I can see what you mean about madonna (it was also done on purpose to fire all this conversation Madonna-Gaga) but this is unique. It is a REALLY well thought video and has some intense messages (passifism, gender roles, church power... also sadism, masochism,violence) and all in the most modern (although not deep) way! +It is a superproduction! I don't like the song but I have to admit the video is one of the best in the video clip history(some parts of it are better than others as always). She has already sold a lot of albums but it is not a highly competitive era so another top3, I will vote for no1 Alexandro :no1:

So agree with that in bold. My friend is huge fan of GaGa and sometimes he becomes one of the worst stans I've ever seen. When Katy Perry said on Twitter: "Using blasphemy as entertainment is as cheap as a comedian telling a fart joke." - he was SO mad at her. :lol: It was really funny for me because basically he is a smart guy but when the things are starting to go about GaGa... The brains are being turned off. GaGa is very overrated by some people.

No, what you did was go after the poster's favourite artist, purely because you were angry with something he said. Kylie Minogue would not have been brought up, had that statement not been made by a Kylie fan. You were being sarcastic, and derogatory, just to rile up the fan. You are freely allowed to post your opinions, but making digs at someone's favourite artist, just because they said something against your favourite artist is something that isn't allowed on this forum, and it's rather pathetic. It was immature and completely unnecessary, there was no need to bring Kylie up, and you would not have brought her up, had she not been in the poster's signature.

 

If you disagreed with his points, disagree with them, don't resort to bashing his favourite artist, just because he doesn't like a video made by yours.

2. Gaga is a better singer

3. Gaga is a lot more creative & unique then madonna.

4. Gaga has better songs then madonna.

5. Gaga has better videos then madonna.

 

List goes on. The media may present madonna as a legend and the best thing ever in music but seriously, make up your own mind, she CLEARLY isnt.

The bolded ones are purely your opinions, and as much I thoroughly dislike Madonna, she has shaped pop music, and she is a musical icon. It is quite obvious that GaGa is heavily influenced by her (hasn't she said so herself), and whilst I may have been hasty in saying that she has done nothing but copy her, I stand by the fact that she does a hell of a lot of copying from other artists, Madonna being the biggest.

And to be really honest, all these people that have apparently "copied" GaGa are just people that the GaGa fans are shouting "COPYCAT!" at, purely because they're doing something different. No artists can do anything different, or unusual, or make electro-pop music, anymore, without being labelled as "copying GaGa". It's extremely annoying. And I'm sorry no, I'm stopping you right there. Lady GaGa has been around for two years, and has put out some good pop songs, that have sold very well. She is not a musical icon, nor has she shaped pop music in any way. What she's done is do things that artists like Grace Jones and Roisin Murphy did years ago, and is doing them now, which the younger generation is thinking is brand new.

 

She's not doing anything incredible, or changing pop music in anyway. She's a very good pop artist, that is doing something "different" (for nowadays) and all her fans are doing is hyping her more and more. At some point she's going to hit a wall, and it's all going to come crashing down on her.

I'm not saying they aren't opinions, i said they seem obvious.

Gaga has been around for 2 years yes, and i as i said people may not think it yet but she is/will be a musical icon. She has changed pop music which your post shows, as people are now attempting to be different and 'out there' to be noticed like gaga has been.

You say people arent copying gaga, so the same argument goes for gaga not copying madonna, it can be said its 'very annoying' people saying gaga is copying madonna when shes just being different, creative and unique.

'The younger generation' (which you are part of) doesnt think she's BRAND new, they arent thick, they are aware of previous artists, but gaga is unique in today's music world: fact.

Give gaga twenty years, i'll put a lot of money on it, that she will have changed music forever and be considered a musical icon.

GaGa isn't unique even at the moment, she's just the most popular, again, look at Roisin Murphy, she's been doing it for years now in terms of the style, why isn't she unique then?

 

We should wait and see what is going to happen with her but for NOW it's stupid to compare her and Madonna's profile. In 20 years - yes, we'll wait, we'll see. But now the contributions of the ladies aren't even comparable.

Without Madonna - there simply wouldn't even BE a Lady GaGa.

 

Your first point - whilst GaGa has an ear for a catchy tune - I suggest closer inspection of her lyrics - at least 60% of them sound like she's either making them up as she goes along - or that she roped her 11 year old niece in to help with the writing - facile, shallow and childish are words that come to mind....

 

GaGa better singer? Well, in all honesty, NEITHER is a great singer... but I agree, on technicality, GaGa IS a better better singer.

 

Your third point is laughable - more UNIQUE than Madonna? Are you SERIOUS?!?!? What GaGa hasn't stolen from Madonna she's stolen from Grace Jones and Christina Aguilera. To even suggest anything remotely 'unique' about the lady is just ridiculous. Then again, perhaps if you're under 15 or 16, GaGa IS unique...?

 

Better songs? Again, the lady has released ONE proper album, a botch-job of singles and b-sides and tracks recorded all over the place and one remix album. Hardly a body of work worthy of such a comment. When GaGa releases something as truly career defining as, say, Ray of Light... then maybe she can be considered. As she hasn't even come close, I can only assumeyou're taking the p*** with that comment. Or blind drunk.

 

As for videos... again, for a teenager, perhaps the way Madonna completely revolutionised the art of the video passed you by. However, despite massive budgets and some fabulous direction, GaGa hasn't even come within a country mile of making lasting, classic videos. I suggest a YouTube visit. Look for 'Bedtime Stories', 'Justify My Love', 'Express Yourself', 'Cherish', 'Hollywood', 'Erotica', 'Give it 2 Me', 'Like a Prayer'...and on..... your comments are just embarassing.... you need to watch these videos and check the year they were made.... because after seeing every single one of GaGa's videos - it's patently obvious she's been watching Madonna's complete video back catalogue - and taking detailed notes.

 

I saw the GaGa tour earlier this year - and again, she not so much referenced Madonna but downright robbed her ideas.... from the stage set to the video interludes..... she's a 'tonight Matthew, I'm going to be...' pastiche..... I like her... but to try to claim, without any irony, that GagGa is more unique, talented and visually amazing than Madonna is... well.... it's a joke. A complete, utter, embarassing joke.
