March 5, 201015 yr http://www.bbc.co.uk/eurovision/contestant...010/index.shtml Our contestants have been revealed. Liking the look of Esma and Uni5 (even if it's a terrible name, and we don't really need another Scooch). Also, no Dollie Mix :snif:
March 5, 201015 yr Unless there's a rule about going twice in a row, they should have just got the Sugababes to do it for us, it's not like they have a reputation to be damaged.
March 5, 201015 yr Tony Vegas represented austrial in 92 and 93 so i dont think there is a rule about representing your country 2 years in a row.
March 5, 201015 yr I agree Esma really looks the best for the part, it'll be interesting to see how she sings! I liked them on XF, but really not sure if I can see Miss Fitz translating onto the Eurovision stage. Guess we could have done with some samples of them singing, huh, BBC?
March 5, 201015 yr As soon as I saw that picture of Uni5 I instantly thought of "Glee rip off" for some reason. They would surely bomb at Eurovision without me even hearing them sing. Their look alone is a big fat "our survey says XX XX".
March 5, 201015 yr Miss Fitz - two British & one Norwegian. Blatant rip-off of A1 :P I think they all seem like nice people, and all are young so could do well at ESC if their singing is good, and the song is good. Not liking the look of Josh as much as the others - something about his face. Uni5 is a rubbish name. And good to hear the foreigners have very good English
March 6, 201015 yr I think I'll wait until next Friday night to comment ........ but the omens are not good.
March 6, 201015 yr Fingers crossed for Esma and Uni5. But more importantly, for an awesome song :cheer:
March 6, 201015 yr BBCEurovision replied to me on twitter :w00t: I asked when the song title will be revealed, and when the songs the acts will be performing in the first round would be revealed. The reply was that he (or she, I dunno who runs the twitter page) doesn't think the song title will be revealed until YCNY :( Shame, we knew the song title before then last year
March 6, 201015 yr I think I'll wait until next Friday night to comment ........ but the omens are not good. Yes, the omens are not good. The two groups will be given 80s cheesefest songs that'll ensure a Waldo's People style finish (and I thought 'Lose Control' was a brilliant track - just live it didn't work :( ). The two males will probably perform ballads et la 'Hold On To Our Love' (such a bland non-song) that wouldn't stand a chance at Eurovision. Our only hopes, judging from the pictures alone, lie with the two solo female artists. Whether they have that certain something that edges the UK over other countries who will be represented by solo female artists I don't know. Remember, Jade Ewen had the company of Sir Lloyd Webber himself on stage which might have helped in terms of "celebrity" and it was a classy stage presence - even if one of the violinists was over enthusiastic and caught Jade in the mouth. Pete Waterman + classy = FAIL (unless it's Mel & Kim)
March 6, 201015 yr BBCEurovision replied to me on twitter :w00t: I asked when the song title will be revealed, and when the songs the acts will be performing in the first round would be revealed. The reply was that he (or she, I dunno who runs the twitter page) doesn't think the song title will be revealed until YCNY :( Shame, we knew the song title before then last year That's probably because 'It's My Time' was a work in progress. The lyrics had probably been written, or partly written, when we had YCNY last year. Looking back, it's clear that more time was put into focusing on the show, Jade as the winner, and promoting her across Europe. Without all that, and just giving Jade some Westlife reject that never made their album in 1999 would've ended in a 25th place leaderboard bombshell. Knowing Pete Waterman, he'll probably be going through his old rejected songs and desperately trying to modernise whichever song he chooses. I just know the UK don't stand a chance now that I've seen the final 6 acts. They should have just brought in someone last minute (like with Jade last year during the "audition stage"). It was clear Jade had won before the live shows - a set up but all the better for the UK in the end. 2010 has seen the UK go backwards to 2005.
March 6, 201015 yr We can't listen to the songs yet can we? From the photo i don't think this is Miss Fitz from X-Factor, although i may be wrong. (I can't watch the video there too whatever it contains)
March 6, 201015 yr It is Miss Fitz off X Factor, I remember the larger sized woman. Not sure whether the other two are the same, I seem to recall one of the original three disappearing at the boot camp stage, in a bit of a Pipettes style
March 6, 201015 yr ESMA, KAREN OR MISS FITZ. Anything else will beckon 25th across to the UK. how about let's hear the song(s) first?? :P any of those names can be 25th at this point :)
March 6, 201015 yr ESMA, KAREN OR MISS FITZ. Anything else will beckon 25th across to the UK. I admit it's not looking hopeful but how can you possibly deduce that from minute-long interviews?
March 6, 201015 yr I admit it's not looking hopeful but how can you possibly deduce that from minute-long interviews? Call it a biased gut feeling :heehee: Uni5 scream Scooch all over again, or that Swiss trash from 2006...and generally both males seem to be on track to give us another 2004-esque entry.
March 6, 201015 yr I have to agree, the females seem better. And they are required, since there seems to be a shortage of women going to Oslo :P
