April 29, 201015 yr ^ I will be sure to watch this of course. With that figure, drinks are on her if I ever see her staggering around London!
April 29, 201015 yr I still don't understand why TV shows even need to pay these artist to do specials. She is benefitting too from the exposure and will help album sales.
April 30, 201015 yr This will be good to see, as long as ITV and STV don't fall out and STV decide not to show it and give us Taggart
May 1, 201015 yr I agree i dont ever understand why artists get paid to do these shows as the promo they get pays off in itself, i suppose though if it was ourselves we would also take the money!!!
May 2, 201015 yr Because ITV will make more money out of it then what Kylie will. They give her £500K to do the show (I don't know if this will contribute the cost of making the show) but then advertisers will advertise their products and they pay ITV to show their adverts. They'll want to do that because they know they'll get millions of people watching the show - who could potentially buy their products. It's why Simon Cowell can wager such a big money demand for BGT and X Factor. All in all, ITV are helping Kylie, but Kylie is also helping ITV. Also, the more potential millions a show gets, the more money advertisers are likely to give ITV - it's why ratings are so important. i am willing to bet theough that the £500K given is also to help produce it. It'll probably pay for the studio space, dancers, lights, props, costume, the director, cameramen, ushers to show audience to their seats/take tickets, the cost of producing these tickets, etc. the list goes on. Although I don't know, I'm pretty sure that £500,000 is not all for Kylie, otherwise who else is gonna pay for the set-up? Edited May 2, 201015 yr by Knightr634
May 2, 201015 yr I get that and see how it all works, but i wonder how much one add is to advetise between shows like x factor or kylie's etc?
May 2, 201015 yr I get that and see how it all works, but i wonder how much one add is to advetise between shows like x factor or kylie's etc? I remember the final of X Factor in 2008 i think i saw an article saying that ITV were demanding £200,000 per advert. (I think it was this much anyway) Potentially ITV could have made a million in just 3 minutes. It's why its only the more well known brands would do this - and alot of Music advertisments - as its also gonna get their target audience, who will rush out to the shops to buy the cd - especially for christmas. And in that scenerio it would be the record company that pays ITV for that advert slot, and that money comes out of the record contract. So when you hear "Robbie Williams signs £80 million 5 year album deal" or whatever it was - its not Robbie being given £80 million, its how much the record company are willing to invest. Anyway.... Now, the Kylie show won't be that much but i guess it could get close to £100K - though i have no idea so don't quote me on it Edited May 2, 201015 yr by Knightr634
May 2, 201015 yr that is colossal amount to pay for an advert, it would really need to bring in revenue for the company to pay off.
May 2, 201015 yr I don't know if it was the exact figure, but advertisers would be willing to pay for it if it means getting their product out there and for the public to buy it. Plus X-mas + X Factor = massive sales boost
May 2, 201015 yr Couldn't find the X-Factor one but found this for Britain's Got Talent this year: ITV has decided to cash in on the success of Britain's Got Talent by offering huge sums for spaces during its commercial breaks, a report claims. This is Money understands that the broadcaster is charging £250,000 for 30-second advertising slots during the reality show. Britain's Got Talent is one of ITV1's highest-rated programmes and fetched a peak audience of 19.2 million viewers for its finale last year. However, Nick Ilston of Pace Media has said that most agencies would only pay £120,000 for the rounds leading up to the final.http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/broadcasting/s...during-bgt.html And if you think that's mad look at America: ABC is reportedly selling 30-second ads for the May 23 three-hour series finale of Lost for $900,000 (£601,029) apiece. According to Advertising Age, the figure is nearly four times the average cost of $213,563 (£142,619) that advertisers spent for similar spots on the show last year. While Lost has seen a steady decline in viewers over recent seasons, the publication observed that the premium prices set by ABC reflect advertisers' growing interest in so-called event programming to core fanbases. Kris Magel, director for national broadcast at media agency Initiative, indicated that ratings are not necessarily the principal concern in determining ad sales. "There are many advertisers willing to pay a reasonable premium for inventory in programmes that generate such a highly passionate and rabid fanbase," he said, adding: "There is definitely value in that." http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/cult/s10/lost/...or-usd900k.html Edited May 2, 201015 yr by Knightr634
May 2, 201015 yr That in my opinion is crazy to pay, you would have to sell alot of products to re coup that money, i know many do but i am sure some companies have paid this sum and ending up with a loss.
May 3, 201015 yr That in my opinion is crazy to pay, you would have to sell alot of products to re coup that money, i know many do but i am sure some companies have paid this sum and ending up with a loss. I know that's a hugh amount of money but the only company that advertise there will be well-known brand so they are willing to sustain a single modest loss to advertise their product. Small-Medium Business will advertise the other way.
