August 8, 201113 yr I'm so relieved that this is so good. When I heard that they were going down the electro route, I was quite scared that they'd get it wrong. Loving it after a few listens. It's got a kinda late 90s, early 00s sound to it!
August 9, 201113 yr It's gooood :) When they said electro, I thought they meant electro-dancey, not just electric guitars.
August 9, 201113 yr Just heard What You Want for the first time and I quite like it. Was a big Evanescence fan so I'm glad they are back :D
August 24, 201113 yr The new single is surprisingly shit :o They should have come back with something like "Fear and loathing" by Marina & the diamonds, not with that.
August 24, 201113 yr It's not as awful as Call Me When You're Sober. But nothing as good as their first few singles.
August 27, 201113 yr I've missed Evanescence  Saw them in 2004 I think  awesome band. Would love to see them later in the year but I can't afford tickets yet
August 28, 201113 yr It's not as awful as Call Me When You're Sober. But nothing as good as their first few singles. gurl u crazy! 'Call Me When You're Sober' was pretty good! 'Lithium' was by far the stand out track on 'The Open Door' however, beautiful song with a gorgeous video!
August 29, 201113 yr 'Sweet Sacrifice' was by far and away the best of the last era and my favourite song of theirs, I also loved 'Weight Of The World', 'Lithium', 'Snow White Queen' and 'All That I'm Living For', great album on the whole. The new single is a tad nondescript, not bad but leaves no real impression on me.
August 29, 201113 yr I actually quite like this which surprises me a little. When compared to their contemporaries (Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation, Tristania etc) I always felt Evanescence were a bit of a one trick pony but whilst this isn't a great departure for them it seems to hit the right notes for me.
September 9, 201113 yr http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/b5/Evanescence_Album.jpg Album cover looks a bit like a fan job tbh. Tracklisting: 1. "What You Want" 2. "Made of Stone" 3. "The Change" 4. "My Heart Is Broken" 5. "The Other Side" 6. "Erase This" 7. "Lost in Paradise" 8. "Sick" 9. "End of the Dream" 10. "Oceans" 11. "Never Go Back" 12. "Swimming Home"
September 26, 201113 yr This is definitely their heaviest album... Probably their best one too, I think Evanescence have now finally hit their groove. And, my, isn't Ms Lee looking pretty darn hot these days....? She was always pretty, but now seems to have that extra "rarrrrr" factor......
September 26, 201113 yr Horrible record compared to Open Door and Fallen. And this is coming from a huge fan :(
September 26, 201113 yr Horrible record compared to Open Door and Fallen. And this is coming from a huge fan :( Whuzzup, dude, is it a bit to Metal for yah.....? ;)
September 27, 201113 yr It's melodically bland, samey, repetitive and this has nothing to do with the album being a bit heavier than their previous records.
October 13, 201113 yr I think its their best album yet. Listening to the album straight through on the first listen, I thought some of the songs blended together. However, after a few listens and listening to the songs independently, the songs grew on me. I don't see how anyone can say the songs are samey after listening to the album more than once. The album has aggressive songs like "Made of Stone" and "Sick", traditional Evanescence rock ballads like "Lost in Paradise" and "My Heart is Broken" and calm songs like "Swimming Home" which has some great vocals from Amy Lee. If you've never liked Evanescence, you're probably not going to like this. If you're just a casual fan who only knows "Bring Me To Life" and "My Immortal", then you may not like it. As an Evanescence fan who thinks "Fallen" is overrated due to it's two massive hits and "The Open Door" is a much better album, I think "Evanescence" takes the best aspects of each album. It's more immediate and less polarising than "The Open Door", more lyrically and emotionally varied than "Fallen" and more of a hard rock album than both of their previous efforts. It's telling that the album is getting it's best reviews from rock sites and magazines, whilst pop reviewers like it less. Someone must have uploaded the songs onto Youtube by now. My recommendations are "Made of Stone", "The Change" and "Lost in Paradise".
