Posted March 18, 200619 yr Manics deny split rumours Source: Virgin.Net "Welsh rockers Manic Street Preachers have played down rumours they are set to split, despite two members of the band recording solo albums. Bassist Nicky Wire and lead singer James Dean Bradfield have announced plans to release solo records - prompting speculation that the group were on the verge of splitting up. But Wire has confirmed the three-piece have already started writing the follow-up to 2004's 'Lifeblood' album and insists the solo projects have not brought an end to the Manics. He told XFM: "I've just done a really crappy punky solo album. James has done a solo album and the Manics are writing as well, so lots of stuff going on." Wire also revealed he played guitar on his own album and plans to tour the record with some bizarre gigs. "I'm going to do some gigs and they'll be a mix of baroque comedy and useless guitaring," he added " Is anyone looking forward to future Manics material or are their best days behind them?
March 18, 200619 yr Well I enjoyed the last album so as much as they aren't as good as they used to be they still make good music and still have a reasonable fanbase ;) I've heard one of Nicky's songs and it's great despite his voice not being very good :D
March 20, 200619 yr They should have split when Richey went missing as they've done precious little of any value since.... Fat male bassists in their late-30s wearing skirts and badly applied make-up....... :puke2: :puke2: Sorry, I'd rather remember the days when they were young, hungry, and made some of the most compelling music of the 90s, not past-it, bloated and merely going through the motions....
March 20, 200619 yr I must admit I haven't heard either fella's solo stuff, but I'm not keen on Nicky Wire as part of the band, so I don't hold out much hope for him solo. James Dean Bradfield is playing at V, I'll probably check him out if there's nothing else on at the time.
