170 X X X X Sam Sparro - Black & Gold 4.424

169 195 X 114 130 Gorillaz - Dare 4.438

168 85 184 X X Coldplay - Trouble 4.444

(Effectively), one hit wonder Sam Sparro makes a very respectable #170; the Gorillaz featuring vocals by Shaun Ryder spends its 4th out of 5 years on this Top 200; and Coldplay suffer another heavy drop from last year.

166 73 27 X X Nelly Furtado - All Good Things 4.447

165 X X 161 133 Will Young - Your Game 4.455

Country star LeAnn Rimes falls out of the Top 100 for the first time; Nelly Furtado suffers from a rapid decline in popularity compared to the previous two years; and Will Young re enters the Top 200 with this track after a two year absence.

163 X X X X Chemical Brothers - Galvanize 4.469

Predictably Kings of Leon suffer from a slight decline; whilst UK acts The Chemical Brothers and Jamelia enter the Top 200 for the first time with these respective tracks.

161 X X X X Beverley Knight - Come As You Are 4.485

160 X X X X MGMT - Time To Pretend 4.485

159 X X X X Alphabeat - Fascination 4.515

Three new entries. Both UK soul diva Beverley Knight and alternative dance/rockers MGMT each have one other song to follow; but Alphabeat make their sole entry on the chart with their spirited 1980s styled pop song that is a bit of a rip off of Kenny Loggins - Footloose IMHO

Surprised to see "Come As You Are" make it for the first time! :o Brilliant summer anthem.

158 149 76 170 72 Britney Spears - Oops!...I Did It Again 4.519

157 X X X X AR Rahman & The Pussycat Dolls – Jai Ho! 4.528

156 128 140 X X Fergie – Big Girls Don’t Cry 4.538

Britney appears with one of her nine entries in the Top 200, this track making its fifth consecutive appearance; the excellent AR Rahman collaboration with Nicole Schwerzinger - do the others sing on this track at all? the Pussycat Dolls debuts inside the Top 200 with this Slumdog Millionaire track; and Fergie cries slightly as her solo ballad track drops 28 places.

155 64 73 82 X Britney Spears - Born To Make You Happy 4.593

154 X 96 X X Destiny's Child - Say My Name 4.593

153 X 65 X X Melanie C - I Turn To You 4.593

Britney's 2nd UK#1 hit single drops 91 places; Destiny's Child return to the countdown with this track after a year's absence; and (now West End star, as well as former Spice Girl) Melanie C's second solo UK#1 hit re-enters this Top 200 also after a year's absence.

152 X 41 42 51 Melanie C ft Lisa Lopes - Never Be The Same Again 4.593

151 X X 196 167 Charlotte Church - Crazy Chick 4.594

150 X 63 116 X Justin Timberlake ft Timbaland - SexyBack 4.605

The former Sporty Spice makes her second of two appearances on the countdown with her first UK#1 hit single featuring the late great TLC rapper; "the Welsh warbler" re-enters after a two year absence, maybe her judging on BBC's I'd Do Anything (which suggests from her very impressive critiquing of vocal techniques, etc showing she is well and truly over qualified to be a judge on X-Factor ) have helped raise her profile; and the former 'N'Sync member returns to the countdown with this Prince sounding track.

149 X X X X Daft Punk - Harder Better Faster Stronger 4.630

148 57 93 113 138 Destiny’s Child - Lose My Breath 4.667

147 X 52 X 120 Girls Aloud - Love Machine 4.667

French dance outfit Daft Punk debut on the Top 200 with the track sampled to great affect by Kanye West; Destiny's Child make it five years on the bounce for this track; and Girls Aloud continue the pattern of in-out-in-out-in with the Xenomania penned jaunty Love Machine.

Not me, it's easily my favourite All Saints single, by a mile. I voted based on the song

145 X X X X Brandy - What About Us? 4.676

144 185 X 83 157 Black Eyed Peas – Shut Up 4.703

JT spends his fifth year in this countdown with this track from his debut album Justified; Brandy debuts in the chart for the first time with this track, produced by Darkchild; and Black Eyed Peas continue to bounce back up the countdown with this track from their break through second album (and the first to feature Fergie).

OK, here are the last three tracks I'm planning on posting tonight:

143 100 101 X X Evanescence - My Immortal 4.730

142 X 164 X X Pink - U & Ur Hand 4.737

141 192 X X X Avril Lavigne - My Happy Ending 4.758

Amy Lee's classic gothic power ballad falls 43 places from its peak reached last year; Pink re enters the Top 200 with this I'm Not Dead track; and Canada's Avril Lavigne has her final appearance on this chart countdown with a 51 place climber.

Ooh! "What About Us?" finished higher than "Afrodisiac"! Surprised, but pleased. It's one of my favourite songs and that's her top two songs, in the correct order, for me.

Some oh so fantastic songs so far. Never expected Come As You Are to make top 200 – so delighted it did, my favourite of 2004. Great to see the 2 Jamelia singles aswell, even if I am slightly surprised to see Something About You higher than Beware Of The Dog. Great to see 2 Brandy songs aswell as Destinys Child, Melanie C, LeAnn Rimes, Charlotte Church, MGMT, Corinne and All Saints.

Shame that Better In Time, So What, Loving Kind, Battlefield and Mercy were a little bit lower than perhaps expected though.

140 X X X X Kelly Osbourne – One Word 4.781

139 80 190 115 50 Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood 4.815

138 191 X X X Muse - Plug in Baby 4.815

Making her first ever appearance on this Top 200 is the youngest daughter of Ozzy & Sharon (PS. Am I the only one who thinks the "unseen" Osbourne (Aimee) is a dead ringer for Glee Cast member/Broadway star Lea Michele); Damon Albarn's animated outfit spend their 5th year on the Top 200; & Muse climb 53 places.

137 X 143 121 200 Natalie Imbruglia - Shiver 4.844

136 X X 152 105 iio - Rapture 4.852

135 X X X X Estelle ft Kanye West - American Boy 4.879

Australian singer/songwriter Natalie returns to the Top 200 after missing out last year; likewise the excellent dance record from iio returns after a two year break; but it is hello for the first time to the UK chart topping single by UK Urban female act Estelle along with a US artist producer & writer whose talent matches the size of his ego Kanye West.

All the Destiny's Child songs are far too low  And Love Machine

133 X X X X Empire Of The Sun - We Are The People 4.889

132 X X 99 144 Pussycat Dolls Ft Busta Rhymes - Don't Cha 4.906

Beyonce makes one of her four solo (& additional four more Destiny's Child appearances) in this countdown with this track with "one of the best videos of all time"; the Australian duo made up of the lead singer from Sleepy Jackson & a key member of PNAU also reach the Top 200; and the PCDs breakthrough #1 hit re enters the Top 200 after a two year break.
