Wow, the song at #1 is a blatant rip off of Bleeding Love

Boooooo, get Satellite back to #1! What's with the random re-entry for the 90's happy hardcore song at #7?

Mehrzad Marashi is the winner of Deutschland Sucht Den Superstar (The German Pop Idol) and there were several campaigns to block Marashi to get to number 1 with his first single after the show.

One of them was to get Boomerang to number 1 and the other one was Stairway To Heaven.

If there is any Cheryl sales I'd love a PM :)

Also, can someone explain why Cheryl appear's to have two chart runs? She was at 5 two weeks ago then left the chart, then was a new entry at #6 before falling to #8 this week?

Oh right, nice to see these pointless campaigns don't just exist in the UK then  why didn't they just get behind Satellite? Surely it had more chance than anything else of blocking it from #1! I love that the UK pick a metal song for our campaign and Germany choose a cheesy 90's happy hardcore song

I don't really know what you're talking about tbh :D

Here is her run with Fight For This Love. She never left the chart.

Chart Run: 5-5-7-4-6-5-6-8

Obviously Germany have better taste then :P

But not as much people power seeing as it only got to #7 versus #1 for Rage Against The Machine.

I obviously wouldn't have picked Killing In The Name if I was behind the campaign to stop X Factor, but I wouldn't be sad enough to start one of these things up anyway

Well downloads aren't nowhere near as powerful as they are in the UK, in Germany physical sales are stil very much relevant. Blumchen were #2 all week long on I-Tunes, but I guess not enough to make a huge splash, its dropped pretty fast now so expect a huge tumble.

On here she has two entries:

http://www.musicline.de/de/chartverfolgung...2CCheryl/single

The first goes 5-5-7-4-6-5-Out

And other one then starts the next week going 6-8-

It might just be that website, but I thought that was the official chart site

Have you checked also the dates? :D

The first ones "austritt" (departure) date: 25.04.2010

The second ones entry date: 26.04.2010

This site is a bit misleading, as the first one is the chart positions of the maxi single (solely), the second one is the chart positions, when the 2-track single was released (was released later according to this site than the Maxi single). There wasn't a week off, when Cheryl didn't chart. I don't know why they didn't add together the two releases positions.

PS: thanks for showing this site, this will be very helpful for me for the chart histories ;)

Those campaigns were actually a little chaotic... ^_^

At first, they wanted to buy a song by Tenacious D to get it to #1. But it turned out that it wasn't permitted to chart (well, I had do tell them) as the record label (the same as the Deutschland sucht den Superstar-winner) didn't want it to.

When they had already over 150,000 members in social networks they had to change the song to Led Zeppelin. Then again, they started buying with 2 days delay as the Superstar-download was available right after the show for the first time, but they thought its sales wouldn't be counted for the chart and as I was on vacation on that weekend I couldn't tell them to start immediately.

The Blümchen campaign was actually a counter-action to that other one, started in my home music forum (www.ioff.de), but only just for fun. It was never meant to be that big, but all of a sudden it was all over the media. Now even the CD was re-released and Blümchen did TV appearances for the first time for over 10 years... As you can see, last week was a lot of fun

She did TV performances as Jasmin Wagner (in her real name), wasn't she? She had some minor hits too.

Yep, but now she performed as Blümchen again...

I should be ashamed, but I bought Blümchen - Herzfrequenz. She was pretty big in Hungary when I was 16-17 :D
Oooh, Youtube link anywhere? I loved Blümchen back in the day but could never find her music here, I bought the English version of Herzfrequenz (Heartbeat) in Japan 4 years ago tho

Yan's German chart comments - Issue date 30.04

Once again history in the making for the German singles chart, with the biggest news not the new number one but the campaigns launched against the latest winner of Deutschland sucht den Superstar (DSDS) to top the countdown. Some may say that such efforts are more or less stupid or prove nothing. However, the biggest benefit from them is the fact that the singles chart has once again become a hot public issue and a subject for a lot of media and internet discussions. And as we have yet another week with only a few new entries, most of them outside the top 40, I think the time is quite ripe for changes to be implemented in the German charts and the way they are calculated. (Or at least VIVA has to change the way it sets up its playlist and not to only play the top 30, but that's another matter).

Back to chart then. The campaigns have failed and Mehrzad Marashi takes the crown with his "Don't Believe" debut single. Mehrad enters the chart less than a year after the latest winner of DSDS Daniel Schuhmacher was its king (and later failed to have any considerable impact on it with his two follow-up singles). I still have no opinion on the song itself, as the video is not quite ready, and thus cannot predict whether Mehrzad is the new Mark Medlock (doubt it) or the new Tobias Regner.

Thus Lena has to retreat to the number two position after being at the top for six weeks.

The second new song in the chart comes in at #7 from Jasmin Wagner aka Blumchen and her "Boomerang", a hit originally released in 1996 when it reached #11. As it became clear this was one of the campaigns to stop Mehrzad from taking the crown. Hate it or love, the appearance of "Boomerang" in the top 100 brings a lot of memories at least for me and the glorious music days during the 1990s...

The second campaign concerns a real classic at #15, coming from Led Zeppelin's "Stairway To Heaven". Originally released in 1971, the song has never been a proper single and only charted as a download at the lower end of the German chart two years ago. During times when Tina Turner's "The Best" is at #9 in UK, the entry of Led Zeppelin in the German top 20 should not surprise anyone...

Not much going on in the top 40, apart from Gossip who climb again!!! and the Frauenarzt & Manny Marc's "Atzin" gaining in momentum after initially failing to set the charts on fire.

The highest real new entries (sorry Mehrzad) come in at #42 from Saphir (the members of the new German girl band come from a live contest of German TV Kika) and #43 from Kate Nash (the amazing comeback single of Kate follows not so impressive career in Germany, with "Foundations" being her biggest single by peaking at #47).

Glashaus, the former group of Cassandra Steen, release a second single from their latest album and once again fail to reach the top 40...

As long as the albums chart is concerned, we have rock veterans AC/DC and their soundtrack to blockbuster Iron Man 2 taking the top position. The band's previous album "Black Ice" was also at the top some two years ago.

42 01 Saphir - Orchester In Mir // Isn't it Christina Stürmer's song by the way? <_<
