But you said to me you thought Norway would win :kink:.

I hoped Norway would win :D

and that was before I was there, and when I saw how many was singing along to 'Satellite' and all the cheering for Lena it was clear that Lena would win :)

Didrik's performance was such a letdown/borefest :(

I'm sure A1 wouldn't have finished as low as 20th :P Would have been the first uptempo song in the final for a start and the young girls watching and voting at the start of the show would have had a nice boyband to vote for :cheer:

I know, I expected him to at least deliver a sound vocal performance :o he was dire!

I'm sure Mira would've given a better performance, even though she'd've been a shoe-in for last place

He was far far better in the MGP final.

2nd to last :P I'm sure she could have got past Josh!

I just thought I'd check to see if Lena has gone international outside of Europe on iTunes:

Currently Satellite is:

#14 Australia

#88 New Zealand

Whaw, is Eurovision televised in Australia?

Of course  I totally forgot about him.

- according to stefan raab there's no doubt that lena will be the one to defend germany's title next year

- the viewers will vote for the song that lena will participate with

- she doesn't plan to go on tour

Still early days, but it seems that he isn't just joking :o

:o Has this ever happened in Eurovision before? The winner defending their own title? Surely not.

Like I said yesterday, ESC 2011 will be a three hour long shrine to Lena. I hope for her sake that she doesn't finish in the bottom five next year, that will feel like a massive crash back to reality. Nice way to ensure her another 3 or 4 top five hits in the German chart though I suppose

Article from ESC Daily;

Instead of “Unser Star für Oslo” next year it will be Unser Song für …” (“Our Song for …”).

Lena won the 2010 edition of Eurovision with “Satellite” a few nights ago and already Germany is begining their plans for the 2011 edition.

The title in the German media reads “never change a winning team” and Stefan Raab and NDR-director Lutz have confirmed to the ARD ProSieben press conference in Cologne that Lena Meyer-Landrut will once again represent Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Germany nexy May.

“If Germany would win the World Cup, it would be stupid even if the winning team would not run for the next time,” said Raab. “Morally and musically it is clear that Lena has to defend the title in her own country.”.

Therefore in 2011, the selection process will be “Unser Song für Lena”.

I fail to see how Stefan Raab can compare Eurovision to a sporting event, but there we go  I'll look forward to seeing her at the contest again, but the chances of them coming up with another Satellite are slim to none, and I think they could well end up disappointed, as could she. Nothing ever stays the same in Eurovision for 2 years and if they go for another quirky pop song it won't work. I wouldn't recommend her doing a ballad either, I guess something more breezy like Bee could work.

#12 Australia

#22 UK ... needs to get in the top ten on Itunes for it to get noticed and take off... hopefully it can push through but it's gonna be hard to even crack the top 20 =[

I know. Eurovision =

But football = :puke2:

I look forward to having Germany at the top of my rankings again, but I do hope they do ok so Lena doesn't get upset.

But didn't Johnny Logan win twice? I don't think it was two years in a row, but that would prove a former win can win again

Yes, but those wins were 7 years apart, not directly following so gave people a nice break from him in the meantime. And there's no certainty that they'll give Lena another song with winning potential - had Norway selected Maria Haukaas Storeng's Make My Day for their entry this year (bearing in mind Hold On Be Strong was my runaway favourite in 2008), I reckon it would have struggled to be in the top ten of my rankings, so I'm glad that she wasn't chosen. I'm all for past winners and participants coming back, but not with obviously weaker songs. If they've got stronger songs, or equally as good though, that's fine

Germany are so winning this football world cup, the same happened with us in 2008, Olympics' success, hockey victory, ESC win. All in one year  And then nothing!

I truly have a bad feeling about the whole thing of sending Lena again. It won't work. :(

and the UK in 1997, well in a different way - New Labour went into government and the country was seen to be revived, and then we won ESC a couple of weeks later! Spain are favourites to win the World Cup I think, didn't Germany lose one of their key players?

And I agree completely on the last point, the only way is down :( The whole thing smacks of NDR or whatever their name is getting lucky with the process, finding a star (Satellite by Jennifer Braun would NOT have won), and now thinking that Lena's the only way for success from now on - no better than the BBC really, just deluded in a completely different way

Maybe Germany knows that sending Lena is the only way to guarantee not to win two years in a row, as they don't want to pay to host in 2012
