Corrie got its humour on form tonight thanks to the brilliant Mary (and quite a funny turn from Gail).

 

Pity its headed for a downward turn with the increasingly unbelievable Becky. Seriously ... the adoption panel was right - this woman does NOT deserve or is capable of responsibly looking after children.

The Steve/Becky/Tracy stuff is more or less just a total rehash of how it was before with Karen. The only thing that's changed is that he's with someone else now.

I can't wait for both Becky and Tracey to leave ... I'm bored stiff by the whole thing. I just cannot gel with Becky though ... I mean would you continue to smoke in the same building that a young child lives in? When I was a smoker - I made a point of going outside - even in the pouring rain - rather than have my kid inhale any old smoke (truth be known - I felt too embarrassed for my kid to know I smoked!)

 

Thank heavens for Mary though ... total star! Why the hell doesn't Norris marry her? It isn't as if he's ever going to be inundated with offers.

It climaxes during five gripping 30 minute episodes at 9pm the week after next, starting Bank Holiday Monday, 30th. Sandwiched between BGT and the BGT results, we see John finally caught and surrounded by cops whilst holding baby Hope as hostage!!

As daft a storyline as it was/is ... I can't help loving it - mainly because of Graeme Hawley's performance. Some of the situations brought to mind a semi-serious episode of Fawlty Towers ... with its absurdity and 'oh my god ... what's he going to do next' moments. I loved it!
