Something you used to prove ethnic tastes influencing Eurovision isn't political? :kink:

I may have referenced such things once or twice :kink: I had a whole 2,000 word section entirely about Melodifestivalen! Maybe I'll post it on here one day :heehee:

Spectacular :o What was the Melodifestivalen section about?

I was referencing the strong schlager roots and influence in MF, and that most schlager fans point towards MF as their best annual source of new music. It seems incredibly ironic this year though seeing as Pernilla was flying the flag alone :( But in 2008's final we had Charlotte and Linda both in the top 5, and this is what I was basing it on. I then went on to say that schlager and Europop doesn't do so well in ESC anymore, not because of political voting but because of the increased influence of the Eastern European countries (because of their increasing number and prominence - not voting patterns), and that these countries aren't accustomed to the genre, much like the UK aren't interested in Baltic dad rock!
Casablanca's cover of La Voix - versions with and without Malena - are now available on UK iTunes!
Not going to download it, I thought it was terrible :(

OMG. I must've missed the fact Malena was participating in the song :o :(

I liked the Casablanca version of La Voix but I'm not exactly in a hurry to download it

Much more votes than last year! A decent lead for Anna then! I don't understand why 360,000 people voted for the song and it's sold only about 15,000 copies so far :/ The cost of the vote and a download are barely any different...

Maybe the week after Melodifestivalen is like the X Factor effect to the power of ten on sales?

What were the points given in the last part as voted by Sweden?

I wonder how close the top 3 would have been if Eric had narrowly edged out Anna? :o

From now on can the UK send a song of our choice that finishes 2nd-5th in Melodifestivalen? thanks :D
I'd quite happily take any of Salem, Eric, Darin and Timoteij, considering they're all at least 9/10s for me now (Eric grew HUGELY. I'm trying to remain in denial and claim that it has nothing to do with my shallow side.)

 why does everyone on here claim to hate Manboy before hugely converting to it? I thought it was a solid pop song on first listen!

Salem please :D Timoteij would look like another Javine, i.e. not feel at all authentic - but we could get away with passing off Salem as our own.
