March 21, 201015 yr Aha, wow! I love that "Get Up!" managed to pre-qualify for next year. I'll never get this fascination with "In The End" though. It's alright, but they were better songs that could have been top 3.
March 21, 201015 yr Really not getting all this Linkin Park hate - In The End fully deserved to qualify, and the song is very good and better than most of that list
March 21, 201015 yr People don't like In The End doing well because it threatens the female pop dominance that BJ adores. I think it's marvellous myself. Not a terrible top 8, but I think Stronger is a bit out of place there. I'm more pleased about Zero 7 making the top 30 though, not bad for an act who aren't a traditional BJ favourite, with a song which only reached #30 in the actual chart.

You've got that to a tee I think - people aren't used to the idea of the minority of voters (which includes me) all voting for a song that defined its era rather than squabbling over different bands. I wonder how many of LP's votes came from people who also voted for the other two qualifiers?

Uh, nope nothing to do with female pop dominance being threatened, just because I'm really not a fan of the song, and I'm surprised that it's deemed the 3rd best song of 2001 by anyone standards not just BuzzJack's! I much prefer Crawling!

I agree with you, I think its great to see a change in taste, so BJ becomes more diverse Not that Im expecting it to win  Edited March 22, 201015 yr by chart wizard
March 22, 201015 yr Very happy Outkast habe qualified for the play-off. One of the BEST song of the noughties...
March 22, 201015 yr I would hardly say anyone is "scared" of it :/ It's just a really bad song imo, and my votes were hardly female-dominated. And I would agree that it defined an era, but the whole nu-metal phase was absolutely terrible anyway. I was in my pre-teens when it started, and had seriously terrible music taste, but I thought it was awful even then. I'm sure it brings back a lot of good memories to other people of a similar age to me, but for me... nah, nothing. More like bad memories if anything.

Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Puddle Of Mudd, Papa Roach, POD - hated the whole lot of them and they were HUGE when I was at school - you either liked R&B, or you liked nu-metal. I liked dance and pop and was the odd one out  Linkin Park were easily the least bad though and had a couple of decent tunes but Limp Bizkit and Puddle Of Mudd in particular were horrendous :puke: thank god that genre faded out!
March 22, 201015 yr Completely agreed, easily my least favourite genre of all time. So you'd rather listen to black metal (ambient or otherwise)?
March 22, 201015 yr So you'd rather listen to black metal (ambient or otherwise)? Yes! I even prefer black metal to nu-metal! Only my personal opinion of course but the whole vibe of the genre and its key artists turned me right off, Rollin' is probably one of my least favourite UK #1 singles of all time. Fred Durst was pretty much my least favourite singer in the early 00's.

Linkin Park basically rendered the rest of the genre irrelevant for me and Hybrid Theory basically crushed everything, then Meteora killed nu-metal off for good. I love LP and Minutes to Midnight was one of my favourite albums of the decade (even more so than Hybrid Theory) and I'm fascinated to see where they go next.
