Posted April 8, 201015 yr Thursday, 8 April 2010 19:25 UK BBC News Former Sex Pistols manager Malcom McLaren dies at 64 Malcolm McLaren, the former manager of punk group the Sex Pistols, has died in New York, aged 64, his agent has said. McLaren, the ex-partner of designer Vivienne Westwood, was believed to have been diagnosed with cancer a while ago. He set up a clothes shop and label with Westwood on London's King's Road in the 1970s and was later a businessman and performer in his own right. The couple had a son, Joseph Corre, the co-founder of lingerie shop Agent Provocateur. Any thoughts on this colourful character in music on his death?

April 8, 201015 yr Sad that he's dead, but I just thought he was a bit of hot air. Did he push punk to the front of the queue, or would it have happened antway? Dunno.
April 9, 201015 yr he alienated punks by declareing he invented punk.... he did not, did he push it to the front of the queue? possibly, he certainly gave the sex pistols the nudge they needed but didnt create punk. i quite liked him, he was all for new sounds and chamiponed early hip hop. like him or not, he WAS part of our pop music heritage and DID help push things forweard. sad news. rip.
