I'm absolutely gutted. I really thought Salem was in with a shout there...Melodifestivalen is far, far too weighted towards public voting.

Deservedly so though surely? It's the most popular song in the country after all...

Remember the 2005 disaster when Las Vegas got through courtesy of the deaf juries :drama:

It is representative, but they really need to get the right mix. The juries have been left basically irrelevant!

I'll agree... this is crap.

I'm not saying this is a bad song, it's great actually, but not for this year's Eurovision :(

You know the biggest tragedy? This is my fourth or fifth favourite from this final, and it's already a shoo-in for my favourites of this year's contest.

It's going straight to #2/3 in my overall rankings

could be worse 'you bring the sunshine, I'll bring the moonlight'

I'm weeping. This year's Eurovision is like a nightmare come true. I'm willing to bet it's going to be further compounded by, say, Norway winning over Ireland or something...and you know something's wrong when the best there is to offer is a generic ballad!

I feel your pain. Norway and Ireland are my favourites and they're both sending the same tired old You Raise Me Up clone :drama:

I can't call a winner, I think it will be Oslo 2011 by default again, or Ireland if Niamh is incredibly lucky with the draw, seeing as Didrik will have the added support of the crowd in the arena...

I'm hoping for a late draw for Denmark and Ireland, with something like 4th slot for Norway. An exciting battle between Denmark and Ireland would be the only redeeming factor for me this year...

Except Denmark are sending something that sounds like a Starship tribute which would have been perfect for the 2000 contest, but not so much 2010 :drama:

(as much as I like the song)

I don't know, I think it sounds fairly contemporary (given the competition) - like a modernised Tina Turner - Simply The Best in the chorus! ^_^
Anna will do well for Sweden in May! Top 10, I think. Salem could've flopped hard like Sweden did last year, so I guess this was the safest choice.
Ugh, I can't even stand thinking about it. I'm so gutted for Salem, and I haven't even started processing Kom's failure properly...
I'm kind of glad i decided not to go to Oslo this year :kink:

I know we'll never know but I honestly think that Salem would have eased into the top five, just because it would have stood head and shoulders above the generica. Sweden are too safe for their own good, so can't complain that they keep missing the top ten...

I don't reckon he'll care over much. He's had a mass career boost a la Caroline and I reckon his album will debut at #1 - it's pretty damn great, unlike Neo's blandfest (apart from the first 5 tracks - but excluding the dire Leo Sayer - You Make Me Feel Like Dancing cover :puke:)

They took a risk in 2009, though. And that didn't do too well for them, so I can understand why they chose Anna. Great song, safe, and guaranteed top 10. I would have preferred to have seen KOW or Kom at Eurovision, but This Is My Life is still my favourite from Melodifestivalen. ^_^

Blah. SOOOOO over Sweden now. It's all about Romania.

:snif:

Although Malena was opera (which Slovenia had already done in 2007), it still had the same old schlager dance beat underneath that they used in 2004, 2006 and 2008...Snalla Snalla would have been a far bigger risk.
