February 17, 201015 yr i dont like adam either and he is just a pointless charactor in my opinion as was mandy neither add to the show they were both wasted opportunities.
February 17, 201015 yr AND THE DEADLY SILENCE BEGINS It is a mandatory tradition. This must not be finished before October 2010, lest I appear lazy in comparison.
February 17, 201015 yr Author I was about to say, I'm slipping already! In fairness to me though people are still commenting (THANK YOU ALL). With any luck this should proceed tonight (or next month).
February 20, 201015 yr Author 55 (-) Sam Mitchell 2.50 http://i46.tinypic.com/15dpele.jpg For a time, fifteen years ago, when Eastenders was an almost entirely different programme, viewers loved Sam Mitchell. They loved her because they had not yet experienced the sheer visual treat of Sarah Michelle Gellar killing vamps, or of Teri Hatcher being inexplicably thick whilst dating the world's most famed news reporter-turned-cod piece adorner. To these uneducated viewers Margaret Thatcher had probably been considered a sex symbol, and so Daniella Westbrook, with her cheery smile and passable blonde locks, seemed like a ray of light. But then the world moved on. Cocaine stole Daniella's septum whilst people saw into the future, took the Sugababes' advice and got sexy right then. When Sam came back not only was she genuinely attractive, thanks to a handy re-cast, but she could also act. Win win. So what on earth the usually-impeccable Diederick Santer was thinking when he brought back the original Sam is beyond me. I don't believe I read a single comment during her brief and pointedly pointless four month return praising her acting ability. Westbrook's idea of crying was to bury her face behind either her hand or her foul silver sequined jacket and sniff what was left of her nose. She had potential - a fued with the two girls who had taken over her mantle as pervy punters' food for thought at the Vic, altercations with the flame-haired love rival who was so close to stealing back her one-time husband - but instead we were fed underbaked storylines about bail money and fake passports and a dreadful affair with Jack 'MDF' Branning. But let us not forget, she has TALANT. She can win a competition just by wearing a dress, because she's so beautiful. OH. 54 (50) Abi Branning 2.94 (2.88) http://i48.tinypic.com/2i9njur.jpg Why do perfect parents always produce charisma-free children? Tanya and Max were so busy being sexy that they forgot to inject any personality into their kids, but at least Lauren has the scope to become an ice queen murderess. Abi is destined to live a pleasant life and to any true soap fan this is NOT desirable. She will achieve 10 A-Cs at GCSE, including 3 A*s. She will occasionally socialise with Bernadette, but strictly between the hours of 4-7pm of a Wednesday eve, when crisps will be consumed. She will meet a dentist who will marry her and then invite her to live with him, but only once his dead mother's cat recovers from the stress its recent flea treatment. The best thing that could happen to her character is to join her half-brother at the pearly gates, although no doubt this would occur in an ultra-bland manner such as death by irregular heartbeat. No rooftop activity for this beige brat.
February 20, 201015 yr Agree wholeheartedly on Sam - Santer's done a pretty good job with EE, but the return of Westbrook was an absolute misfire. The worst thing is that we all KNEW how it was going to be, even before she made her appearance. I'm not going to claim Kim Medcalf was the greatets actress we've ever seen, but she did a competent job. Daniella's Sam may aswell have been a totally different character - she looked ropey as hell, and her character had totally transformed from a mob princess wannabe to a trashy useless slag - a 60 year old version of Katie Price. The odd thing is Daniella Westbrook isn't actually looking that bad herself, certainly on Dancing On Ice... I just don't get what the purpose of her return was - it didn't really contribute anything long-term plot-wise, and it was barely a bump in the Ricky/Bianca relationship. Totally pointless. Abi I disagree with - I don't think she's bad as far as the child stars go, and she's got the whole precocious brat thing going. Plenty of scope - I can see her either going one of two ways - becoming an utter daddy's girl a la Den/Sharon, or becoming the Square's posh strumpet a la Belinda Slater.
February 20, 201015 yr I agree about Abi for a cvhild she isnt that bad and there has certainly is far worse kid actresses on tv and she does her lines reasonably well, i always prefered kim metcalfs version of sam to daniella;s, daniella was alot better this time than her last return but she doesnt do alot for me at all, her return didnt do much for me and i didnt see the total popint of her return, if anything i think she was brought back so daniella could prove to herself that she had her own personnel problems dealt with, as in an eastenders point of view bringing her back just brought a bit of familiarty to the show that was about the highest point of her return.
February 21, 201015 yr I really can't stand Daniella Westbrook, Kim Metcalf was FAR superior! as for Abi, she is one of my worst ever characters, SO annoying!
February 21, 201015 yr Author I'm not saying Abi is a bad actress by any means, she just needs more to work with because at the minute she's a very one-dimensional character whose outlook seems to be 'what daddy says goes'. If Tanya was MY mother I would worship the very ground she walked on!
February 21, 201015 yr I'm not saying Abi is a bad actress by any means, she just needs more to work with because at the minute she's a very one-dimensional character whose outlook seems to be 'what daddy says goes'. If Tanya was MY mother I would worship the very ground she walked on! But you are an utter loon where Tanya is concerned. I think it's kind of refreshing in a way that Max has at least someone on his side, even if he is a pillock most of the time.
February 21, 201015 yr Ya she really is a loon when it comes tpo tanya but its nice at the same time to see such a daddys girl as in reality there are some girls of that age who just think their dad is god and will always side with them, and i know as i suppose in a way my own daughter is a bit like that but on that level.
February 21, 201015 yr Sam was one of my favourites back when it was Kim playing her. If they bring back Sam (again!) it has to be Kim surely. Abi is awful. The character is written about 5 years younger than what she should be half the time aswell. It's the even more female version of Ben.
February 21, 201015 yr Yes if sam returns again id love it to be kim but i think it will be daniella again if it does happen.
February 21, 201015 yr Author 53 (-) Debra Dean 3.40 http://i49.tinypic.com/30xd4ec.jpg It is of course customary to criticise low finishers but I don't really think Debra Dean deserves that. It's been a while since we last glimpsed her (testimony to my Shoat-like snail pace) but cast your minds back to the misguided day that Whitney decided she wanted to know her real mother. She tempted her address out of Bianca but what she found was not encouraging. A waitress who had the air of somebody living in a permanent post-cocaine haze, Debra seemed to be thoroughly unhinged. They definitely could've done more with her than fob her off with a 'mystery' about a key in an envelope, but there you go. She got the job done and acted as a means of introducing Ryan. And aren't we all elated about that? No. We are not.
February 21, 201015 yr Debra was ok a bit of a selfosh madam but i suppose we didnt get to know her very real but she reminded me alot of shirleys early days, and if she had remained a full time charactor i think it would have been shirley mark 2 so thats probably why she was only a short term charactor.
February 22, 201015 yr Do you know I barely remember Debra at all, so she probably deserves a low placing for lack of impact. The female Gus.
February 22, 201015 yr Gus never had the slightest bit of impact i dont know how he survived so long on eastenders.
February 22, 201015 yr Gosh, Debra, low times! I don't know if it's because I wasn't paying much attention to the omnibus that week, but that storyline with her, Ryan, Whitney and the knife is possibly my lowest point in the past year or so. I really couldn't have cared what direction it was going in and I tend to forget where it did lead.
