Im not a huge Robbie Williams fan by any means but i wouldnt write him off yet, yes the single has flopped but the album has done quite well and the days of well established acts being guaranteed high chart positions is well gone, look at madonna;s last single revolver which was a huge flop but i wouldnt write madonna of on the back of that either. Neither artists are as popular as they used to be but considering the length of their careers they are doing ok.

 

I agree it is ridiculous for people to claim that he is 'over'. I'd say he has a good 10 - 15 years left in him to bore people stiff.

 

Seriously ... MS has actually climbed quite a bit already on iTunes and I'm sure after tonight it will go much higher. I think the reason it hasn't done well so far is not that people didn't know of its release ... but the song isn't terribly good.

Really hope Gaga gets number 1 this week but tbh, if Tinie pips Telephone to the post I won't be too worried as his sales will fall much more next weel and with no big releases on the cards for next week, Telephone will defo get it. i love both the top 2, though it would be funny if tinie made it 3 weeks at no1 to see the uproar on here lol.tbh without the video gaga would have struggled to make such an impact with this single.

 

as for the robbie discussion he's obviously not finished, most artist (apart from gaga,rihanna,beyonce,beps etc) fail to get more than 3 singles into the top 40 from an album these days - the album is nearing 900k in sales so i would say for an artist thats been around for 20 years in the busines with an average of an album each year its not a bad return!!the single has put 'reality killed the video star' back into the albums top 30 and that wa sthe point of the single release.he will be back in the top 10 singles in october when he releases a new single on the back of a brand new ghits!!

Please stop hating on GaGa, it won't affect you if she goes number one with Telephone, neither will it affect Tinie Tempah... His song has already hit number one and, though I despise it personally, I recognise that it is a smash. Discographies don't mention weeks at number one, only the fact that the song got there. Be happy with that.

The whole point of any music video is to promote the song. Through the use of the video, she made people aware of its existence. The song getting to number one is due to people buying it because they like it, not because they like the video...

Even if the video hadn't been so epic, I still think Gaga&Bey would've shot this high, because now people know about the song. The general public didn't actually know of the song, unless they had The Fame Monster, but casual buyers, and Gaga&Bey fans kept the song afloat for ages at the low 30s. But once the public heard the song (via the video and airplay) it shot right up. I don't think it's just the video that has made it go this high, I think the fact that people know of the song's existence now has helped it massively too... If that makes sense? :unsure:

Delphic aren't as big as Gaga&Bey (not Rihanna :kink:) so their music video naturally isn't going to be shown as much. It's essentially the music channel's decision as to how often to play the music video, rather than the artists. Their video is in high demand, so naturally the music channels are going to be playing it a lot. The video is there to help the song, and to promote it, there's nothing wrong with that ^_^

No because she has a second version moving upwards at #11. It's not surprising that the top one is dropping.
