However, Kylie's not the big name she was 10-20 years ago, I could see this missing the top 20 altogether on downloads. Very few of the artists around from her heyday are able to still sell loads of downloads to compete with the R&B/Hip-Hop domination that the youth of today downloads in their thousands.

That's because those types of acts (assuming you're referring to artists like Depeche Mode and Pet Shop Boys etc) aren't considered relevant and thus aren't playlisted anywhere (sadly). In that respect Kylie will be fine, she is still considered a huge name.

Kylie in my opinion is still a big name and in the last decade had 15 top 10 singles and 5 top 6 albums all of which sold quite well, kylie still has huge radio play, sell out concerts so she can still pull huge hits of the bag, amazingly this was the same woman about 11 years ago was completly written off as a has being and she proved all those critics 100% wrong and came back with a bigger bang than ever before.

Plus she has a very loyal fanbase who  her!

BTW, her video is now finally starting to appear on the Sky music channels. :yahoo:

I like it, apart from the bit at about 2:45 when it sounds like they've just thrown every instrument they could lay their hands on all over the top of each other.

Kylie is far bigger now than she was 10-20 years ago. In fact she is one of only a handful of acts from 20 year ago who is even relevant now

I sense hesitations from the Kylie nation - this song is so much better recieved than "2 Hearts" & "Slow", but I do think some random song will unjustly block this from #1. :(

Slow...her second best no. 1

I heard it 4 times on the radio today and was delighted to see it getting played so much and each dj that played it was full of praise for it aswell.

It will. Simon Cowell has ensured that with Dizzee Rascal & James Corden 'Shout For England', as Bray mentioned.

No, I can't see it myself - however popular rap may be with the young, it will have minimal appeal to the wider audience needed for football songs to sell in chart-topping quantities.

Dizzee Rascal has quite large fanbase...Four no. 1's in two years

Which hardly guarantees they'll want to buy a footy song, though...

Well Dizzee & James are apparantly performing the track during tonights BGT live final. Simon Cowell knows what he's doing. Same with JLS - as much as I hate their new single, both have the potential to sell over 100k first week. Radio 1 is backing 'Shout For England' and JLS will be A listed within the next fortnight.

A seriously dire year for UK no. 1 singles. It's not going to improve either when you consider the next X Factor season is fast approaching.

If it was released tomorrow I'd agree. There's still a good chance it can debut at number 1 next week but Kylie can still claim number 1 either the following week or the next week again when the physical is released

How horrible that such an atrocious record might beat her to #1...

And the 2000s I think were Kylie's most successful decade yet both in term of sales and musical output so she is clearly still relevant.

Assuming fans can *find* anywhere that sells it - the last local shop that sold CD singles (HMV) has now stopped.

Yes, I know you can order physical singles on-line - but to me, that rather defeats the object of *not* downloading them...

It is released tomorrow for download (I assume).

The physical is released on Wednesday. It was brought forward due to the 'huge demand' for it.

I think it's a number one single... but..... it's a pretty mediocre return and not as storming as I was hoping for. Still, the album cover's really stunning....

In that case, it can still top the chart and drop quickly allowing Kylie to take top honours :)

Its not the thought of Kylie missing out on #1 that bothers me, so much as *what* might beat her. What would be worst of all though, is if her total was enough to *normally* get her to #1, yet still missed out... :(

ISTM it would be simpler if Kylie just reverted to the originally intended release date - 28th June.

As I said in the iTunes thread, you can't release a song 2 1/2 hours after England's first match at the World Cup finishes and expect it to be number one....

I don't mind the song though to be honest, but I don't think it's that great. I preferred '2 Hearts', although having said that I prefer that to all of her singles.
