February 13, 201015 yr Comments on the Top 10 & what I like of the rest.... 1. Aretha Franklin & George Michael - I Knew You Were Waiting For Me - A half decent duet co-writtenby Simon Climie if I recall. 2. Pepsi & Shirlie - Heartache - A very unremarkable effort. Sounds horrible now. 3. Curiosity Killed The Cat - Down To Earth - A good song, but this bland jazz-funk pop effort was proof that UK music was entering a rapid decline. 4. Randy Crawford - Almaz - A great old school ballad. 5. Blow Monkeys - It Doesn't Have To Be This Way - An OK song, but I prefer Digging Your Scene. 6. Taffy - I Love My Radio - An awful tacky record hyped by Bruno Brookes if I recall well. 7. Michael Crawford & Sarah Brightman - The Music Of The Night/Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again - It's ALW musical so you know what to expect. 8. Steve 'Silk' Hurley - Jack Your Body - A terrible repetitive house record. It's no Break 4 Luv is it? 9. Man 2 Man Meets Man Parrish - Male Stripper - An appalling tacky novelty record that became a big hit single thanks to the then plugging skills of a certain S. Cowell, proof that 23 years ago he was capable of getting $h!t into the UK Top 10. 10. Hot Chocolate - You Sexy Thing (Ben Liebrand Remix) - I've always disliked this song, and this remix was even more pointless. PS. Was I the only one who sung the misheard lyrics "Wear a bra, you sexy thing" ? 12. Smiths - Shoplifters Of The World Unite - The end was nigh for Manchester's finest, and music did not get any better than this. Morrissey's lyrics was inspired by the famous 1949 George Orwell quote with regard the UK becoming a nation of shopkeepers (Thatcher was in power of course) due to selling off its industries and companies to foreign ownership and therefore losing its identity. No doubt the Political Correct brigade would have this record banned today for implied racism/nationalism. However, I'm sure workers at Cadburys in Keynsham near Bristol would agree with its sentiments today. TRbp0ZIehk0 13. Elkie Brooks - No More The Fool 15. Alison Moyet - Is This Love? 16. Robbie Nevil - C'est La Vie 17. Eric Clapton - Behind The Mask 18. Level 42 - Running In The Family 22. Carly Simon - Coming Around Again 23. Jackie Wilson - Reet Petite 24. UB40 - Rat In Mi Kitchen 27. Rosie Vela - Magic Smile 28. Percy Sledge - When A Man Loves A Woman 31. Dead Or Alive - Something In My House 32. Pretenders - Hymn To Her 33. Mission - Wasteland 35.
