Robbie Williams' cheeky dig at Mark Owen Friday, March 19, 2010, 15:50 [iST]

London (ANI): After ‘Take That’ member Mark Owen admitted his womanising and drinking habits, fellow band mate Robbie Williams said he is glad he is not the one in trouble this time. The singer performed at a small gig in London, where he addressed the crowd before singing his track ‘Bodies’.

This is going to be one of the best nights of my life, do you know, it's nice to be one of the only ones out of Take That not in trouble this week? That's a surprise, isn't it?" Sky News quoted him as saying.

Meanwhile, Owen admitted to cheating on his wife Emma. He has apparently sought advice from Williams.

ROBBIE WILLIAMS: HE'S BACK (BUT NOT FOR GOOD)

ROBBIE Williams will definitely rejoin Take That for an album.

But before all you diehard fans break open the bubbly, take note: the Robster won’t be back for good.

The “boys” are out to reclaim their biggest boyband title from JLS by recording TWO albums this year – one with Robbie and one without.

My source close to the pop kings told me: “After taking a bit of time out Gary and the boys are now focused on bringing out two albums.

“The idea at the moment is to release two records.

“One with Robbie will hopefully be ready for Christmas and then one without him early next year.

“The band will be working with Madonna’s favourite producer Stuart Price who is currently working on Kylie’s big comeback album, so fans can expect a slightly different sound.” Is that the kerching of a cash register I hear !!

Let’s just hope the lads find the time – what with all that extra activity Mark and Howard seem to be enjoying lately.

But before karaoke king Robbie plans to rule the world once more with Gary, Mark, Howard and Jason he’s desperate to shed those fat rings.

The Rock DJ knows he’s replaced old arch-enemy Gary as the chubby one of the group so he’s vowed to lose some

excess pounds.

Covering up in a large granddad cardie at an intimate gig for Heart Radio, Mr Williams revealed: “I’m a little bit porky at the moment and I have to do sexy. Give me a few months so I can get in shape and take my clothes off.”

With his wedding to Ayda Field on the horizon as well, it’s not surprising he only asked for fruit and protein bars on

his rider.

I wonder if Robbie’s decision to relive the group’s glory days has anything to do with his latest single Morning Sun

bombing.

A grumpy Rob told the crowd: “This song went in this week at number thirty f**king five, number thirty f**king five...but I hope you enjoy it anyway.”

I certainly did lad. Personally think it’s one of your best songs in ages.

It went in at 60 Rob!

I'm glad that when this 'joint' venture is out of the way they'll go separate ways again. Hopefully Robbie onward and upwards in his nice, comfortable MOR mode he's found himself, and Take That just disband again. In some ways I hope both albums perform relatively badly (I think it would be a much needed kick up the ass if they actually flopped) as I think all parties (with the possible exception of Jason) are arrogant beyond belief.

Dont you like any of them anymore Norma

A whole album? I thought it was just 5 songs?

It's getting worse by the minute

Luckily the whole new album (with Stuart Price) is the solely Take That album. I'm pretty sure that the 'five tracks' talk album is just going to be a nostalgic re-mash of stuff they did from the first time round with Rob 'all mates playing together'. I really don't want Rob cheapening anything new that TT do. But you're right ... I'm going off Take That (apart from Jason ... and Gary is still in my good books ... just!) Mark is just a snivelling little cheat as far as I'm concerned and if Emma has any sense she'll kick him out and take him for every penny he has got! Howard ... well we all knew he was a bit of a womanizer ... and he had already been separated from Marie Christine before this romp with the married woman ... and I'm sure that the woman was more aware of the fact that she was married than Howard was. Not that he'd care either way!

I was thinking more of Rob's singing style contaminating an otherwise refreshing Take That offering. Or as Charlie Brooker explained when speaking of Popstars(later X-Factor) contestants and the syle of singing they choose to adopt 'a homogenised transatlantic 'singing voice' ... you know ... the one ... Robbie Williams uses it permanently, and it knocks all the soul from a tune with the brutal efficiency of a carpet-beater'. Yes, Popstars is pretty mindless: yes, it's yet another programme that insists on treating the canon of Ronan Keating/Robbie Williams/Celine Dion with a wholly undeserved respect'. I've only recently started reading Brooker for other reasons, but he puts his finger precisely on what I despise so much about Williams and hope that after he's 'played with his mates' he buggers off to bore the very easily pleased fans he has.

Apart from a few songs (and they were Gary and Howard sung ones) Take That were pretty crap the first time as a fivesome ... why the hell they think they'll be any different when they bring back this useless fifth limb goodness only knows.

& Talking of Tours :)

ROBBIE WILLIAMS is locking horns with management about touring at the end of the year.

The pop superstar is still not sure if he wants to go on the road, but bosses have already begun finalising plans.

He is being urged to commit to a series of shows to promote his latest album Reality Killed the Video Star starting in November, but so far he's refusing to entertain the idea. A source said: "Tempers are fraying because Robbie is non-commital at the moment.

"He's made no secret that he doesn't want to tour this time round but his management firm, IE Management, are keen to get him out after such a successful comeback.

"He is beginning to come round to the idea but is still unsure.

"People are becoming restless."

I don't blame him for being apprehensive. He has admitted suffering from crippling stage fright so will also have to face up to one of his ultimate fears by going back out on the road.

His last tour in 2006 is littered with painful memories. He was battling a drug addiction and had to cancel a string of dates.

Last year he confessed to me that he used to guzzle "heart-stopping" quantities of prescription drugs.

Since then Robbie has rebuilt his life and himself.

But although he's not keen on touring, he is softening his stance.

At his one-hour show organised by Heart radio as part of Heart Love Music Live on Thursday last week, Robbie was asking fans whether they'd watch him again.

Quizzing the audience, he said: "Who wants to see me on tour? I might do one later this year.

"Would any of you come and see me? If I do do it, I won't be on drugs this time."

Seeing as 2.4million fans applied for just 300 seats at the London gig, I don't think he'll have any problem shifting tickets.

Perhaps he should sit down and write a pros and cons list.

I could think of a few for him.

The pros: the buzz of being on the road, millions of fans screaming your name, plus mountains of cash.

The cons: stage fright, the stress of being on the road, missing the dogs and LA lifestyle and putting on hold DVD nights with the cracking missus.

If I was him, I'd get this tour out of the way and concentrate full-time on golf, five-a-side football and baby making...

Robbie Williams tour could be announced within weeks

Robbie Williams is the best loved singer in the UK and that is not just In2town Lifestyle Magazine who says that, just ask all the millions of Robbie Williams fans. But fans may be disappointed to learn that although his management company are planning for Robbie Williams to tour, the superstar singer does not want to go back out on the road.

The ex Take That singer management company, IE have already started planning a tour, which is rumoured to be a huge tour to celebrate the return of Robbie Williams, but there could be one big problem with the tour, it may not include Robbie Williams.

Robbie has made his feelings clear that he does not want to tour at the moment, but his management company have told him he needs to tour. At the moment there is a stalemate, Robbie says he does not want to tour while IE say he has to tour and neither side are backing down.

A source at IE management have said: “Robbie was dead against the idea, although now he is slowly coming around to the idea but to be honest unless Robbie says yes he is 100% behind the tour, it will not go ahead.”

The management company behind Robbie want to capitalise on the huge success of his return album and have told the star that his fans want to see him back out on the road.

Although Robbie loves his fans, he is worried about going on tour and fears his dreaded stage fright, which in the past has made him ill.

The tour in 2006 had a number of dates cancelled which was down to illness that included his stage fright fear and Robbie knows if he goes out on tour again, he has to be 100% fit as he does not want to let down his fans, but the memories of his last tour with the stage fright does scare him.

Fans of Robbie Williams have been asking for months if he will tour again, fearing comments made by the star that he may never tour again, may be true. But if his management have anything to do with it, a tour will be announced very shortly and the tickets will be guaranteed to sell out within hours.

Easily pleased fans? Says someone who cites the MOR bland-fest that is 'Beautiful World' as one of the best albums they have heard. Talk about being easily pleased. I can only assume you havent heard an awful lot of albums, in which case I'd strongly advise you invest your time more wisely and listen to some different music instead of wasting your time of obsessing over someone who you don't even like - afterall at this stage I think you have achieved the unthinkable Norma and overtaken TT themselves in terms of predictability. :P I hear they are going to attempt to try something different with the next record though (although let's be honest - it will still bore the pants of most people, as they really don't quite grasp what the word 'risk' means, bless em. .. it will still be aimed at the Tesco shoppers in the most obvious of ways  ) so perhaps you should follow suit with a change and stop harping on about Robbie 24/7 - or at least get some new material - it's becoming (almost) as repetitive as that timeless music (and of course not forgetting 'those' lyrics) masterpiece 'Greatest Day'

The greatest front men of all time

By Neil McCormick

Is Liam Gallagher of Oasis really the greatest front man of all time?

Readers polls are a bad advertisement for democracy.

The new issue of music Q magazine has a list of the best front men of all time, as voted for by their readers.

Here’s the top 20. Gird your loins

1) Liam Gallagher

2) Bono

3) Freddie Mercury

4) Damon Albarn

5) Chris Martin

6) Matt Bellamy

7) Jim Morrison

8) Bob Marley

9) Paul McCartney

10) John Lennon

11) Robbie Williams

12) Debbie Harry

13) Mick Jagger

14) Morrissey

15) John Lydon

16) James Brown

17) Bruce Springsteen

18) Robert Plant

19) Tom Meighan

20) Joe Strummer

So there you have it. It’s the triumph of Britpop. Not only is Liam Gallagher of Oasis the greatest frontman of all time (official) but we’ve got Blur and Coldplay in the top five. Of all time! And the current crop of Brit rockers Muse and Kasabian see off the claim of Roger Daltrey (with The Who) and Jimi Hendrix (The Experience).

Anyway, the criteria seem quite confused. Not sure if Debbie Harry ever considered herself a frontman. And if she counts, where’s Janis Joplin? Which throws up the whole slightly confusing issue of solo artists. If Robbie Williams and James Brown can be counted as frontmen, then where’s David Bowie and Prince? Or for that matter Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson? And if you start counting them, where do Lady GaGa and Beyonce fit in? And if we’re talking all time, what about Louis Armstrong, Al Jolson and Frank Sinatra. And that’s only going back a century

So, to restore some sanity to this, I have provided an alternative top ten of the greatest band front men and women in the history of rock, only including those solo artists who perform as part of a regular group. And we’re talking live performance here and really fronting the music, which, I think, discounts The Beatles, as obviously great as they were.

Think of this as a public service (and pray that Q’s readers are too young to vote in the general election).

1) Mick Jagger

2) Bruce Springsteen (with the E Street Band)

3) Jimi Hendrix (with The Experience)

4) Bono

5) Jim Morrison

6) Freddie Mercury

7) Liam Gallagher

8) Janis Joplin (with Big Brother & The Holding Company)

9) Robert Plant

10) Roger Daltrey

And actually I accept that Prince and James Brown may be better frontmen than the lot of them, but they are both really solo artists. And hovering at the edges of my list were Johnny Rotten (with The Sex Pistols), Bob Marley (with The Wailers), Iggy Pop (with The Stooges), Peter Gabriel (with Genesis), Joe Strummer (with The Clash), Morrissey (with The Smiths) and David Byrne (with Talking Heads). And I love Debbie Harry too, but I saw Blondie quite a bit back in the day, and believe me, she went a hell of a long way on sex appeal …

OK, I’m battening down the hatches now. You can tell me what you think. Just remember … this is NOT a democracy!

The list is a total joke. Firstly, why is Robbie even on it? He is a solo artist.

Secondly, as big of an Oasis fan as I am, Liam is FAR from being the best frontman of all time. Firsty he had nothing to do with writing the vast majority of Oasis songs and secondly, while he has obviously got great stage presence and charisma on stage (not many performers could pull off just standing in the one position whilst having the crown in the palm of their hand) he is noot a good enough singer either. He IS a great frontman and has his plac ebut not in the top 10.

The order is very questionable. Firstly Mick Jagger and Robert Plant should be top 5 at least and Chris Martin and Tom Meighan (Kasabien) have no place in the top 20 when there are so many glaring omissions. Where are the likes of Thom York, Michael Stipe, Steve Tyler, Jimmy Hendrix ,Rodger Daltrey, Phil Lynott, Lou Reed, Marc Boland, Tom Petty, John Fogerty, Ronnie Drew and endless others?

My personal top 5 based on everything, especially live performing would be:

1. Bono

2. Freddy Mercury

3. Mick Jagger

4. Bruce Springsteen

5. Robert Plant

And Lennon and McCartney were more joint frontmen of the Beatles, although perhaps they are in there for Wings and Plastic ono band? :P

Neil's list is better than the Q one. Speaking of the list, have a look at the front cover of the magazine. It sayts there is an interview with the Robster :o :D
