Yeah well that's quite likely to happen :kink: Really the host should have voted first but never mind :heehee:

 

How could he beat Ben, who'd voted 3 hours after the final opened or me in less than one day (for the record, almost two weeks later there's nothing I'd change about my votes!) I don't think the host should have to vote first, would be a lot of pressure considering how quickly some of us vote!

I thought it's quite obvious that unless there's 'Fairytale' here in BJSC (which isn't likely seeing that people are in much doubt about who's gonna win!) points would be FAR more widespread and the winner would be lucky to have more than 200 points!

It's interesting to see there isn't one country in particular that's being paraded as the winner before the results even begin. :o

 

Probably because now that the format has been changed people aren't certain how the new format will effect the results.

 

I hope everyone votes.......why would you hope someone doesn't vote? :S

To secure myself more votes :kink: Actually not like that, it's just others are 'pop voters' so i am quite selfish as usual :lol:

Mark them all out of 10 or something, then go back over the ones with a similar score and compare them. If you can compare 10, then you can compare 50 or a 100, or a 1000.

I'm using my same three colour system I've always used. Have been listening to the songs on shuffle for the past two weeks so am usually pretty familiar with all of them by this point and am now labelling them; Pink - No way it's gonna score points from me, Yellow - I loove this song it has to get points and Blue - It could score points depending on how many yellows I've got. The trouble is by the time I get to song 35 I've forgotten what song I liked and disliked and am pretty sure I'm only just hearing some of the songs for the first time right now!!! I just can't remember them all :cry:

The other advantage of the new system is that we won't have to bother with countries who DNQd and didn't vote!

I can give you a set of votes by then but would quite like to give quite a few more songs a full listen before I'm 100% certain so might be a wee bit late if that's ok?

The Maths perhaps suggest otherwise:

 

Old format: Say 48 countries enter with 30 qualifying for Final. Old points format (12-10-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1) 58 Points available to give out per country.

 

So 58/30 = 1.933 * 48 = 92.8 average for those 30 Finalists.

 

BJSC 26 format: 48 countries participating. This points format (18-15-13-12-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1) 124 Points available to give out per country.

 

So 124/48 = 2.583 * 48 = 124 average for the 48 participants.

- Now for a special announcement by 'Taemin Palmer', Head of the Committe for Internal Selection and Independent adjudicator for New Caprican.

The New Caprican people adore their Top 8, and shown by various Yougov polls, and the way they have dominated the New Caprican Hot 100 chart, that they are by far are the countries favourite disoveries from the contest. There were a few songs that could have made NC's Top 5, but voting trends suggest, that despite being bookies favourites, the fact that they are already well known and successfull in the NC charts have had a negative impact on peoples' votes, and those songs failed to crack the Top 15, shocking the public. Overall, the sheer number of votes, high percentages and constant swapping in the earlier stages of the voting, show just how big an impact they have had on the public. It wasn't until this morning, when voting lines closed, that the songs settled into an order. Due to some of the songs gathering a cult following in New Caprica, had the voting been exteneded a few more days, the Top 15, especially places 10-15, could have been completetly different. I now present to the rest of the BJCS world, the results of our voting. The results have been translated into pop bars, to show how close it really was. It took until the 31st song until the pop bars started to drop below 50%; the full voting results will be posted, after the final results of the contest have been announced in Croztburg, Hendinia: I'm sure that our people will be glued to their TV screens, watching in their millions, for the outcome of our very first BJSC!

I don't mind, I'd preferably have the votes in at least before I come of the computer tonight, which will probably be like 11:30. :)

My system (post banlist introduction) is to score songs out of 10 to the 0.5 point on first listen.

 

The songs that are in the frame for the points I listen to again (and often again and again) to see if they move up or down my pointage system. Then any ties I split by a mixture of order of personal listening preference, or if it is a really tight call I give the most inspired track selection (i.e. never heard of song/act before this contest) the higher points.

My system of rating each song out of 10 was easily applied to the new format so I had no problems, in fact if anything I found it easier seeing as we now have five more countries that we can give points to. Most of the rubbish usually thrown out in the semis, so I can't say it's massively better quality at the top end than usual. 2 weeks was a massive amount of time to listen to 48 songs as well - 3 per day if you like!

 

However, part of me does still miss the semis despite all of the advantages the 'big final' has.

Oh, i completely forgot aboput the new points system! Epicfail nummer en tusen og tio :drama: But still i think that it'd be considered as quite an achievement if the Silly Boy record gets beaten... Just for the fact that there're more songs to choose from!

This is my exact system down to a tee as well. If I know that I really won't ever like a song, I'll only listen to it the once before discarding it. If 4 or 5 songs are tied within my rating band, I will always give preference to new discoveries/inspired entries, and the song on the radio playlist or whatever will fall right down to the bottom of the band. If this means that said radio playlisted song is a 10/10 record, and I only have two 10/10's that month, then it will still get my 2nd most points. But if it's a 9/10 and I have 7 other 9/10 records, it moves right down to the bottom of the pack.
