Yes I know what you mean, but sometimes if it looks good the song doesn't matter so much (hello Russia 2008 :kink:)

No, I'm pretty sure that bit was in there. It wasn't in the original NF performance, but I'm 99% sure it's on the CD.

No problem :)

Maybe in the 100% televote days but I seriously doubt Believe would have won with the new system whatever performance gimmicks he used, I reckon Shady Lady would have done it (or Hold On Be Strong :kink:).

Who knows though, the leaked juries we saw in 2008 seemed to like Even If so maybe they'll like That Sounds Good To Me? I definitely think we're a shoe in for last place on the televote though.

Am I missing something?

Listen to the "new version" from the Eurovision blog. Then listen to the version posted by Andrewy on page 28 of this thread. It's exactly the same, but slightly speeded up (both pitch and tempo).

To conclude, it's exactly the same. So how can people say this version is now better when there's no difference. Just speeding it up a tiny bit doesn't make any difference whatsoever.

Because it sounded close to unbearable in a lower pitch and tempo? :P I hate songs deliberately slowed down (or sped up), that's the difference. Having said that, I never said it was better I said it's 'not the worst thing ever' which equates to 'still pretty awful' just as the slowed down pitch version was

It's a new version compared to the version we've already had for a while, but it is the first studio version, just played correctly

Is it me or does it sound even more like The Best Is Yet To Come than before now? Particularly now that the backing vocals are bearable, because they completely clash with Josh on the live version :drama: if they pull off a similar vocal nightmare at ESC it will be nul points.

The sound producer of this years YCNY must have been deaf in both ears. The backing vocalists had their microphones volume right up yet the main singers microphones were just about audioable. It really was the complete and utter disaster that the UK entry turned out to be. Maybe the BBC were trying to be ironic with the whole live show. Perhaps they already knew the song was going to be crap before the public did, do they threw in the towel and set about producing one of the worst live TV shows the BBC has ever aired.

I like the proper tempo/pitch studio version - so much, that I've now added it to my Mp3 player. It won't be in my personal chart tomorrow, but it probably will be the Sunday after

The final version live:

Can't see much difference to be honest :( .

It is actually quite a bit better and more contemporary with that mix :o Some of the chord progression is better in places too. He also has a really good voice, much better than he performed it on Your Country Needs You.

Still far from brilliant but I much prefer it to Even If. I'm a bit distressed that it reminds me of 'The Brady Bunch' theme in parts though, maybe this 'constantly happy' effect is what Pete Waterman was trying to emulate as ESC is obviously a 'constantly happy' contest :drama:

I do actually quite like this new mix, and whenever I listen to the album in future years, this won't be a song I skip, whereas if they'd gone with the YCNY version, I'd probably be skipping it

Better than "Even If" - that was surely our worst entry of the last decade. Can't believe Ireland gave us 8pts, but only gave 7pts to "Flying That Flag" Can someone give me a quick refresher to which other country gave us points in 2008, and tell me what on earth they were thinking, giving us any points?

I think it was San Marino who gave us points in 2008.

I agree that his voice is far better, but the radical change in style I was expecting never came. I also agree that it is a vast improvement on the YCNY version, but it's still nowhere near the level of quality we should be entering!

Ah, it's all come back to me now. They were new, so hadn't quite got the hang of tactical voting :kink:

I'm still not sold on 'That Sounds Good To Me'. It's almost like Pete Waterman is desperately trying to recreate Rick Astley circa-1987. In 5 years time people won't be Rick-Rolled - they'll end up getting Josh-Jurked or something.

Be afraid. Be very afraid. :w00t:

Oh, and 'Even If' by Andy Abraham was only great for one thing. My fabulous Andy Abraham Vs Michael Jackson mash up.
I really like the new version, the chords are great, and I like the way the chorus has been rearranged. Josh is giving his all live, and that's what counts. I don't think we'll be bottom 5 now, I think we have mid-table mediocrity to look forwards to again

I suppose if Josh gives a flawless vocal performance on the night of the Eurovision Song Contest, that might actually count for something. Reminds me of Michael Ball representing the UK in 1992 with a really crap song ('One Step Out Of Time') but he gave a great vocal performance and the UK came second.

Obviously Eurovision has drastically changed since 1997 with countries I'd never heard of starting to take part. The Eastern Europe votes are usually the killer for Western European countries.

Do you have a link to this? :kink:

I just listened. I'm wetting myself with laughter. Is this song seriously being sent to a 2010 song contest? Is Waterman out of his mind to think people still like this stuff? It belongs in a 1981 playlist, only to become a CD in a bargain bin. It's an absolute joke, and to think Jade actually did all the work to make UK respectable again, and Waterman comes along with this joke of a song and actually expects people to like it. I'm sorry, but Pete, you're out of your mind.

Boyzone are literally singing about UK at Eurovision. 'One step forward, and two steps back'.
