July 23, 201014 yr Well its very different cases. We No Speak Americano is mostly instrumental, with We No Speak Americano repeated several times. "Alors On Danse" is a proper song with full lyrics. It's like saying "Encore Une Fois" by Sash! was a proper french hit, when it really wasnt. It's called wishful thinking. :( Anyways, it's left to be seen. If Stromae isn't added within the next fortnight, it will never get added. I also thinking Clubland TV should add the video to their playlist. Then other music channels should follow suit.
July 23, 201014 yr Author I think Dance Nation TV might add it, even if they're rivals with Clubland/AATW. They're playing the following euro tracks: Fragma - Forever And A Day Angie Be - Soundwaves ATB pres Flanders - Behind DJ Layla - Single Lady Lasgo - Lost Ela Rose - I Can Feel Ameerah - Sound Of Missing You Milk Inc - Blackout amongst others
July 23, 201014 yr Wow :o Are all of those getting UK releases? I LOVE Angie Be... should be watching this channel :kink: DJ Layla is good too, but wasn't it released ages ago and flopped (before Inna?)
July 24, 201014 yr The people who "hate" 'Alors On Danse' are probably indie snobs just like those two who slated the song on Radio 1's review show. As Radio 1 try too hard to be "credible" as soon as any token indie band lead singer slates a song, Radio 1 automatically seem to pass the song off as invalid. Stromae; no. 1 in 14 countries? do you think indie listeners are the kind of people who spend their own money to ring up radio 1 and complain about a dance song when there are ten a penny of them? someone from the foals doesn't like a song therefore a whole radio station blacklist it, yet they playlist kelly rowland and jls? how do you come to the conclusions that you are? i don't get it... i lean towards indie taste and so do my friends and they all love it. it's an indie-taste-friendly-dance track, in a foreign language for a start (look at yelle's success...), unusual structure etc. you make pretty sweeping generalisations mate.
July 24, 201014 yr I actually agree with you again :o (Well, apart from Kelly Rowland and JLS being dance, they're urban and shite respectively). Nah, never got a UK release I swear there was another Romanian dance track that they tested the waters with, by a female DJ. It was on Positivia. Was it an earlier DJ Layla track maybe?

There's a reason why I used the word "probably". I wasn't suggesting that all indie music fans hate the song, but going off comments other posters have posted on BJ led me to thinking this. Firstly, where in the above post do I mention anything about indie listeners ringing up Radio 1 complaining about a song? Secondly, I'm not the only one who has commented on the Foals lead singer giving the track a bad review of the track. I suggest you actually read the comments on page 9 of this thread. Thirdly, wtf has Kelly Rowland and JLS got to do with the price of fish? I personally think 'Commander' is very underwhelming and that 'The Club Is Alive' is quite simply $h!t. Why didn't you just choose Yolanda Be Cool as an example - dance track not in English, A listed on Radio 1, initially slated by their listeners but is now heading for UK #1? Fourthly, there's nothing to "get". I have an opnion and I posted it. I'm not claiming to be correct - nor have I ever claimed to be correct about anything. I'm pretty sure if I could be arsed to read through all 9,976 of your posts, I'd disagree with things you've posted. I like the fact you've felt the need to question my post. Nobody else has!!! Then again, if I read a post that I disagree with strongly, I'm more likely to just ignore it. I can't be arsed getting involved in some petty argument over a song...but as you made the effort, so will I. Fifthly, I also like indie music. Granted not to the same level as you. My tastes are pretty commercial compared to yours - that's obvious (my tastes always have been) but I still appreciate different genres. It's just I'm a keen follower of European music whether it's rock, dance or pop. Sixthly; you don't need to explain about the fact it's an "indie-taste-friendly-dance track" with an "unusual structure". I've been listening to this song since around March and I still listen to the track. Personal charts also mean jack $h!t but it's spent four weeks at no. 1 for me reflecting the track I was loving the most at that particular time. Hopefully I've managed to explain my so called "sweeping generalisations" in more detail. Edited July 24, 201014 yr by Hitstastic

July 25, 201014 yr I've remembered, it was DJ Ella - Shine Like A Superstar BTbqAgY7aoI But actually it was Latvian. I've forgot why we are talking about this here btw
July 25, 201014 yr Wow! That's awesome. The 144th most popular track in the UK, from only 5 plays on the radio! It's also climbed 13 places on the UK Dance Singles Chart, up to #18! This is all probably mostly down to Fearne Cotton. Edited July 25, 201014 yr by Eric_Blob
July 26, 201014 yr Author I don't think Radio 1 plays are the sole cause for this debut. Some people are returning from holidays, no doubt they've heard it anywhere in Europe.
July 30, 201014 yr On that note, I've just checked UK iTunes, and something rather strange happened. The Clubland 17 version was down to #365, which is a huge drop, considering it was top 200 earlier today, but the album version has climbed from out of the top 1,000 to #589. I don't know if it's actually climbed or fallen combined, and I wonder why people are suddenly downloading from Cheese instead of Clubland 17, when compared with this morning. EDIT: Now the version from Cheese is #471 and the version from Clubland 17 is #851. Have they decreased the price of the album version or something? Edited July 30, 201014 yr by Eric_Blob
August 6, 201014 yr Played again on Fearne Cotton's show and into the top 100 on iTunes for the first time! About time it was added to the playlist I think...maybe they're waiting for Yolanda to drop off first so that they don't playlist two foreign songs simultaneously...
August 6, 201014 yr #67 on iTunes now. On the back of one Fearne Cotton play? How? :o Edit: It was on Floor Fillers again too :D Two plays in one day! I usually couldn't care less about what Radio 1 play but if a French language song is a smash a few weeks after an Italian language song (and both playlisted on the country's biggest station) then it will hopefully open doors for future foreign language music to be promoted and recognised here, at long last :D
