The likes of Katie has inspired me to create this topic.

This goes out to all new Madonna fans and is an essential guide for all newcomers to the best in Madonna's music. I've been a fan since 1991 when i was just eight years old so trust moi, me knows what i'm chattin' about o-k!!

" I have the Confessions.. album; i want more but where do i start ?! "

The best and most worthy Madonna CD's to get would be..

The Immaculate Collection http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000002LND.01._SCTZZZZZZZ_.jpg

Released Christmas 1990; this was Madonna's first greatest hits package and has sold over 23 million copies worldwide to date! The album covers Madonna's material from 1983's 'Holiday' to 1991's 'Rescue Me' and features all her signature hits such as Lucky Star, Like a Virgin, Into the Groove, Papa don't Preach, Like a Prayer and Vogue. This does however leave out many of her earlier hits, due to lack of space i assume!

This album is a 'must-have' and would cost you no more than £6.99 at HMV or £5.99 at Morrisons! Bargain!

GHV2 http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00005Q66T.02-ATVPDKIKX0DER._SCTZZZZZZZ_.jpg

Released in time for the Christmas market in 2001; this was Madonna's second greatest hits package and once again snubbed some more of her most worthy numbers! However, included some of her best work from where the Immaculate Collection left off. The CD kicks off with the fantastic, up-beat dance number from 1992 'Deeper & Deeeper' and then follows on with some other big memorable hits from her 90's phase such as the controversial 'Erotica', the soulful 'Secret', the tongue n' cheek 'Human Nature', the Evita epic 'Don't cry for me Argentina' the lush 'Power of Goodbye' the groovy/sexy 'Beautiful Stranger', the kickass 'Music', the funky 'Don't tell Me', the atmospheric 'Bedtime Story' and 'Frozen' as well as the beautiful 'Take a Bow' and the energetic classic 'Ray of Light'. Covers most of her hits from 1992 to 2001.

Yet another 'must-have' new Madonna-holics! A bargain at HMV for £6.99 or £5.99 at Morrisons. :yahoo:

Those two in my humble opinion are 'the' essential Madonna albums to start off with. Giving you an indication of who and what Madonna is about as well as a basic introuction to the sound of the all important legendary Queen of Pop! ;)

If you like what you hear and you 'so' should :P and you'd like to get in the groove with some more Madonna...then purchase the follwoing three Madonna studio album's...

Like A Prayer - 1989 http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000002LGQ.02-ATVPDKIKX0DER._SCTZZZZZZZ_.jpg

A fantastic album, Stunning. Featuring incredibly emotive vocals and intensely personal lyrics, it proved she was more than a disco dolly, a serious songwriter. Features the sprightly but heartbreaking 'Til Death Do Us Part', the fabulous and melodic 'Cherish' as well as the girl power anthem 'Express Yourself' amongst many more. Recently named the #14 album of all time in the Q magazines top 100 albums ever! :D

£6.99 at HMV and £5.99 at Morrisons

Ray of Light - 1998 http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000002NJS.02._SCTZZZZZZZ_.jpg

Along with 'Like A Prayer', this has to be her best work to date. Electronic effects complement the strong melodies and highly personal lyrics. Feautures the haunting #1 hit 'Frozen' the grammy-winning single 'Ray of Light', the beautiful ballad 'The Power of Goodbye' and the 'Keep it Together' part 2 'Nothing really Matters'. This album has sold more than 14 million copies worldwide and gave Madonna 3 grammy awards in 1999! :cheer: £6.99 at HMV and £5.99 at Morrisons.

and finally......

Music - 2000 http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00004WMXZ.02-ATVPDKIKX0DER._SCTZZZZZZZ_.jpg

A selection of mostly great material, surprising and adventurous as ever and an excellent follow up to the fab Ray of Light album!. Three excellent singles, the hypnotic 'Impressive Instant' and 'Gone' are the highpoints as well as the unique 'Paradise/Not for Me' which is performed stunningly on her current Confessions tour '06. This has got to be my all-time fave Madonna album, you just have to try it, go on! It also gave Madonna her first ever Brit award for Best International Female Artist in 2001! :yahoo:

£6.99 at HMV and £5.99 at Morrisons

....so there you have it..the essential guide to Madonna's music for beginners..i hope you find it useful!
