Commentary ; Donkeyboy holds on to the top spot for a 3rd straight week whilst fellow Scandanavians Rumour Said Fire move up to number 2. Highest new entry comes courtesy of Dutch Jazz singer Caro Emerald whilst also entering directly into the top 10 is Atlanta Hip Hop singer Bobby Ray also known as B.o.B. Two Jewish new entries this week ... at 15 American Idol runner up Adam Lambert who has performed in Hebrew and one place lower is the just announced Israeli Eurovision entry sung in Hebrew by Harel Skaat who finished as runner up in Kokhov Nolad, the Israeli version of American Idol ! Also bizarrely I have two Serbian entries, Marko Milisevic better known as Gramaphonedzie, at 11 and the Serbian Eurovision entry by Milan Stankovic at 18.

Hi Moth09,

I find your chart really interesting purely because of the European chart influence. :D Here's my thoughts on some of your chart tracks:

01 01 01 06 Ambitions (Donkeyboy)

I've heard this a couple of times but it still hasn't clicked with me. First time I heard this, I thought of Scissor Sisters for some reason. Obviously they're doing something right - it's popular here with several Buzzjackers and even in their native Norway it's become one of their biggest selling singles of all time - even this week the track is back up to #8.

02 03 02 07 The Balcony (Rumour Said Fire)

Now this I do like. Peaked at no. 9 in my chart a few weeks ago. Mikey summed it up perfectly when he said they sound like Simon & Garfunkel. Great to see this track doing well in your chart.

06 04 01 07 Alors on Danse (Stromae)

Entered my Pre-Release chart last week so expect to see this in my personal chart in the coming weeks. It's a great dance track - a very unusual one but that I've started to like more in the last fortnight.

08 --- 08 01 A Night like this (Caro Emerald)

Aah yes, Bacardi. :P 'A Night Like This' entered my chart last week at no. 14 and could well climb in my new chart (I'll write it up tomorrow). A plesant disco track with a great chorus and summer vibe to the video - makes me wish I was there.

15 --- 15 01 Whatya Want from me (Adam Lambert)

Adam Lambert is slowing emerging as the real winner of American Idol from the series where he came second (?). I do prefer this song more than 'For Your Entertainment' and this track is doing very well in a few countries at the moment.

20 16 16 02 The Storm (Milk Inc)

When this shot to no. 1 in Flanders a fortnight ago I was really surprised. I remember Milk Inc. from the days of 'In My Eyes' when big European dance acts scored top 10 hits. I believe 'In My Eyes' got to #9 at the time in the UK. 'Storm' isn't bad but I personally think they've released better singles over the years that never hit the no. 1 spot - again, probably why I was surprised this track was so popular.

Hi Hitstatic

Thanks for your comments. Sorry I didn't see them before. Was just about to do new chart...day early...as will be too busy next couple of days.

Yes i do seem to have a lot of European songs in the chart - nothing deliberate but just struggle of late to find much stuff in the UK charts to enthuse about

to be honest as I'm not generally a fan of hip hop/rap/grime much of which makes me cringe.

Give "Ambitions" another couple of listens maybe. It didn't click with me at first, hence its only recent appearance in my chart for a song that's at least 6 months old.

Rumour Said Fire is certainly a deadringer for Simon and Garfunkel but its a great song and S and G haven't made music for yonks so its kind of refreshing in a retro way.

"Alors on Danse" has a great feel and I like the slightly depressing lyrics or at least the approx 50% I understand !

I've read that "A night like this" has been used in an ad but in the UK or just in Holland ? Will be this weeks no 1 on my chart as is such a feel good track and Caro has a great voice.

I will have to give "For your Entertainment" more of a chance but in the meantime "Whatya want from me" will fly high in my chart - surely at least this being American will be a UK hit !

I have enjoyed many Milk Inc tracks over the years, "Walk on Water" being my fav followed by "Livin a Lie" "In my Eyes" to "Blackout" from last year - they also did covers of The Sun always shines on TV and Tainted Love. Im also a bit surprised at the success of "Storm".

I've also found a lot of Romanian dance tracks .... Morandi, David Deejay, Edward Maya, Inna.... to enthuse about even though the lyrics are nearly always rubbish even on occassions not making sense -none on my chart last week although perhaps Deep Central will enter. Inna has of course just entered the UK top 10.
