March 27, 201015 yr Agreed that this is much superior and quite brilliant in its own right (though I don't know why you don't just stop watching X Factor TiP). My favourite didn't get through though! TEGAN. She was brilliant so I've voted and I'm hoping she gets through but I think it'll be the Robyn lookalike probably. As for the ones who did get through, very strong bunch (particularly the dark haired girl from Liverpool who auditioned with her cousin). The only one I'm not keen on is Sophie. Re: X-Factor. I subscribe to the old Mary Whitehouse and David Bowie viewpoint that you can't criticise something until you've seen/heard it. But you know what I'm seriously considering boycotting the show this year .... especially if Dannii Minogue is dumped from the judging panel. (Well at least it will answer her "Is this a singing contest?" question from the last series). I agree that Tegan is really good .. but for a West End Show like Rent or We Will Rock You ... but I'm not convinced she is a Dorothy. I hope the gap-toothed Emilie gets through. As for the Robyn look-a-like - I hope not as I thought she was the nearest to a dud out of the 20 singers. Still she was probably a better singer then any of our Eurovision hopefuls this year.

March 27, 201015 yr I didn't much like gap-toothed Emilie! She was the only one to mess up and she doesn't look like she'd cope with a big stage production at all. I was very amused to see Sheridan Smith on there and I had no idea at all she was in Legally Blonde: The Musical. I'm quite tempted to see that.
March 27, 201015 yr I was very amused to see Sheridan Smith on there and I had no idea at all she was in Legally Blonde: The Musical. I'm quite tempted to see that. I was persuaded a few weeks ago by some friends to see LB:TM (not that it took much to persuade me to see what was likely to be the gayest, most fabulous musical ever), and was really pleasantly surprised by it all - it really works as a musical, it's fast paced and Sheridan was a total joy to watch - and she was lovely at the stage door after! As for the show - I managed to catch bits of it, but have it on Sky+ to watch properly - but all of the above are right, even the crap ones are head and shoulders above the drivel from X Factor!
March 28, 201015 yr Ugh. Really don't fancy Legally Blonde, and last night's performance didn't cause me to warm to it much. But in general this was a great show, peed all over Your Country Needs You, that's for sure. I really want Claire Hillier or Camille through next week, though I'm not sure either of them will last long, and I think it will probably be Jessica if that's her name? The one with the split ends :kink:
March 29, 201015 yr last night's performance didn't cause me to warm to it much. Ugh, I couldn't believe they chose that song for them. It's packed full of some great songs, but the title song is by miles (one of) the worst. But I guess there's some nice vocals in it, so maybe that's why they chose it. Still, it didn't make any of the girls look good. And what were they wearing :o
March 29, 201015 yr I can't believe the lack of comments on this. Without doubt 18 of the 20 singers were better than any female singer from the last series of X-Factor. Whilst at least 5 of them were (Lea Michele standard) fantastic. This could easily surpass I'd Do Anything as the greatest pool of talent in a TV talent contest. They made a mockery of the talent that got through to the Final 12 in X-Factor last year. But then again it helps that the judges here are real experts in the field of music and theatre. Whilst in that 90 minute programme alone Charlotte Church (who is a revelation as a judge) made more constructive comments than Cheryl Cole has managed in two entire series of the (e)X(crement) Factor! Well done to the BBC. Proof that a talent contest can be done properly when it is not turned into a money making ego driven media whoring vehicle resulting in cruel exploitation of the contestants. Couldn't have put it better myself particularly the last paragraph.
March 29, 201015 yr I haven't watched this yet ... will have to I suppose. I really liked Jodie Prenger from IDA ... went to watch Oliver last year and she was brilliant. However ... I'm not sure I approve of the 'unofficial' advertising this does for Andrew Lloyd Webber's West End shows ... he benefits from this in much the same way Cowell does from X-Factor. April 3, 201015 yr NOT impressed that Emilie got through. Bronte and Dani are great and did decently tonight although the best performance has surely been Jessica doing Rehab (despite the fact that she isn't Dorothy).
April 3, 201015 yr Lauren, Sophie and Jenny were my favourites tonight, hope one of the 2 blonde bimbos go tomorrow, that model was awful. And I'm beginning to hate Charlotte Church with passion, they could have had a better judge.
April 3, 201015 yr Two blonde bimbos? Only Amy could be considered a bimbo surely? And I quite like her, although I don't think I could advocate a win. I voted for Lauren in the end. I just hope being the second to perform doesn't harm her chances. And Charlotte Church knows what she's talking about. The worst judge is surely 'Johnny' Partridge but even he isn't so bad, just a little irrelevant.

Amy that's it, the other girl was Brooke which I don't think she get far. The youngest girl of the comp, I don't think she will get far either, she be safe for a couple of weeks for the time been
April 4, 201015 yr I think most are great, but My faves from last night though would be = Lauren Jessica Sophie Stephanie Amy
April 4, 201015 yr FFS, why does everyone murder Breakaway??? 1st Katie Stevens on American Idol now this Emile girl... Breakaway is my fave single of the noughties! i didn't watch the show, but I watched a few of the performances on utube Edited April 4, 201015 yr by Gagafan Goulding
April 4, 201015 yr I am very disappointed that The Lord ousted Amy when she was much, much better than boring old Steph in the sing-off.
April 4, 201015 yr That Emilie creature is ghastly, total stage school fakery with a weak voice. It's a shame she stayed (or even got through), when someone like Amy (who I think is actually a strong vocalist) had to go. Really enjoyed her SOTR, actually, more than I expected, and she was much better than Steph in the sing off.
