard British Album

Florence And The Machine – Lungs

(because Bat For Lashes’ excellent album - “Two suns” - wasn’t nominated in this category)

British Single

Either La Roux - 'In For The Kill' or Lily Allen - 'The Fear'

International Male Solo Artist

I like none of them, sorry !

International Female Solo Artist

Ladyhawke, by far !

International Breakthrough Act

Empire Of The Sun

International Album

Empire Of The Sun - Walking On Dream

British Producer of the Year

Paul Epworth

Brits Album of 30 Years

Hard to choose between those 3. I love them all

Keane - Hopes & Fears

The Verve - Urban Hymns

Duffy – Rockferry

This is not correct. Their choice is representative of what SOLD in the UK during the last 12 months. Not what happened. Huge difference.

NO song is good enough to sell on it's own merits.:rolleyes:

they used to. ever heard of word of mouth?

Then why did U2 perform 'Get On Your Boots' last year to open the show?

Also I remember in 2008, Kylie performed Wow before it was released.

It is not representative of what sold in the last 12 months how come out of the Best British singles which I assume are sales and airplay, there are at least 5 Black British acts yet this is not reflected in the nominations. This seems to happen every year that Urban acts are excluded Tinchy, Taio Cruz, Jay Sean, Chipmunk and The Noisettes had a great 2009 yet where are they.Plus Beyonce not being nominated is criminal.Cheryl, Alex and even Susan Boyle outsold Pixie and La Roux.If sales were the be all and end all what is Mika doing there
mika is a strange one.its not totally about what sells, bat for lashes were critically aclaimed yet they didnt sell overly alot and had one top 40 single from the album!!
