May 13, 201015 yr I entered as well, although I put Germany 5th which I'm now pretty sure isn't going to happen. I've had quite a turnaround in the last few days regarding Satellite, and contrary to what Rich predicts, I would now be pretty gobsmacked if it manages to finish in the top half. So you're expecting bottom ten for Satellite? :snif:
May 13, 201015 yr So you're expecting bottom ten for Satellite? :snif: Really? I don't think it'll win, but I wouldn't go THAT far. I wouldn't have gone that far either, but after watching a couple of live performances, her vocals aren't just marmite a la Anna Bergendahl, they are just amateurish. There's "quirky" and then there's just off key. With regards to the whole Germany being the way forwards and Denmark being the way backwards, I know that I'd rather see an old fashioned song win that was professional and well performed, than a contemporary song that was clumsy and below par. I don't think it'll be a genuine worry though, I'd say the votes will speak for themselves. Even though I've never thought it was a winner, I do really like Satellite, but it is just in the last few days that I have really struggled to see it doing well at all. It only has one chance to impress and I don't think the voters will see through the amateurishness of Lena and the performance in that 3 minutes to appreciate the song enough to vote for it. I've predicted better in the past but I'm going to have to say right-hand side of the scoreboard for this.
May 13, 201015 yr Author Has she performed it live since the Unser Star final? I would like to see how she is doing it now, considering she will have surely had vocal coaching and performance rehearsals. Then again, I never saw the first performance of the song, from before she won. Is it on Youtube? I take it wasn't too great anyway...

And she's performed it on some TV show since then and it was no better. She's going to need some serious vocal coaching before Oslo, but even at that, vocal coaches can't just turn a bad singer good in a month.
May 14, 201015 yr I'm hoping her personality, quirkiness and charm (and the song!) will overcome whatever vocal limitations she might have. Below is a performance she did last night for some German radio station. I like it. Maybe it's not perfect, but it shows off her personality, which I'd rather see than some completely polished, flawless, studio version sounding (boring) performance. K5dOA9FIUis

May 17, 201015 yr I am impressed how much support the song got in Germany. It is bound that everything touch from Stefan Raab will have huge publicity, but still i am impressed as Eurovision will be discovered from the young generation  . I really cannot predict how the song will do... I like the song, but the vocals are really amateurish to cabaret style - i have no idea how the listeners will vote for it. I mean Rybak was also not the best singer, but was better as this  . And he had that violin
May 18, 201015 yr From the first time that i heard this song, it had winner-potential for me. And if Lena wants to marrie me, then im game ;)
May 19, 201015 yr Lena  Say what you want about them but Lordi, Marija, Dima and Alexander all had bucketloads of charisma (even if I didn't like all of them), which I'm sure helps to sell the song to people. I wouldn't rush to the phone to vote for some mundane lifeless performance. The more unique songs, those that the artists make their own on stage, are the ones that are remembered. Hopefully Lena will continue this trend!
May 19, 201015 yr And if Lena wants to marrie me, then im game ;) :nono: Lena is going to marry ME
May 19, 201015 yr Its a shame its not available as part of the compilation on itunes but it wouldnt surprise me if they release the single to itunes. It was added on Swedish itunes the other day and its already #13 on their itunes!
May 19, 201015 yr Indeed, the highest of this year's entries :o Swedish iTunes #13 - Satellite #33 - This Is My Life #45 - In A Moment Like This #49 - Airplanes (my BJSC entry) #91 - Apricot Stone :o #93 - Allez Olla Ole :o #94 - Fairytale
May 19, 201015 yr Excellent to see! I'd really love to see France pull a(nother) shock top ten out of the bag this year!
May 19, 201015 yr Would it be worth opening an Eurovision iTunes thread, do you think? Norway iTunes #10 - The Flood :snif: #21 - My Heart Is Yours #49 - This Is My Life #67 - Satellite #93 - Drip Drop I also noticed that the explicit version of "Sexy Chick" has Sexy censored (so it says S**y), but not the other word
May 19, 201015 yr Author Yes, an iTunes Eurovision chart would be awesome  I wonder if we'll have any entries before the contest in the UK :(
May 19, 201015 yr Yes, an iTunes Eurovision chart would be awesome  I wonder if we'll have any entries before the contest in the UK :( No chance, sales figures to Eurovision fan ratio is too low here compared to other countries :( After the contest however, I can see us having loads, well apart from UK and Germany at this rate  :drama:
