I've joined up to VESC, want to test out one of the songs I was going to send to BJSC once which I LOVE but think would go down like a lead balloon here. Maybe if it comes top 3 there I'll send it to XXVII here! I've never taken part in an alternative contest before, be interesting to see how well or badly I do there in comparison. I've always been tempted to join NSC on the ESC today forum, but judging by the songs that do well and badly there, I would flop every month  most of the winners/runners up are not my cup of tea at all...the sorts of songs that would DNQ here.

If you fancy joining any other online song contests, there are two more that I enjoy taking part in, just ask me and I'll PM you the links :)

Two's enough for me I think :heehee: what are the two you take part in though, out of interest?

One is where you play as any country in the world - I take part as Australia. Delta Goodrem was my first entry :kink: My last entry was "On A Mission" which came 5th :) My best result in that contest is 2nd, with The Veronicas - "4Ever". BJSC winner "Silly Boy" won for the Netherlands in this contest.

The other one is like Eurovision, but with the American continent instead of Europe. I take part as the USA and have one once, with Paramore. "Fireflies" came 3rd, as did "Battlefield". But Miley Cyrus & Madonna both came near the bottom

What, so you have to pick songs from different states? :o I wouldn't know where to start!

No - though I do think that's a good idea for a contest. They should do that in real life - ESCToday claimed they were doing, as part of their April Fools Day joke last year.

I meant that it's countries in North, South & Central America - so I play as the USA. There's only about 17 regular participants at the moment, but I get good results regular. Won it once, come second twice, and come third three times.

Well yeah, great for whoever gets California, but imagine getting Arkansas or something? I wouldn't have a clue what to send!

That result sounds awesome.

Could I get that link, too? :kink:

Not to join (I'm already participating in 2 monthly and one 3-monthly contests ), just to see results since that sounds exactly like I would have voted. :D

I thought it was countries? So it's like Canada, USA, Mexico, Puerto Rico (maybe?)

Yep, Canada managed to win twice in a row (and I came top 3 in both of them editions), and the manager of the contest plays for Puerto Rico

I would have lots to send for USA and Canada but would have no idea what to send for most South American countries.

I meant hypothetically if a 50 state US song contest went ahead! it would be the same states winning over and over again I bet!

Right I will dive in :D

Country Name: Tréstamford-Gallagher

Capital City: Boulevardville

I'd expect Slipknot to figure pretty much every year for Iowa... and probably The Killers for Nevada. Imagine some of the crap in the Deep South!

Welcome BLVD, 5 new countries this month so far, shaping up to be a mammoth listen in our 'one big final' assuming that all of last months participants come back (and Fervorosia return)
Welcome BLVD, though the Gallagher in your name doesn't bode well for future entries

I'll try and tone it down a bit, at least it was in reference to Noel rather than the gobby one  Up here it's kind of the law anyway, you're not a true Manc unless you have at least 10 Oasis songs on your iPod :P

Oasis are hit and miss for me. I have the whole of the Stop The Clocks album on my iPod but I only like about half of it, it's just I have a 180gb iPod, no point deleting anything until necessary!

Oasis are possibly my least favourite band of all time tbh  But I love Morrissey  As long as you don't actually send Oasis, it's fine :kink:
