I forgot about roys mother coming in, didnt hayley have along lost borther or sisters a few years back aswell?

Oh come off it! You can't compare Corrie's long-lost relatives with Eastenders' (at least the sheer number of them.) Sure - there was Norris's brother (quite believable in him being long-lost as he'd been in Australia). EE's long-losts arrive from just outside of Peckham ... apart from Janine's grandmother who will be appearing from Rome by way of I, Claudius. Mind you - with Margaret Tyzack - EE is getting what it so desperately needs - a good actress!

Oh - and it was Hayley's son (whom he'd fathered while he was Harold!) And - Corrie didn't dwell on it - they moved on.

I hate Kevin Webster.

He doesnt deserve all that money.Lucky bugger.

 Poor Steve McDonald!

Can't wait for Roy's mum (Stephanie Cole) to turn up.

The show badly needs some biting wit from a bitter old woman. Can't think why the casting directors didn't invite me for an audition!

Even though she's long-lost?!

I'll stop now, I promise.

I'm only watching an average of about two episodes a fortnight lately such is the quality of the show but I really need to watch yesterday's ep to see Janice's exit. I'll be sad to see her go. I've read about how she leaves and it sounds great on paper although some of the fans on DS were unimpressed.

Janice's exit was just OK. She had a relatively mushy moment with Leanne, but it was all too brief. I DID like her drenching the Rovers punters and screeching profanities as she went (very true to form), but all the same it seemed like too low-key an exit for a character with 15 years or so on the show. She should at least have had some build-up with a PROPER exit storyline, not a 'oh I'm gonna have me a long holiday, BYE' quickie.
She did at least get a storyline of her own a couple of months back with Lloyd's supposed theft of her flat and staying with Leanne and Peter.
Hardly a blockbuster though was it? I just think that with an actress who has been with the show that long, and who HAS had some meaty storylines in her time (Dennis being one I particularly remember), that she deserved to be the centre of attention for the run-up to her departure. As Liz will be for the next couple of weeks, and as Claire was a couple of months back with who-pushed-Tracy.

I wouldn't bother to tune in for that Jark. Janice was never a strong character (noisy - yes - strong - no). I didn't really care about her exit as I never cared about the character so it mattered not that it was rubbish.

Well I ended up watching the whole week. I thought Janice's exit was really lovely - heartwarming with a little added wickedness thrown in for good measure as she socked it to the 'losers'. I'm really happy with that. Even though she was one of my favourites from the past few months there obviously wasn't that much storyline potential there and going travelling with Trev was a pretty good way to go as low-key exits go.

Julie has been fabulous this week. She lights up any scene and her charisma rubs off on whoever she converses with.

Less impressive is this fucking awful Sally and Kev storyline. Everything from the contrived situation of winning big on a scratch card (so clichéd that I half expected him to lose the card) to Tyrone conveniently bursting in just as Sally was about to sign. I couldn't quite believe it when Kev tried to buy Sally off with the immortal line 'I'll give yoh fifty quid! 'Undred quid!' - seriously? Is it written by five year olds? I really can't stand the entire Webster family. They're all just such awful actors. Even Sally's involvement with Jeff is tiresome yes because he's also entirely unconvincing.

More Carla please.

I read a spoiler that Janice was being killed off obviously a fake one.

I think Chris Fountain's character will be good wonder if he will challenge Tyrone living in his grandad's house.

Carla needs to be with Peter I hate Leanne.

Janice was nothing more than a screeching harpie from her start in CS to her (too bloody late) goodbye.

Julie IS fabulous.

The Webster storyline is great. And for me - Sally and Rosie are fabulously written characters. Kevin's getting a bit better. The only one who needs to go now is Soooorphie!

I agree about Carla.

Kath

Note! If Corrie is written by five year olds - then surely the EE writers are still in pre-school!

I agree with all that ^_^ I'm behind at the minute but Gail coming out the house with all them pizza's needs some appreciation it was hilarious

Erm. Has Chris Fountain been showering in Tango? Dear lord. What a state.

I thought Gail with the pizza delivery man was hilarious! And Corrie just dropped it in as a sort of afterthought (I doubt more than 5 seconds of screen time were given - but it did the trick. No need for Corrie to labour the point as some soaps do.)

I'm glad Janice has gone - although I must agree on Jark for some of Corrie's 'suspensions of reality' - in that - I'm sorry - but Trevor was quite a dish - no way would he go for some mouthy bint like Janice (not after having experienced the delights of the absolutely drop-dead-gorgeous Carla!)

Kath

Note - you just HAVE to see Kylie's wedding outfit next week! Almost as classy as Tina Dingle's leather wedding dress all those years ago!

He did look as though he'd been drip-fed Sunny Delight from a very early age!

Kath

But on an unbelievable note. If Tommy didn't know that Jack was dead - why, when he came back to the Street, was he asking for Tyrone? Wouldn't he have been asking for Jack?

I think he prob does know I bet he trys to get the house or something. I bet he turns out to be a villain type character like his dad terry duckworth

To be honest - that's the only explanation. I was hoping having seen him though - that he'll turn out decent. Him, Tyrone, Kirk and Tina watching the dvd tonight was fun.

I'm really liking Kylie more by the episode ... and disliking Becky more and more.

Kath

Edit - Tommy has no claim to the house at all though - as Jack didn't leave it to Molly and Tyrone - they bought it so its Tyrone's outright.

Edited by Kathyp

Tommy is a very standard character so far, typical 'cheeky' lad with no distinct qualities but he's at least played by a good actor. But Corrie are having trouble with giving their new characters proper characterisation lately (ie. they aren't - Frank and Jeff for example are both painfully 2D and that Xin is awful) so hopefully he'll buck the trend and won't end up as the new Jason Grimshaw still drifting by on his good looks five years down the line...

In other news I think I've warmed to Liz inexplicably (she definitely works better with Jim who I rather like) but I'm still firmly Team Becky. And Kylie is vile.

But its Becky's pig-headedness that puts me off her. She's her own worst enemy. I mean - she's supposed to love the kids - yet she smokes in the same places they are (OK - they may not be in the room at the same time - but couldn't she make a sacrifice?) Whenever things don't go her way - she gets drunk and then violent. No wonder she was turned down by the adoption panel. I feel a certain amount of pity for her - but I'm glad that Katharine Kelly is leaving - they've taken her as far as they can.

Jark - I'm going to make a point of watching EE next week - the fabulous Margaret Tyzack is in it as Janine's equally evil grandmother!

And I must admit - Jean was fabulous in (Tuesday's?) episode.

Kath

Well good for you! See? We can all learn to like one another's soap of preference :D I'm all for praising Corrie when it's good and I know you've got it in you to do the same for EE!
