May 16, 201015 yr Author Gavin Ryan Chart Commentary (Thanks to Gavin Ryan) Singles Usher stays at No.1 for a second week with his track "OMG" (DL:1 hold, Phys: 3 hold), now doubling his original stay at No.1, as "Yeah" debuted at No.1 and stayed there for only a week back in late March of 2004, kicked off by Eamon the next week, who had entered at No.2 behind Usher the prior week. Another RnB act, but this one from the other side of the Atlantic makes his rush for the top spot, English act Taio Cruz jumps thirteen places to No.2 with his first Australian chart entry "Break Your Heart" (DL: 13 to 2), and possibly soon first chart-topper. All three leapers into the Top 10 are all RnB acts who all leaps double-figures. Eminem's new track "Not Afraid" (DL: 14 to 4) is up twelve places to No.4, and B.o.B. feat Paramore lead singer Hayley Williams is up eleven places to No.7 on "Airplanes" (DL: 15 to 7). Former No.1 for Brian McFadden, "Just Say So" (DL: 2 to 3) is down one place to No.3, and last weeks number three from B.o.B. and Bruno Mars, "Nothin' on You" (DL: 3 to 5) is down two places to No.5 this week. Jason DeRulo's third Top 10 "Ridin' Solo" (DL: 4 to 6) climbs to a new peak of No.6, and the rest of the Top 10 is made up of Train and their "Hey, Soul Sister" (DL: 5 to 8, Phys: 6 to 10) at No.8, Lady GaGa and her new man "Alejandro" (DL: 7 to 9) are at No.9 and holding on at No.10 is Adam Lambert's "Whataya Want from Me" (DL: 9 to 10, Phys: 8 to 9). The Top 10 says goodbye to Vanessa Amorosi's "Mr. Mysterious" (DL: 8 to 12), down eight places to No.12, Justin Bieber's "Baby" (DL: 6 to 11) is down six places to No.11 and Richard Vission's "I Like That" (DL: 11 to 20) drops six places to No.16. NEW PEAKS: Ke$ha climbs a few places with her latest track "Your Love is My Drug" (DL: 16 to 13), now up to No.13, and also climbing a few places is Yolanda Be Cool with "We No Speak Americanos" (DL: 19 to 15), up to No.17. David Guetta was at No.20 a few weeks back with "Gettin' Over You" (DL: 27 to 18), and this week he scores a new peak at No.18 with that track. Sean Kingston and Justin Bieber take "Eenie Meenie" (DL: 21 to 19) up to a new peak of No.21, and Stan Walker's recent promos have helped his new track "Unbroken" (DL: 31 to 23, Phys: 4 hold) to climb up six places to No.24. The biggest climber of the week goes to local group Amy Meredith and their new track "Lying" which jumps up forty-one places to land at No.27 (possibly helped by their new naughty video-clip). Right behind them at No.28 is the latest track from the Glee Cast, their version of Madonna's "Like a Prayer" (DL: 27 debut) is up twenty-four places to No.28, plus they also debut at No.99 with their rendition of her "Like a Virgin" track. Along with Amy Meredith and the Glee Gang, Rihanna also jumps into the Top 50, this time with "Te Amo" (DL: 35 debut) which is up twenty-five places to No.35. Two local acts break out of their 40's holding patterns and also score new peaks this week, with Jet and "Seventeen" up a couple of places to No.38, and KissChasy up six places to a new peak of No.39 with "Dinosaur" (DL: 43 to 40). The 20th ARIA Singles Chart appearance for Christina Aguilera is the highest new entry of the week, coming in at No.22 is "Not Myself Tonight" (DL: 32 to 25, Phys: 6 debut). It's the lead single from her June due fourth album "Bionic" and is her first appearance on the charts since September 2008's No.26 single "Keeps Gettin' Better", which was taken from her Greatest Hits collection also called "Keeps Gettin' Better". Below Top 50: Angus and Julia Stone fly up twenty-two places to land at No.51 with their latest track "Big Jet Plane". Former UK No.1 from Scouting for Girls called "This Ain't a Love Song" is up twenty-eight places to No.55. Sydney five-piece Boy & Bear debut at No.66 with their first chart entry, the EP "With Emperor Antarctica" (Phys: 2 debut). Another local act with a new EP is Brisbane's Washington (led by Megan Washington), and they debut at No.70 with their "Rich Kids (EP) (Phys: 1 debut)". Three more locals also debut, with Orianthi scoring her second chart hit by debuting at No.85 with "Shut Up & Kiss Me", Powderfinger enter at No.87 with "Sail the Wildest Stretch", and The Rogue Traders are in at No.95 with their new single "Would You Raise Your Hands?" (Phys: 11 to 12), which they performed at the Logies two weeks ago and on 'Hey Hey' this past week. Albums The follow-on from the Mothers Day sales is reflected in this weeks chart, as k.d. Lang's "Recollection" set retains the No.1 spot for a third week, with Susan Boyle holding at No.2 with "I Dreamed a Dream", and jumping up six places to No.3 is Michael Buble's "Crazy Love" album. AC/DC's soundtrack for "Iron Man 2" holds at No.4, with Justin Biebers former No.1 "My Worlds" down two places to No.5, pushing Lady GaGa's "The Fame Monster" down one place to No.6. David Campbell's "On Broadway" stays steady at No.7, Mark Vincent's "Compass" is down two places to No.8, and last weeks highest new entry from Andre Rieu, "You Raise Me Up" falls back one place to No.9. The only entry to the Top 10 is the recently broadcast Madonna episode of Glee (which has its own whole album), "Glee: The Power of Madonna" is up eleven places to No.10 to become the gang's third Top 10 album. Other Mothers Day themed albums see big rises this week, with David Hobson's "Enchanted Way" up seven places to No.18, Tina Arena's "Live: The Onstage Collection" up thirty places to No.22. P!nk's "Funhouse" album is up fourteen places to No.14, and Sara Storer's best of collection "Calling Me Home" is up sixteen places to No.29. Supergroup The Dead Weather score the highest new entry of the week, as their second album "Sea of Cowards" enters at No.28. The group is made up of Alison Mosshart (The Kills), Jack White (The White Stripes), Dean Fertita (Queens of the Stone Age) and Jack Lawrence (The Greenhornes), and the lead single from the album is called "Die by the Drop". Their first album from July of 2009 was the No.48 album "Horehound". US group The Nationals score their first ARIA Album Chart entry with their fifth album "High Violet" which debust at No.41. Also entering with their fifth album are UK group Unkle, and their latest is called "Where Did the Night Fall" which is in at No.69. And lastly another UK act debut, Foals are in at No.79 with their second album "Total Life Forever". With the recently announced Metallica tour of Australia for October, some of the groups previous albums are moving back up the charts. Their classic self-titled album "Metallica" is the biggest climbing album of the week, up forty-nine places to No.48, whilst their last album "Death Magnetic" creeps back in this week to No.94. Expect more of their back catalogue to chart around tour time (as it has done before).
