April 17, 201015 yr Author Yeah, I like the chart, mainly because it's almost constant music from 4pm to 7pm. On Radio 1's chart show, they sometimes already in the top 10 by 6pm (I know this because I listen to both charts at the same time), which leaves them with 30 minutes left to talk, and 30 minutes of music, which I don't like the idea of, to be honest. The Big Top 40 would probably be better if they did the "lock-down" at 4:30, after playing the mid-weeks. Then they could just play the live iTunes top 40 as of 4:30, and just miss all the airplay out. Also, the fact that they factor in airplay gives such weird chart runs (e.g. 5-6-9-38-37-39 or 1-4-6-9-X-X-X-12-15-etc.), which is quite annoying. I think they should change it while they have the chance. The only problem I see with this is they'll have more songs charting twice, and they'll have quite a lot of album songs charting in the #30-#40 range. yeh thats a good idea but then there be songs repeated but then they could remove the repeated songs but then i suppose it wouldnt be the live top 40

There is simply no way, that they would not include airplay. I asked it before. Half of records not on Independant Radio`s Playlists never get played on the big top 40, in any case. As their playlists are so damn limited, there is no chance. Every Independant Radio Chart, has always featured airplay. It`s just that in the days of the Network Chart (for instance) the stations had a more varied playlist. Songs wouldn`t chart twice, like you say...because they`d just be missed out, with the ones below moving up places to avoid it. You`d never get the same song played twice in the Lockdown Top Ten, coz that`s the way it`s done. Unfortunately their playlists are crap. If you want wall to wall music, join http://www.thesuperstation.info at 4pm on Sundays, you will then hear the complete top 40 & that`s a little bit ahead of the game anyway.
