July 18, 201015 yr Awesome! Which version was it? Was it like a remix, or a cover version? Also, Alors on danse has fell out of the top 300 on iTunes. :( It'll climb back in if it gets played on Radio 1 today though, but I don't think they'll ever playlist it now. There's no hope in commercial radio stations playing it either, because it's in French, and nobody knows who Stromae is. I'm not really sure - just sounded a bit different to the album version I have. It was in French though! ^_^ And My My My was hit twice! First in 2004 and the in 2006 with new version with Tara McDonald I saw her live once at a club ! 'My My My' was amazing live.
July 19, 201015 yr I'm not really sure - just sounded a bit different to the album version I have. It was in French though! ^_^ Might it have been DJ Team's version. I know a lot of people bought that before Stromae's album went on iTunes. Also, Alors on danse must be almost top 200 officially. Omen by Prodigy was #197 officially, and #28 in the Dance chart, whilst Alors on danse was #31.
July 23, 201015 yr Fearne Cotton has now played Alors on danse, and it's again shot up about 100 places on iTunes. It's #158 and #455 at the moment. Seriously, if it was getting played once a day on Radio 1, it'd be huge! EDIT: I've just listened to the show now. They used the music generator on some woman who likes dance tunes (such as We No Speak Americano), and Alors on danse came out. Fearne gave a really good introduction to the song in my opinion. She talked about the youtube videos, and she mentioned that it's been number-one in a ton of countries, and she didn't giggle about the name of the album (although she did also pronounce "Stromae" wrong, and she said "alors" with an "s"). A lot of the listeners seemed to hate the song though. Edited July 23, 201015 yr by Eric_Blob

Scott Mills, the review show and now Fearne playing it! Once people know that it exists, it will sell itself. Radio 1 playing a French language track, a part French track (Bang Bang Bang) and an Italian language track (Americano) all in the space of a few hours! Amazing!
July 23, 201015 yr Author A lot of the listeners seemed to hate the song though. Quelle surprise!
July 23, 201015 yr Quelle surprise! Yeah. I wouldn't worry too much though. As Fearne pointed out, lots of people hated We No Speak Americano at first, and now it's #1.
July 23, 201015 yr Author ^^ I think different audiences listen to Radio 1 at different times. Fearne is known to hype up indie bands, so it's not surprising her audience in general didn't like the song. Scott just played the song on floorfillers, with plenty of dance fans listening, and he said it got a lot of love on text.
July 23, 201015 yr The people who "hate" 'Alors On Danse' are probably indie snobs just like those two who slated the song on Radio 1's review show. As Radio 1 try too hard to be "credible" as soon as any token indie band lead singer slates a song, Radio 1 automatically seem to pass the song off as invalid. Stromae; no. 1 in 14 countries? 14 countries can't be wrong, surely? :D Edit; If only 'Alors On Danse' could go to no. 1 in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and USA just to really show up the UK. I also noticed that Alors on danse climbed a lot more on iTunes after Fearne played it than it usually does after Friday FloorFillers, which suggests that Fearne's show gets more listeners. And I'm sure it's not only Indie fans who don't like Alors on danse. Edited July 23, 201015 yr by Eric_Blob
July 23, 201015 yr Author There's no way this is topping english speaking countries like Australia or New Zealand, let alone the US ;)

Of course. The later it is, the less listeners a show tends to have. Moyles has the highest ratings in the morning.

Listening back to Fearne's show on iPlayer, she actually only read out two negative comments about the song, along with 6 or 7 positive, so for the audience likely to be listening, I'd have said that's a pretty good response. Particularly as this is the sort of song that won't hit people properly on the first listen, it's a grower for many. I love that Radio 1 are playing this a few times a week now, with it's release date in mind, how many weeks will it be before it should hit the playlist (if it does). They've proved that the song's popular and got a fanbase, and they're obviously not against playing a French language song in full on daytime radio, so I'm more hopeful than ever now :D It NEEDS Radio 1 as commercial radio won't touch it...
July 23, 201015 yr Author I'm actually inclined to agree that this does have a good chance of getting playlisted, considering the semi-hype on R1. It'll be this years Gasolina

How far into the show does Fearne play 'Alors On Danse'?
July 23, 201015 yr How far into the show does Fearne play 'Alors On Danse'? Can't remember exactly but in the first hour iirc, maybe about 35-45 minutes in...it was on yesterday's show (Thurs 22nd July) if you're looking for it on iPlayer

July 23, 201015 yr ^_^ After hearing that, I reckon we will see Stromae on the Radio 1 playlist within the next fortnight. "who cares if it's in French?" Exactly. ^_^ 'We No Speak Americano' isn't English and is looking set to be no. 1 on Sunday.
July 23, 201015 yr Author Well its very different cases. We No Speak Americano is mostly instrumental, with We No Speak Americano repeated several times. "Alors On Danse" is a proper song with full lyrics. It's like saying "Encore Une Fois" by Sash! was a proper french hit, when it really wasnt.
