Yuk :puke2: what are they wearing!

and it also looks like they have recycled a bit of Robbies Close Encounter stage in the background

You can just see 'ickle Markie' peeping out from behind Howard just in case Neva spots him.

I am in absolute and total agreement with you. I'll get back to you later (we've got a Fray Bentos Chicken Curry pie in the oven and some home made chips in the chip-pan on the go) as I really want to discuss this. I don't want to have a rant at Rob about this as I see him as an innocent party in it.

I'll be back!

Norma

I'm back! And my! That was a mighty fine pie!

Anyway ... I think I've said before ... unless you are in total agreement you are a pariah on the OTT site now. Only 'nice' posts are allowed. Sure ... you're allowed to say you don't think they should re-form as long as you end with something 'but if its what the lads want' blah, blah, blah. None of them see that this is a step backwards, whilst at the same time hoping that they 'do the Beatles Medley'. The Beatles Medley was cack-bloody-cack. It was the only part of the Ultimate Tour that I felt absolutely embarrassed by! Thank god they dropped it for the following tours and thank heaven's they didn't win that 'special 30 year Brit' award for it. I was hoping that the next tour - even as a foursome - would only retain RMF, Never Forget and BFG - from the first time - and the rest songs from BW, the Circus and their new album.

Anyway, tis done now. I did think a little decency would have been shown in them waiting before urging fans to pre-order on the site but not ... the minute the site is up and running ... its 'buy, buy, buy'.

Rant over ... and I'm sorry for chewing your ears off!

Norma

Glad you enjoyed the pie - had an amazing roast beef myself. ^_^

People are really saying they want the return of the dreaded Beatles medley? Oh dear - it really will be a comedy show as one of the fans pointed out in that previous article. Those medleys were beyond appauling - I am sure alot of those hoping it is sung no doubt think they were even better than the Bealtes originals though - I had a quick glance on the OS and saw some of the suggestions for the support for the tour and judging by some suggestions the fans (among them being professional mimmers JLS and likewise Cheryl )are obviously hoping the tour will be the cheesiest of cheese - I am sure they will be using mops as props and no doubt the jelly will make a return as well - there will be more to laugh at than at the top quality stand up show.

Could it be magic? It’s Robbie vs Robbie

One of the year’s most intriguing chart battles will see Robbie Williams solo go up against Robbie Williams as a member of Take That for the Christmas albums crown.

The singer had already created global headlines when he announced earlier this year that he had been writing with Take That colleague Gary Barlow, with the two new collaborations – Shame and Heart And I – appearing on Williams’ new best-of, In And Out of Consciousness, due for release by Virgin on October 11.

But this was small beer compared to the tabloid frenzy last Thursday, when Williams confirmed he would be rejoining Take That, who he famously left in 1995 amid a sea of acrimony.

The reunion took place in New York last September, following Take That’s The Circus Live tour. All five band members have written songs for a new, as-yet-untitled album, which will come out in November a month after the Williams release.

The album, which has been produced by Madonna collaborator Stuart Price, will come out on Polydor, with whom the reformed Take That have enjoyed notable chart success.

Polydor president Ferdy Unger-Hamilton says the Take That album is “a very modern sounding record.” “It has what Take That do and what Robbie Williams does,” he says. “I think it is the musical event of the year and also an absolutely brilliant album. It is going to surprise some people. It is very cutting-edge.”

What is more, Unger-Hamilton says the timing of the two albums’ release will be complementary rather than competitive. “The plan was put together by the band,” he says. “It is really brilliant, succinct.”

His view is backed by an insider from the Williams camp, who says, “We are not at all concerned about the scheduling as we actually believe this is going to be a Robbie Williams/Take That Christmas. We believe both will do incredibly well. We’ve got a really great promotional plot for Robbie Williams, which we’re very confident about, and we then, of course, go into Take That.”

The reunion is said to be intended for just one year, with plans for a huge stadium tour next summer. However, with the best-of fulfilling Williams’ obligations to EMI under his current deal, all eyes will be on his next move.

Unger-Hamilton says Williams is a “brilliant, great British artist but I am really, really overjoyed to have him as a part of Take That and that’s enough”.

I hated that beatles medley,,,surely they have gone past that....cheese beyond belief :o

I've heard some TT fans claim the album has already broke pre-order records - I am not what site that was on but on Amazon the album is at #7 with the Rob's new Greatest Hits at #6 -while on Play.com I can't see the album on the pre-order chart although it is definatly available there - the GH is at #4. I've no doubt HMV and others will combine in the two albums in some sort of s special package for Christmas

Why does the thought make me quite sick. And yet ... it doesn't surprise - the money-grabbing bast*rds.

There's talk of any single Robbie and his backing band releasing will be number one this Christmas. I've never bought an X-Factor single in my life ... but I may do this year.

Come on! Is there any doubt really that TT&Rob's single will be better (I certainly hope it is not just better, well the popeye the sailor-man outfit doesn't help at all) than the X-factor?

And if X-factor releases at christmas don't take it for granted TT can beat them, neither Robbie nor TT have ever managed that in the past (Bleeding love? Bad Boys? ...) and it will be the major XF release which goes platinum first week! With the albums out and taking into acount they are not the best single sellers it is wishfull thinking to believe then can do that.

I am on TT's side , I cannot work with the devil :teresa:

I was only joking about buying an X-F single!

Take That aren't bad at single-sellers (IWFL notwithstanding). The two lead singles from BW went straight to number 1 and the truly weak Greatest Day went straight to number 1 too. Even thought UAN (the BEST song from The Circus) only peaked at 14 ... its sales were actually quite good ... better than some songs that have got to number 1. No ... on the singles front ... it'll probably be Rob holding them back from a number 1 ... I believe it is he who has that particular difficulty ... also for albums lately if I'm not mistaken.

But we forget ... JLS release their new album at the same time!

My ... what an exciting end of year for us music lovers!

Norma

Not a hope in hell will JLS outsell the take that and robbie album, their album is a sure cert for number 1 and if it doesnt debut at number 1 i will run through london naked!!! The only wuestion for the take that album is how much will it sell and not will it get to number 1.

 Pete you are funny when you're angry!

Norma

The album will be huge. I reckon sales of about 2,5-3,5 million in the UK and Ireland plus 1-1,5 million in Europe.

So Robbie Williams is back with his band. Well, take that ! Or rather, put it in your pipe and take a puff of one the biggest money spinners to hit the dilapidated music industry in years.

But as the original line up of Britain’s biggest ever boyband toast their reunion, I wonder if they’re going to call their £50m album and tour deal something snappy. Desperation sounds a pretty good title.

For it has to be desperation, or sheer madness (another potential title) that has driven the decision to welcome Robbie Williams back to the fold. Why else would this cynically commercial rejuvenation ever come to pass ?

The history of Take That has always been a chequered one. Gary Barlow, the gifted Cheshire-born songwriter had to fight his demons (and his chubby waist line) when his former band mate shot to impossible heights of super stardom after quitting the band, leaving the remaining members to implode and Barlow’s subsequent solo career to falter.

And then, in 2005 and with beautiful irony, the remaining quartet were given a second chance. An ITV documentary about Take That relit their fire and reminded fans what they had been missing. Ironically Robbie Williams decided against appearing alongside his old muckers. But it didn’t matter. Their disappointment melted when the other four reinvented themselves as a man band and were stupendously successful in terms of creative output and live performances.

Meanwhile, the Robbie Williams end of pier show eventually spluttered into decline, with the blubbery showman looking particularly spooky when he appeared on The X Factor last year.

I’ve never been a huge Robbie fan. Sure, some of his work is passably good. But to inflict funeral favourite Angels on the world was an unforgivable sin.

So why are the lads taking this capricious character back now ?

Surely they can’t be so desperate for a few quid that they’d compromise their new-found coming of age by taking the unpredictable Williams back for good ( or even a year).

Then again, Take That have recently been confounding popular belief, emerging as not quite the lads we thought they were.

First, Oldham’s cutesy-wutesy Mark Owen has allegedly been unmasked as an inveterate womaniser who couldn’t keep his hands off booze or bits on the side (one of whom eloquently opened up in yesterday’s papers).

Then we find Gary Barlow, a man who once wore his northern, working class credentials as a badge of honour, reinvented as a poster boy for the Tories, happily campaigning alongside David Cameron.

What other shockers await? Howard Donald can actually sing ? (Sorry, that takes sarcasm too far).

Will the real Take That stand up? But if they do, and they include Robbie Williams among them, it can surely only end in tears. The dynamic will change, and the new bandmate, with his taste of solo mega stardom and a poor track record for loyalty and team spirit, is likely to unglue the secure partnership.

This is a mad move and even though the cash tills will be ringing to the sound of their singing, I just can’t see Williams in that man band suit. Nor can I imagine Gary Barlow containing himself when his old pal gets the loudest screams.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

I wasnt angry when posting that poat earlier Norma, i was been realistic, i know you are not happy about the re union nor are you happy about take that since gary got involved with politics and i think your disapointment with that has but the blinkers on your opinions in many ways, anyone who think the album wontget to number 1 is living in cloud cuckoo land and i dont think i need to angry to see that.

I agree - JLS will sell far less than their first album unless of course the second single is a masterpiece - as their new single is beyond awful - however I do think if Brian (or Byan) McFadden were to rejoin Westlife for their new album, also released in November and ironically produced by the producer of TT's last two albums, John Shanks, then Rob, Gaz and the others could be a big trouble. ;) I can honestly see this whole thing leading to a Ms Louise Walsh becoming TT's new manger!

With regard to how much it will sell - I think realistically although obviously a huge amount of fans on both sides say they are against it and won't buy it - at the end of the day fans online only make up a minority - the more casual fans of both artists will buy it in their droves unless the lead single is some sort of rap number - with the massive hype and no doubt overload of promotion on the XF and probably TV specials etc - I can see it possibly hitting half a million first week sales - as most of those 400k+ who bought The Circus first week will buy this, I would think possibly near half or so of the near quater of a mill people who bought RKTVS first week will also buy this - and also more casual acts of both acts may be more eager to hear the album than usual so will buy it first week. I am sure it will be very cheap and on special in supermarkets as well. It won't be BHN by Oasis though, nothing ever will but I can see it topping Coldplay's X&Y quite easily. Until of course the Westlife album is released that is......then we will truly see 'Thriller' all over again. :D

Edited by De Niro

Do Westlife actually sell anymore

Robbie and TT faced little competition in album sales in the past years, after the reunion I think they will propably sell more then the rest alltogether. If JLS could manage 100k it would be good for them (still bad for music). If Westlife could manage 150k it would be beyond expectations. If the fab5 sell less than 400k on the first week I will consider it a flop! ^_^

I don't believe they could tackle the record though, not unless they have a killer single and 5 covers... If this is the end of TT however (bear in mind they will also tour together in 2011) the album could slowly (well not so slowly) become one of the bestsellers in the UK history.
