That's one thing i don't understand. Many people consider Leona a flop regarding her second album just cos of it's American performance - which still went to #13. But she has already sold 1.5 million copies of it worldwide, 600k of it in the UK and Happy has sold over 200k. That is not a flop. I Got You isn't doing too good but that is one single. Plenty of artists have them. Leona was bound to have one in this download era (songs available from album release).

Facts are facts and Leona has sold 600k with an 'underperforming' single, which is the only single so far. Alexandra has sold 500k with technically 3 huge singles (bar BH which was a moderately successful one).

I really like Alexandra but she'd be lucky if she got the sales and chart position that Leona got with this album - which hasn't got all it's sales yet.

And i'd like to add to the more off-topicage that i hate how brits feel the need to knock british successes down when they are hugely successful.

Have they opened a store on the moon? Hasn't she only sold around 200k in the joint American & Japanese markets & she hasn't topped the album chart or hung around for ages in the smaller countries. So where exactly have those non UK 900k sales come from??

mrlovett you confuse me, struggle to know if your a leona fan or not

Figures i have are 1.5mill too..

I'm a very big Leona fan, but I'm also level headed. And she's definitely at 1.4million, from the figures released at MusicWeek, we know she's at 1.4million.

Technically alex should be selling more as she has been in the public eye in UK alot more than leona has recently with broken heels out and the endless promo for badboys and support from TV & Radio. Not hitting 600.000 for her label would be a bit disapointing as i'm sure they would have been expecting success along the lines of JLS (already 1million on album sales with 3 top 10 hits).

I'm not saying alex hasnt done well, she has, but if her first album cant sell over 600,000 her second album definitely wont. However saying that i think the silence will possibly sell the album better then broken heels, but we'll have to wait and see..i'm sure that will be her last single from Overcome, not sure they'll do a deluxe either.

but what tacticz said didt make sense, as really she would hope alex's album sells as leona's second is as it is currently doing better then alex's debut...tacticz often makes silly comments. :-P

Anyway we should stick to itunes discussion...

glad lemar is up to #8 :yahoo:

Since when did being in the public eye have anything to do with album sales, if that was the case Peter Andre would have sold 2 million copies.Alex has released two uptempo songs which according to those in the know ballads are more likely to shift albums. This can be seen with Pixie Lott and Cry Me Out her album has had a big boost after two uptempo songs. Why would anyone expect JLS sales for Alex-Cheryl, Leona, Pixie none of the girls have sold a million and the reason is they do not have fanatical teen fans or 5 different album sleeves.Overcome will have at least two more single releases and a deluxe edition and you know it.When a year has passed for album sales for Echo and Overcome I am sure Overcome will surpass it as Leona even seems to be struggling to shift singles in this era.

Echo sold over 1.5 million? Are you sure that the sales that have been imported? Outiside UK and IRE. IT'S ONLY SOLD 320,000 COPIES WORLDWIDE!

Echo sold over 1.5 million. Outiside UK and IRE. IT'S ONLY SOLD 320,000 COPIES!

By end of 2009, Leona had sold 1.346 million copies of Echo in total (565,000 UK sales; 781,000 non-UK sales). Extrapolating forward based on known UK sales to 7 February 2010 (583,395), and using the same ratio of UK/WW sales as at the year end, Spiidey makes it about 1.390 million sales of Echo to date. Which puts it at 1.4million.

Well whatever. Glad she done well. Good to know but can we go back to iTunes discussion. The Leona talk is boring just like she is (musically).

Was that really necessary?

So an album that didn't top charts abroad & hasn't hung around in the top 10 for ages has outsold her UK sales. Sorry despite what MW say (who are known to make mistakes ) those figures don't add up but then if I was a Leona fan I would probably not question them either. ;)

Yep, let's keep on topic, and that doesn't include sticking insults towards whatever singer you don't like at the end of the sentence :kink:

MusicWeek are the most reliable place ;)

Well, it wasn't rude. :kink:

If someone wants to post their opinion on Leonas music then LET THEM instead of being so rude.

He was being unecessarily rude, artist bashing. Which is against the rules, I asked him if it was necessary. That's hardly rude...

Thanks Mrlovett for clearing that up.

Marrb sorry but leona sold 3million of Spirit, yes 3x JLS' debut, so yes i think alex's label would have expected at least a million with all the promo she has had and support of tv/radio. By public eye i mean promotion, radio and TV play etc not public eye in terms of peter andre who has no coverage on his actual music.

Also alex's main fanbase and target fanbase is teenage girls... one of the many differences between leona and alex is that leona appeals more to maturer audience, male & female, with easily relatable music..

..alex singing broken heels and badboys, straight away appeals to primarily young, female people. Her whole album, you'd be blind not to realise who it is aimed at and whether you like it or not it has underperformed.

i asked for us to drop it and continue itunes discussion but as always someone feels the need to carry it on and wish for a reply..

Anyway great news for Lemar, I hope this is the start of a great 2010 for him, hopefully he can hold onto a Top 10 spot.

Don't try to start an argument. You know there are lot's of people who love Leona in this thread.

I'm sure you wouldn't like it if people repeatedly slagged of Rihanna or GaGa (i don't do that anymore :kink:) ^_^

If there was any criticism in this thread directed at artists, at least make it constructive ;)
