September 1, 201014 yr I was so disappointed that 'Delta' wasn't released here, I loved 'In This Life'. Top 3 on my Personal Chart I'll have you know! But then at the time Katona was extremely popular (even I loved her back then) so Delta didn't have the best reputation after seemingly destroying Kerry's marriage.
September 1, 201014 yr I think everyone is over the Kerry thing no, considering she is viewed as a public hate figure now... i think people can understand why Brian left her. Plus Delta's second album did badly in the UK, the first single from it wasn't strong enough and the second with Brian did well.. was stupid that there was no 3rd single really! I hope Delta does do a UK tour, I'll make sure i'm on the front row! I think it will be very hard for Delta to get a hit album/Single again in the UK now though... most of her fans have grown up and do not care about her anymore, so she would have to get those back and then get younger fans to know who she is, as they won't have a clue... it'd take a pretty amazing song which is catchy from the first listen... and at this moment in time, i can't see her achieving that... but i WANT to be proven wrong.

I agree. Delta doesn't face the Brian/Kerry backlash anymore, but I think her fans have grown-up/moved on and she was never HUGE anyway from what I can remember. I would love her to come back with something edgy and amazing though, but she's very much a balladeer and that's just not IN at the moment.

She's confirmed that she's going back to her roots for the new album, which means lots of piano ballads probably. Great for me and her original fans but it's not really going to give her a UK comeback, unless she features on a Tinie Tempah single first to get her face back out there again  Innocent Eyes was shockingly huge (sold almost a million here) but she never had a particularly high public profile. She was really only known in the UK for being in Neighbours, and then for the whole Brian thing. She did manage to chalk up five top ten hits though, which is quite impressive for somebody with such seemingly low public interest.

It is impressive but there are plenty of people to have done well in the charts (especially in the early 00s with sales as dire as they were) but they haven't lasted long. Christina Milian keeps springing to mind as someone quite successful but never particularly big in the UK. I'm very glad her album did as well as it did though. I think she found it hard to escape the 'Neighbours' association, after it was the platform that launched her... then there's the whole Brian stuff... and like you say, she's hardly going to appear on a Tinchy Stryder record these days is she?

Yer i agree, and i can't see her coming out with a ballad to change that mood... Her first album sold 820,000 in the UK apparently? i guess it could have trickled quite a bit by now too as woolworths use to have to for like 3quid forever and it has been years since any form of update, so it would be interesting to see what it stands at now.

Indeed. I mentioned her about 10 minutes ago in another thread as an example of this  Another one is Ashanti, what on earth happened to her? :o And she must have featured on 6 or 7 top ten hits at least, including that seminal 2004 #1 hit, Wonderful. Ironic title.

I'll listen to it in a bit and get back to you. It was so nothingy :o Checked on Polyhex, Ashanti had these top ten hits in the UK; Always On Time #6 What's Luv #4 Foolish #4 Down 4 U #4 Rock Wit U (Awww Baby) #7 Wonderful #1 Only U #2 Even more successful than Christina Milian, yet she seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth for at least the last 5 years. You'd need to be a BIG star in 2010 to score 7 top ten hits like that in the space of a couple of years.
September 1, 201014 yr Maybe the media now targets a few artists they are interested in and writes about them all the time without giving smaller acts many column inches... on top of that, there are no promotional outlets anymore... delta was ALWAYS on saturday/sunday kids tv, now we only have a pretentious T4 that isn't the same anyway, it's just about a few crappy tv shows, no June/Vern Chatshow vibe. Even late night chat shows, there arent really many? or daytime tv shows? not even paul o'grady or J Ross anymore... They have loose women, this morning and GMTV, and how many teenagers are watching them, excluding uni students who are hungover and don't buy music...
September 1, 201014 yr I am LOVING the return of Jacky :P I agree that the demise of TV pop/music shows has contributed to quite the change in the music scene. It's sad really. Just look at the X Factor to see what a difference an appearance on a mainstream TV show can make!
September 1, 201014 yr Get her back on X Factor to relaunch her here, if you can't beat them join them! She has links with Westlife after all  She was on X Factor with them in 2006; _3-_DaukjqU She should have released Delta in 2007 and come back and performed In This Life or Believe Again on it. Would have scored her a top ten single/album for sure then. I remember being so pleased seeing her back on TV when this was on, and that was FOUR years ago :drama:

I think mainstream artists should be more willing to do signings too, It worked for the saturdays and i know if Delta was going to be in my nearest HMV, i'd be there to buya copy of her CD just to meet her, even tho i harldy ever get around to buying music! ha They need more tv adverts/ give aways and random promotional activities ha Edited September 1, 201014 yr by Jack89

They only let HUGE acts on... but then again they Show is about finding new talent and helping the underdog, so why is it always HUGE acts on? Stupid really... Edited September 1, 201014 yr by Jack89
September 2, 201014 yr I doubt they'd let her now! They only let HUGE acts on... but then again they Show is about finding new talent and helping the underdog, so why is it always HUGE acts on? Stupid really... but Simon Cowell LOVES Delta. He has used Delta's song TWICE on American Idol. I'm sure she made a good impression when they met, he is a sucker for beautiful women too :P m5KR905pP-k as for Delta touring in the UK.... i strongly believe she should release a double disk album...The new album combinded with the Delta album. The Delta album has so many great tracks and really should be shared with UK fans. Die hard fans would have heard the material but many of the uk public wouldnt have. She also needs songs to sing on tour... she needs her fans to know the songs (if she performs any songs off the Delta album)
September 2, 201014 yr I saw that on AI at the time, I couldn't believe they were singing Together We Are One  Carrie and Kelly sound 100 times better than anyone else on the track but I'll still take Delta's version. I don't think it suits a big group like that singing one line each, although the chorus where they all come together is nice.

It annoyed me that he never got her on Idol to promote in this life, considering he used her single so many times!
September 3, 201014 yr I can't see them doing a double disc album for the UK if we get the 4th album properly released here, however I wouldn't rule out them tacking In This Life and Believe Again on as UK bonus tracks, like The Veronicas did with 4Ever and Everything I'm Not on their UK release.
