Yeah I don't think Peter's dead.

Poor Molly though. It was sad although not quite as sad as when she said her goodbyes to him yesterday.

I hope Rita survives as well and Peter. So to make up the final death should be Janice choking on a Mars Bar in the hopsital waiting or Dev ^_^

PS. I'm sure the woman who plays Izzy is handicapped in real life, so standing up in the live ep would have been quite a feat!

OOH. I'm an EE fan, and only a casual Corrie viewer, but being totally honest I think Corrie came off better in the live episode stakes. There were huge chunks of that episode where I actually completely forgot it was live, and I didn't notice any obvious f***-ups a la Jack Branning. Although there was still the odd bit of dodgy acting, I thought many of the cast were WONDERFUL.

Gary, Claire, Becky, Steve, Molly, and Leanne in particular where the standouts for me, which is odd as half of that list are hardly considered Corrie "heavyweights" (indeed half of the usual favourites like Gail, Michelle and David either had very little to do, or weren't present AT ALL).

I think what with Charlotte's sudden resurrection and Sunita now seemingly out of the woods, things REALLY aren't looking too good for Rita. I'd also be hugely surprised if Peter did survive, given the heavy and emotional "farewell" they carried out for him tonight. The only possible alternative for the 4th would be if the rumour I've heard is true and

John turns off Charlotte's life support.

And yes, I believe the lady who plays Izzy IS disabled, so kudos on that score!

If Peter has died by tomorrow's eps start point then he (Chris Gascoyne) will be the only Corrie actor ever to have both his first and last appearanecs on live episodes. I only know this because I watched the 40th anniversary one on youtube and Peter gets out of a cab and introduces himself in the ep.

I think this week is at risk of becoming a bad nursery rhyme if the dead are Rita, Peter and Sunita! Maybe that's just me.

Do we think Vicky Entwhistle (Janice) slipped up when she said "Deidre should be here. She WAS his stepmum... I mean IS" or was it, as another forum I was reading thought, scripted. Also I swear one of the extras actually set light to Sally with the cutting equipment towards the end of one scene, someone pulled her backwards as she reacted to it.

I have to say too that I'm a bit confused about Izzy standing up when she's wheelchair bound, although I thought I saw her do it briefly in a previous episode. I think Corrie need to tackle her disablilty head on and raise awareness of her condition and explain what she is and isn't able to do. Unless Cherylee specifically doesn't want that to happen.

One thing I thought was great was how Mary was completely oblivious to the disaster once she'd found Norris, and just was her usual calm weird self. Particulary good acting even though she wasn't a dramatic or action role in the ep.

One last thing, please bear in mind when you say about William Roache's acting, that he is registered deaf and has been for a while. I suspect that's why his character couldn't go into the thick of the action as too much noise and movement would be going on for William to get his visual cues or lip read the other actors parts to know when to say his line. (I think his visual cues normally consist of Deirdre faffing with her lighter or a glass at a particular point in the scene, and in that scene in the joinery where they all named there partners as the most important thing in their lives and Ken hesitates before Peter clicked his finger to prompt him to say Deirdre I suspect that was actually Chris prompting William that his line was overdue).

The only possible alternative for the 4th would be if the rumour I've heard is true and

John turns off Charlotte's life support.

I'd read that too!

I'd read that too!

Pretty sure that happens tonight.

Would make sense what with John already at the hospital with Fizz

As for tonight, it was quite brilliant. The actress who plays Leanne was just magnificent and I nearly shed a tear at the end with her screaming. Claire and Becky were also very good, will be a shame to see Claire leave later this month.

I don't think so, she probably said "was" in the sense that he was dead....it's a slip up that happens sometimes in that situation. (as in the situation of someone not looking likely to live, not the situation of doing a live ep)

Either way it worked fine.

Considering I'm not really a Corrie fan, and I don't often watch it that much, I've been watching all week and been hooked.

Also the live episode was brilliant (I actually forgot it was Live)

I'm going to carry on watching after this week, its been that good! Even brought a tear to my eye a few times..

I had no idea William Roache was deaf!

Oh believe me he is!

Me and my brother met him at a book signing in October. When he asked for my brother's name (which is chris) he couldnt hear what he was saying and thought he was saying Phil...which sounds nothing like chris  My poor bro had to tell him about 5 times, but William was cool with it and they both found it funny :P

Again I will have to agree with the majority, that despite being much more of an EE fan at the best of times I do think Corrie blew them out the water somewhat. No real major mistakes to be seen and the acting from Peter, Leanne and Claire in particular was brilliant.

I was oh so ever thankful that Kym sodding Marsh was nowhere in site though.

I know, but you know that even with their brilliant performances, that Lacey Turner's gonna get best actress at the next Soap Awards for the forty-seventh year in a row, OK slight exaggeration.

I doubt the incredible show that Coronation Street put on will win them any 'soap' awards. They will however, win every TV Bafta they are nominated for.

Carla is a force to be reckoned with isn't she? She's positively venomous tonight!

Tonight's episode is just brilliant. I think Jane Danson has let slip one hand on any award after Sally Dynevor's performance tonight (I've always loved Sally though - bloody fantastic actress). Julia Haworth was good tonight too as Claire. To be honest ... the only female who has let the side down, for me, is Katherine Kelly. I have no sympathy with her character at all.

You're right (Jark) about Alison King though (Carla) I hope when Peter recovers he ditches Leanne and gets it together with her. Leanne and Nick are SO right together.

Poor Norris! Poor Graeme! Poor John!

The episodes have been great this week and that comings from a NON corrie fan. The week has been well handled and the live episode was done great but as a huge eastenders fan im glad corrie didnt manage as high ratings as the live eastenders did. I know team corrie were hoping to beat eastenders live peak and its disapointing for corrie they didnt considering they spent alot more money on the live episode than eastenders.

I would love both soaps though to go out live all the time as the live episodes are more intense, i think emmerdale need to show us whta they are made of now with a live episode.

Even though eastenders mentioned corrie in the their episode last night i would loved eastenders to have done a news flash about the corrie tram crash like dot watching it on the news or somthing. I dlove if the 2 big soaps could interact more in that way as i loved loved the comic relief flash of the the 2 soaps interacting.

I liked the Corrie mention in EE and the CIN crossover but I wouldn't want any more interaction for a while. They're separate shows. And there were a few who weren't in the live. Off the top of my head Deidre wasn't and Liz McDonald hasn't been on all week.

For once we agree fully Norma! I have no qualms at all about giving Corrie the immense praise it deserves for this week. I always thought a big part of the reason I didn't enjoy the little I'd seen of Corrie was that the characters weren't my cup of tea but pretty much everybody at the fore of this week has been great. I actually think I might keep watching, at least whilst Carla is at the forefront. She's dynamite. Also I have to say Tina and Graeme have been beyond stellar. Two of my favourites from the week. I couldn't handle too much of Fiz though if I did begin watching regularly and Janice is absolutely vulgar.

I agree about Kat Kelly too. The character is absolutely awful even though Kat's a very capable actress. Is she always this deranged?! And don't even get me started on that sister of hers who popped up in the live. The idea of the traditional soap bitch is that you root for her. I never want that Kylie on my screen again. What a monstrosity!

But yes. Great week. I think if I was exec producer of a soap I'd do a live episode every year on its birthday. It brings such a lovely added sense of excitement and once a year would hardly be too much of a good thing.
