February 3, 201015 yr Author 39 Melanie C ft Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes 'Never Be The Same Again' - 520 points (23 voters, 12th in Heat 3) qBm2J-gKeUE UK Chart Run: {1}-2-7-9-11-14-17-26-31-38-42-54-67-75-70R(3)-74->16 Once again proving herself as BuzzJack's favourite solo Spice Girl with an impressive top 40 finish, not bad for one of the oldest number ones in the top 40. Infact only one single from the final is older.
February 3, 201015 yr Author 38 Kelly Clarkson 'My Life Would Suck Without You' - 521 points (26 voters, 10th in Heat 1) WJedoEM7G5U UK Chart Run: {1}-4-6-7-10-14-17-20-29-33-33-36-48-53-65-69->16 The elusive number one which she probably deserved but didn't get in her 'Breakaway' era finally came last year with the first single from her fourth album. The follow up was one of the lowest charting songs to follow up a number one single in a long time.
February 3, 201015 yr Author 37 Eminem 'Lose Yourself' - 522 points (23 voters, 9th in Heat 4) xFYQQPAOz7Y UK Chart Run: {1}-3-5-5-3-3-6-6-7-6-9-6-10-14-19-29-35-40-47-60-74-67R(317)->22 I would've been shocked had Eminem not managed to get one top 40 position, but it's a pleasant surprise that this has finished so high. Generally regarded as one of his best songs, this impressed critics and was a serious song a lot people who don't normally like Eminem appreciate.
February 3, 201015 yr More brief comments: 60 Estelle ft Kanye West 'American Boy' - 376 - I quite like this song, but still think it is overrated. 59 Ting Tings 'That's Not My Name' - 387 - The Tom Tom Club with a cockney accent 25 years on. 58 Nelly ft Kelly Rowland 'Dilemma' - 388 - I bought this song back then and still love it now. 57 S Club 7 'Don't Stop Movin'' - 390 - "Billie Jean is not my love, she's just a girl who thinks that I am the one .... and the child is not my son" 56 LeAnn Rimes 'Can't Fight The Moonlight' - 395 - Another song I bought on CD that now lies dormant at the bottom of a shoebox. I still really like the track. 55 David Guetta ft Kelly Rowland 'When Love Takes Over' - 412 - A great summer anthem. 54 Liberty X 'Just A Little' - 415 - The best record made by a UK Talent show formed group of the 2000s. 53 Timbaland ft Keri Hilson & DOE 'The Way I Are' - 420 - I quite like but the poor grammar annoys me. 52 Calvin Harris 'I'm Not Alone' - 421 - A rave revival of the early 1990s. I quite like it but it des not feel like a #1 song. 51 Sonique 'It Feels So Good' - 430 - Tune. A great #1 hit by the female equivalent of Roachford. 50 Black Eyed Peas 'Where Is The Love?' - 431 - To be honest, I was never that keen on this track. A good song though. 49 My Chemical Romance 'Welcome To The Black Parade' - 434 - A truly terrible record by the 4th rate Smashing Pumpkins tribute act. It's hard to believe it is the same act that released the brilliant "Helena". 48 Michael Andrews ft Gary Jules 'Mad World' - 441 - Until 2009, the last decent Xmas #1. Prefer Tears For Fears original though. 47 Natasha Bedingfield 'These Words' - 445 - A quirky pop tune, but there is something unsettling and unsexy about Natasha Bedingfield IMHO (& I'm not thinking about her brother!) 46 Roger Sanchez 'Another Chance' - 449 - A great dance tune that sampled 1980s AOR outfit Toto. 45 Britney Spears 'Everytime' - 456 - A great ballad. Great production & a great video. 44 Stereophonics 'Dakota' - 458 - Out of nowhere the Welsh journeymen rockers came out with their career best effort. Cracking. 43 Duffy 'Mercy' - 462 - Surely has Amy Winehouse to thank for her career and success. Pity that ghastly milk advert and reject Bond movie theme hurt her chances of having a long term career. 42 Girls Aloud 'The Promise' - 503 - I wonder how gutted the Pipettes must have felt when GA Xenomania changed their sound for their only "non artificial" (artificial = Winning song from talent show/Charity record) UK#1 to date. "Blankety blank, blankety blank ....". PS. I still like the tune. 41 Christina Aguilera ft Redman 'Dirrty' - 506 - Another CD single I bought. The record that put her a step ahead of Britney. A pity she takes too long in between albums to maintain career momentum....

Luckily for the band they came back with this, sticking to their distinct sound but being good enough and different enough to differentiate it. A stomping disco throwback, many people fell in love but it had annoyed just as many 6 months later, spending exactly half a year inside the UK top 40.
February 3, 201015 yr Author 35 Fragma 'Toca's Miracle' - 525 points (20 voters, 15th in Heat 3) fQLxNezK8tk UK Chart Run: {1}-1-2-4-10-11-17-24-33-36-36-39-51-66-72-58R(2)-52-29R(399)->18 Originally a bootleg of 1999s number 11 hit 'Toca Me' Fragma recorded and released this themselves the following year. It proved a success and was their biggest hit. Only an admin error prevented it from being listed in the top 100 sellers of the decade.
February 3, 201015 yr Author 34 Gnarls Barkley 'Crazy' - 531 points (23 voters, 4th in Heat 1) bd2B6SjMh_w UK Chart Run: {1}-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-5-30R(30)-51-49-54-66-66R(2)-67->18 I'm disappointed this is only 34th. It made an impact deserving of a far higher position than 34th, almost selling more than Orson the week before it was allowed to chart almost made the OCC look like complete fools, however it did go on to spend 9 weeks at number one, before the OCC did make them look like complete fools with their rule of disqualifying a song from the chart after its physical had been deleted from production. It would've had a far more impressive chart run had that rule not existed.
February 3, 201015 yr Author 33 Sugababes' Round Round' - 534 points (24 voters, 10th in Heat 4) FHh86ySgKrA UK Chart Run: {1}-2-3-3-7-15-18-25-29-36-47-56-72->13 Don't worry, the countdown isn't quite complete Sugababes domination!! Their first of 5 entries finishes in a rather high 33rd position, almost getting all five of their number ones in the top 30.
February 3, 201015 yr Author 32 Shakira ft Wyclef Jean 'Hips Don't Lie' - 539 points (28 voters, 11th in Heat 2) ZMdROUkmXSk UK Chart Run: 54-3-2-{1}-2-2-3-1-1-1-1-2-2-5-7-6-10-13-13-17-21-28-31-30-28-28-37-49-49-33-31-44-43-49-59-64-74R(2)-71R(5)->38 I'm surprised at this position, I thought this would be an easy top 10 conteder. Her first UK number one, it was fairly surprising as it took a couple of weeks to qualify (still rare at the time) and it hadn't had masses of support. But promotion built up and it had two stints at number one and an incredible four months in the top 10, all this despite not being playlisted by Radio 1.
February 3, 201015 yr Author 31 Black Eyed Peas 'I Gotta Feeling' - 547 points (27 voters, 10th in Heat 2) uSD4vsh1zDA UK Chart Run: 70-68-39R(2)-10-3-3-{1}-2-1-2-3-5-5-7-6-5-8-6-7-10-16-14-14-17-20-20-27-24-14-22-28-31-31->33 Another of the longest top 10 runners of the decade in quick succession. 17 weeks in total and still in the top 40 now some 31 weeks after first entering. The song is still as huge as it was last summer and doesn't look like going away any time soon.
February 3, 201015 yr 'I Don't Feel Like Dancin' and 'The Promise' are both AWFUL and among the worst for each artist. Can't listen to either now. 'Everytime', 'Just Dance' and 'My Life Would Suck Without You' are too low! :(

February 3, 201015 yr Author 30 Will Young 'Leave Right Now' - 560 points (26 voters, 7th in Heat 4) GhO3WxkwT6Q UK Chart Run: {1}-1-2-6-5-6-10-12-14-22-17-22-24-34-44-60-64-61->18 The point where Will ditched the management team that had got him to where he was and he started to take control of his own career. You can't deny that it didn't work, especially when you look at what happened to many of the other puppets that have come out of Reality TV.
February 3, 201015 yr Author 29 Girls Aloud 'Sound Of The Underground' - 563 points (29 voters, 5th in Heat 3) OnLrNHCQPP0 UK Chart Run: {1}-1-1-1-3-5-9-15-19-19-22-27-38-42-57-56-71-67-56-71-73->21 Their debut single and the highest placed Christmas number one of the decade (although was it ever going to be anything else?). They may have gone on to become BuzzJack favourites but 29th is the highest they can manage in this countdown.
February 3, 201015 yr Author 28 Sugababes 'Push The Button' - 569 points (25 voters, 6th in Heat 3) ZY3bcc-cKwo UK Chart Run: {1}-1-1-2-3-5-9-16-15-21-29-35-41-19-23-25-37-45-47-54-45-56-62->23 From one BJ favourite to another. Unlike Girls Aloud this isn't their most successful, they still have three to come. They'd always been a fairly successful group before this but I think this took them to another level, it's an incredibly simple song but very catchy and very good. It had far more longeivity than anything they'd previously released.
February 3, 201015 yr Leave Right Now was a great pop song. Actually Will was on top form in general with that album - I didn't really like anything he did before or after though. Definitely one of the best number ones of the decade for me. Sound of the Underground is one of the worst Girls Aloud songs (actually, their four number one singles are probably some of the worst singles they've released ), but it's still pretty decent. Toca's Miracle is good. Crazy is way too low. :o To spend 9 weeks at number one and still sound good (to my ears) despite the overexposure that comes with it takes a damn good song.
February 3, 201015 yr Author 27 Madonna 'Hung Up' - 580 points (27 voters, 7th in Heat 2) EDwb9jOVRtU UK Chart Run: {1}-1-1-3-2-4-8-3-3-7-14-13-18-17-16-20-26-32-42-45-52-41-50-58-61-63-68-68-66->29 After rather a long time of releasing stuff that was fairly hit and miss, Madge sampled Abba and went all disco, releasing her most popular song for 7 years. Personally I doubt she'll release anything that has such an impact again.
February 3, 201015 yr I'm with you on Madonna. 'Beautiful Stranger' was her last good song before 'Hung Up' and everything has been passable since. I always find PTB to one of those boring Sugababes songs. They have far better imo though I do appreciate that song for what it did at the time.
February 3, 201015 yr Author 26 Spiller ft Sophie Ellis-Bextor 'Groovejet (If This Ain't Love)' - 594 points (28 voters, 8th in Heat 3) syOK6zmpOe0 UK Chart Run: {1}-2-3-6-12-17-20-27-36-37-40-39-48-64-59-55-56-54-49-46-42-43-50-66->24 The track the introduced the world to Sophie Ellis-Bextor, it was part of a hugely hyped chart battle and it was a shock winner, against Victoria Beckham's debut solo single. It's gone on to become well loved enough to proove that it was deserving.
February 3, 201015 yr Number 1s of the noughties have been alot more decent than number 1s in the 90s. Although there were a lot of fantastic number 1s then, none of them were from pop music. I think pop music was alot better in the 00s. Edited February 3, 201015 yr by tonyttt31
