The Sugababes are being sued by founder member Keisha Buchanan - who is trying to BAN the group from using their name.

Keisha, who formed the band in 1998, has launched a legal bid to claim a stake in the Sugababes brand - which she says has grown into a multi-million pound business over the past 12 years.

Keisha - who was forced to quit the chart-toppers last September - has now demanded that the current line-up of Heidi Range, Amelle Berrabah and Jade Ewen call themselves something else or pay her a one-off sum which could potentially be millions of pounds.

If her dramatic High Court action is successful, it could spell the end for the band, who are soon due to release their new album Sweet 7.

Last night an industry insider said: "This is a landmark case and will send shockwaves through the industry.

"The Sugababes are one of the most successful girl bands of all time, but if they are forced to change their name it would be absolutely disastrous for them.

"It would be very hard for them to maintain any credibility if they had no original band members and were called something different.

"Keisha was an integral member from the very beginning so it is easy to understand why she is acting like this. She even came up with the band's name Originals: Mutya, Keisha & Siobhan Donaghy with fellow founder member Mutya Buena and deserves something for making the Sugababes what they are today."

Keisha, 25, left the band last September in a storm of controversy amid claims she had been forced out by Heidi, 26, and Amelle, 25. It was reported that Heidi had "gone to war" with Keisha because she had allegedly bullied Amelle constantly.

On quitting, Keisha issued a statement blaming the split on "a breakdown in communication and lack of trust" and said it was not her choice to leave to the band.

Since then she has been replaced with new member - Eurovision contestant Jade, 22 - and the group have released two successful singles.

In recent interviews they have spoken about the split, saying they are happier than ever now Keisha is not a member.

Get that money queen K.

It's not going to work anyway. The name is for the label.

And if there are still any Keisha fans around, this is just prove Keisha is a bitch.

1) She waited with this a few weeks before the release of Sweet 7

2) She doesn't even wanna use the name she just wants to see the girls in pain obviously

3) She needs some publicity now that she's lauching her solo career and all the news around the new line-up was improving and people were actually liking them again.

So all that she really did was showing that she's a bigger bitch than we thought already.

I give her a 0% chance that this is going to work though. But at least she gets some attention?

If this is true, it really is showing that Keisha is a b*tch, and I doubt it will work.

Any respect for Keisha I previously had, I just lost.

Also wouldn't it be Island Records she would sue? which would be stupid considering that is who she is signed with for her solo album.

The return of the bitch.

Is it true anyway? It's a very stupid move for Keisha. And I think she, Mutya & Heidi had signed a deal with Island giving them this brand before recording 'Angels'.

Quiche can fukk off, hope she is bankrupted pulling $h!t like this

She is just a parasite that is trying to get some cheap publicity for her fading career at a time S7 is coming out

She hasn't got a chance of pulling this one off as she does not own the brand name

Stupid mare wants to make a fool of herself let her

Team kesha?? Kesha who lool. So many people I no that didn't like sugababes when ther were no originals left well most have liked them again and kesha can try but she won't lol.

Keisha Buchanan is reportedly suing the current Sugababes in an attempt to stop the band from using its name.

Buchanan was asked to leave the band last year and was replaced by Jade Ewen. The move meant that none of the original Sugababes members were still involved in the band.

According to the Sunday Mirror, Buchanan has now launched a legal bid to claim a stake in the band, which she founded in 1998.

The High Court action reportedly demands that the current Sugababes members - Ewen, Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah - either change the group's name or pay her a one-off sum, which could amount to millions of pounds.

"This is a landmark case and will send shockwaves through the industry," a source said. "The Sugababes are one of the most successful girlbands of all time, but if they are forced to change their name it would be absolutely disastrous for them.

"It would be very hard for them to maintain any credibility if they had no original band members and were called something else.

"Keisha was an integral member from the very beginning so it is easy to understand why she is acting like this. She even came up with the band's name with fellow founder member Mutya Buena and deserves something for making the Sugababes what they are today."

Range recently claimed that being in the Sugababes was "unbearable" before the lineup change.

Normally I'd think this was pathetic but GOOD ON HER! I've been waiting for this since she was ousted. There are no originals and therefore they have no right to keep the name. I hope she wins :D

there's already a thread and she has no chance.
If you'd have told me this time last year that i'd end up with no respect or likeability for Keisha then I wouldnt have believed you. But now she's truely outdone herself. Please go away Keisha, asap if you dont mind.

Keisha talking about Heidi:

"I was a complete bitch to Heidi at first because I just couldn't get over the fact that we had been working hard from the age of 12 and then this girl comes from nowhere and has it handed to her on a plate. I made her life hell, to the point that she wanted to go home."

Siobhan talking about Keisha:

"There was no doubt that I was pushed out. It was clear that there was someone in that band who never wanted me in it and that’s Keisha. She never wanted me in that band and made my life a living hell. I’ll never forgive her. Though no-one forgives that first bully in their lives, do they? No-one does."

This was posted by someone on DigitalSpy.

I was shocked.

I always heard Keisha is a bully but this is awful. It's horrible. Now I am officially on the 4.0 support wagon and hope Keisha's solo career will burn in hell and that Keisha herself will burn in hell too. (She ruined Sugababes 1.0 :().

Good thing Heidi was strong enough. Poor Siobhan.

Good for her.

Neither of the girls in this group came up with the name and I find it hilarious when watching them perform "Freak Like Me" considering Heidi was the only one to record vocals for it.

Keisha never actually came up with the name either it was their original manager i thought? Which is another reason.
Actually the Sugababes was the band name Keisha Siobhan and Mutya invented when they were 13 :)
Does this mean Siobhan & Mutya could get a slice of the pie (if it's true)?
