The difference being this was expected to be a huge hit, 'In For The Kill' was something of a surprise hit. Although maybe like Florence this won't make a difference and she'll shift tons of albums.

I really don't know what's gone wrong if 11/12 is Marina's peak with this...mass airplay, great video, brilliant song, early year release - it couldn't be further away from the messy New In Town campaign (which was a much weaker song) :(

A real shame about Marina!

I'm glad Jedward are falling..Plus I Can't see them selling albums so looks like their getting dropped whether it be sooner or later.

I can't wait for Ke$ha to get that smash #1 with Blah!

It seems to me, and I could be talking out of my arse here, that that there was less interest in the Sound of poll this year. The performance of the acts that have released so far seems to suggest that too. For me it seemed to be all done a lot more quietly than in 2008 and 2009 (don't really remember the years before that), and I would say that the acts were of lesser quality too. Perhaps the general public agree with me, I don't know. But that's my view.

To be honest though, I'm finding the charts are all a bit strange atm. I thought both Hot Chip and Marina were going to go top 10.

I cant explain how extremely i agree with that :)

Any poll that lists Ellie Goulding as 2010's biggest hope leaves a lot to the imagination. 'Hollywood' is, imo, a far superior song to 'Starry Eyed'. I've heard both a fair amount of times and I still don't get the big deal with Ellie. If 'Starry Eyed' went to no. 1 I'd be literally gobsmacked as it screams "TOP 40" to me, not even top 30!!! -_-

I'm really happy that Timbaland feat. Katy Perry have overtaken Jedward too. Brilliant!!! :w00t: Also had a feeling Ke$ha 'Blah Blah Blah' would become a big hit in the UK too. I predicted it to be no. 1 in early March as I assumed the track wasn't going to be available until then. Now it looks like it could miss no. 1 but spend the next two months in the top 10 (in a 'Don't Stop The Music' by Rihanna kinda way).

Jedward down to No 3. Oh bliss, oh joy :w00t: Keep sliding

Forgive me for being a mean b**ch ;)

The problem is that I think she comes across as quite average, and her tone of voice is easier to dislike. The market she seems to appeal to isn't really that big and she doesn't have the vocal range that Florence has. Yes, the song is alright, but I find it incredibly average. To be honest I think she's lucky being in the top #15, I'd have imagined her peaking at #22 then falling.

Ellie Goulding stands out much more for me. She has a more distinctive likable voice (in my eyes) and generally seems more interesting. However I can only see her song peaking at around #18 anyway.

Don't get me wrong, I'd choose Marina over Alexandra Burke anyday.

Yes 'Starry Eyed' really is terrible and that Ellie woman seems a bit bland herself tbh. I think after half the acts bombed horifically last year nobody really gives a damn anymore  I do agree that the standard has dropped massively too. None of them really excite me this year and I'd list Marina & The Diamonds as the most interesting of a very dull bunch and that's not saying much to be fair.

Pleased Timbo & KP are so high! Shame they will be robbed of #1 by that Haiti song :(

I think it all comes down to the fact she has had zero opportunity to appear on a mainstream TV show so far to promote the single. Appearing on the Jonathan Ross Show on Friday will be by far her biggest break to date.

Further evidence if needed that a Top Of The Pops type weekly music chart show should be on mainstream terrestrial TV, because as many artists/music critics and industry types have pointed out recently the only new UK acts who will easily break through to the mainstream immediately are "X-Factor crap".

Because how many casual music fans know who Mariana & The Diamonds are compared to Jedward.

wow rude boy at 15 already, rihanna hurry up with that video!

Agreed. Also, that applies to Leona too :P
