Robbie Williams' five Take That tracks

25th Feb 2010

The 36-year-old singer, who quit the group - consisting of Gary Barlow, Jason Orange, Howard Donald and Mark Owen - in 1995 has been busy in the studio with his former band mates, but has no plans to make any live appearances with them.

A source said: "There's been much speculation as to what they plan to do but it will definitely be a record and not a tour - for now anyway. Fans will not be disappointed with the results."

Rumours of a collaboration were triggered last month when the singer spent five hours in a Los Angeles studio (26.01.10) singing and recording with his old bandmates and was then spotted hugging each of them as he left.

A source revealed at the time: "All the signs are looking good. It's great news for the fans. They're using this time in Los Angeles to start working together as a band again. They were delighted with the session and were congratulating each other as they left. They're using this time together to crack on with reunion songs."

Take That were in the city to record their parts for Simon Cowell's charity single, which was released to raise funds for the relief effort for Haiti's earthquake victims.

Perez Hilton has the same story

This is pretty exciting news for all of you! :manson:

Sources have confirmed that Robbie Williams and the other fellas of Take That have completed five tracks off their new album. With those tracks laid out, it is likely that a new album could be out by the end of this year.

Excellent! We can hear your squeals of joy from here! :nocheer:

Now, hold on just a second, because there is one other announcement the source made that might put you into a foul mood. As of now, the boys have no intention to tour with this album. In fact, they may not make any public appearances at all.

So that's a bummer.

But at least there will be some new music to rock out to.

<_<

There was an article in MW I posted where Tim Clark says it is possible that the upcoming GH will possibly feature some songs Rob wrote with Gary. I'd much rather that, with the other songs featuing on a TT album then a whole album collaboration. How I wish they would just get the whole thing over with - how anyone can find this interesting anymore is frankly beyond me.

And im sick of the media thinking all the fans want this to happen. The only good thing is that there may be no performances. -_-

This story sounds more like a TT album

Would be interesting to get Norma's reaction......

I, personally, don't care one way or the other, to be honest......like everyone else, I'm a bit miffed at the will they/won't they schtick.....

There once was serious debate,

Enough where it caused some hate,

If together they record,

I won't be bored,

I know I'm not them going to slate......

Hmm yeah, I supose it is just wishful thinking. :(

As long as some serious effort is put into the new Greatest Hits, and a DVD will all the vids is released, I'll happily ignore any collaboration with the lads. -_-

Norma probably has her head in the oven by now....

I'd join her. If I had a gas supply. :P

Not interested at all Biggie! I'm as sick of Take That now as I am of Robbie. You can't even say the media is all to blame. Robbie and Gary could put this whole thing to rest if they just said 'look guys ... it ain't happening' or 'yes ... it is going to happen ... a record and a few performances next year'. All this from (both of them) saying 'Something 'Big' is going to happen' is quite frankly ... laughable. Anyone would think we were talking John Lennon and the Beatles here! They just aren't important ... but Rob (and Gary) seem to have an inflated idea of their own importance. Both of them enjoy the speculation as much as the media enjoys speculating. As an observer now though ... I can see a lot of Take That fans getting pissed off by it all as they don't want them together (ever) and idiots like Perez Hilton (who doesn't know Jack-sh*t about UK acts anyway) assumes there are a load of fans out there wetting their knickers at the prospect of a 'get-together'.

I suppose what is annoying though (for the few Rob fans and Take That fans that actually do care) is them being left out of the loop.

Norma

On another note ... have you heard the French song 'Voila' (1967) ... listen to the first couple of second of it ... Rob took it as the beginning to YKM (he has given the writer a credit on this occasion though I believe)

Never liked Take That with or without Robbie. It's not good idea for me, but if Robbie wants this let it be. In my opinion collaboration is more profitably for TT than Robbie, with him TT can get some international suсcess.

I dont want snub lads, but in my country they are known only as band where RW began his career

RW and TT may not be the beatles + John Lennon, but a collaboration would be extremely huge, especially for the british market, as RW and TT recently became the biggest selling solo and group from the last "years"... especially RW already is a legendary artist for the UK market and some international territories.

so i'm all excited by these news.

Oh geez five songs???

Oh well will just ignore them, never was a TT fan, they're pretty much nothing in Oz these days so it won't be important here.

I think (and hope) that it backfires on both of them. Don't underestimate the number of fans who only started to get into Take That this time round because it was 'sans Rob'. Also they've increased the number of males that are fans (I've noticed it with each successive concert I've been to) I mean big hairy AC/DC fans who were dragged along reluctantly by their other halves but left saying the concerts (particularly this Circus Tour) were the best they'd ever seen. And no way on earth will any self-respecting Rob fan buy into anything Take That related.

I'm quite certain that (even though there will have been a financial incentive put on the table to make it happen) that this venture will be one enormous FLOP!

I think you're wrong. I think it will be more damaging for Take That than it will be profitable. Robbie will survive whatever. Although this whole affair makes him look a bit of a tit - is he now asking his fans to believe that the act he has poked fun at for years (and got huge laughs at his concerts) are now actually 'not that bad'. Take That are idiots for letting it happen as it makes people think they need Rob (when they don't) and him an idiot as he is effectively backtracking on all the things he's said. When he falls out with them again ... is he going to spin his 'Gary Barlow is the devil incarnate' story again. Probably ... and probably his fans will believe him.

With regard to 'further' success ... Take That will never have success outside the UK and Ireland with or without Robbie ... they know this ... and family commitments mean that I dont' think either of them want it ... and so I cannot see why they are going through all this crap again. If either of them think it will 'crack' the States ... forget it ... neither of them will do it ... with or without the other. JLS, Cheryl Cole and NDubz have more of a chance than Take That or Robbie.

Norma

Edit! For the record ... these 'five tracks' ... everyone is assuming they're new songs. My betting is that they've re-recorded the best-known Take That songs from the first era with perhaps Rob on lead ... just for this 'Greates Hits 20 Years' album. I doubt they've written anything new.

but human beings can evolve and progress and I'm glad that rob and tt can now accept each other and become friends. since their reunion tt have become very much loved, and rob if you like it or not has always been a part of them, whether he was with them or not.

if its done in the right way, a reunion, just for 1 album, can enlighten the old times when they have been an european mega hit...

It's not good to get toooooooo emotional over all this  , it's just Robbie's 'latest hobby horse' , dying to hear the results of their collab though <_< do I care whether he is buddies with his old pals again.... NOT REALLY

it's just Robbie's 'latest hobby horse'

I agree with this! :)

dying to hear the results of their collab though

I'm more excited about the thought of getting my eyebrows waxed this Friday if I'm honest. The 'collaboration' is bound to be boring!

I'm in full agreement with you Norma. If it was just a collaboration between Rob and Mark there would be a good chance of it being somewhat interesting, something with a bit of an edge to it. However seeing as reports suggest the songs are being written with Gary only, I am afraid the outcome won't be anything fresh or remotely intriguing, as I can't imagine he would be open to that, or really anything apart from what he is used to... but there is nothing wrong with that....some pop stars are versatile and some are not...besides the less diverse an act is these days the more successful they are. I would like however, for the laugh to hear Gary do some of the more bizzaire material Rob has done over the years..would make for some superb entertainment. Gaz is after all vocally and musically the modern day Cliff Richard with a hint of Jason Donovan thrown in for good measure, and looks wise he is a dead ringer of a slightly less chubby James Cordon..... yep, if this film about Rob's life ever materialises, James Cordon would be the ideal candidate to play Gary. Really though.. if Gary had've had a successful solo career we would'nt have to endure all of this...I don't really get why it never took off...afterall the material was very much the same as expected... the sort of stuff he has a knack for...MOR inoffensive, VERY easily-listening bland supermarket. generic ballady pop ideal for the soundtrack to a nice dinner party of some description.... I could never really understand where it all went wrong from there... I guess it was simply a case of him being just that tad too bland on his own...people needed something to hold their interest...without the rest of the lads break-dancing people just were not interested in the music which was a great shame as I firmly believe had Gary had a successfull career TT would've never have got back together...well maybe for a one off but not permanently. It's a crying shame Gary never became mates with Louis Walsh back then as he would've been the perfect manager to enable him to be a success..... Louis Walsh, despite all his faults definatly knows what that target audience wants.... so perhaps instead of getting people like Madonna to pen tracks for his solo career, he would've been better off following Louis Walsh's path and doing covers of Cliff (I can just see him now doing a splendid cover of 'The Millenium Prayer' now...talk about a well suited track) and Barry Manilow tracks and the like, think of all the options. A Christmas album could've been an annual treat for you to look forward to Norma  . It would've been a success I bet.

And I think you are being too harsh on TT and their abilities in terms of international success...... with the Robster on board they are pretty much guarenteed a huge hit, well as long as he has the majority vocals in a collaborative manner as oppose to just being another backing singer to Mr Barlow. I just hope the lads don't have any idea of taking advantage of Rob's simply enormous popularity and astonishingly impressive ability to sell out stadiums in minutes accross the globe - as us Rob fans won't be best pleased - you TT fans have been spoilt when it comes to touring, they have done three or four since reforming ... so I hope Rob gets all of this TT nonsence out of the way and then does a tour. Not a massive one like the Close Encounters one, as he doesn'nt need that sort of pressure at this stage - a smaller tour spread out over a longer period would be perfect. And who knows, maybe the lads could be his support act? That way it's a win win situation, they get the exposure of a global audience and we wouldnt have to endure any tour with the together, but rather one where they would both do their own sets - and the TT fans who don't like Rob could just leave once they completed their set - at which point the Rob fans who dislike TT would arrive - a win win situation is you ask me. :D
