May 17, 201015 yr How could Muse go from such a good album (Black Holes) to such a useless one (The Resistance)? And this shows no sign of improvement. I am majorly disappointed at the way they are heading. I think they thought they could just keep churning out serviceable songs (and are still doing it) and unfortunately if you don't change your style very much each time you come back the quality actually has to increase to offset the familiarity. They managed to increase the quality with Black Holes and widen their pallet resulting in what at first seemed like an ok album growing into a great one. Edited May 17, 201015 yr by tonyttt31
May 17, 201015 yr Ah I've found out what it is! At parts it sounds like a stripped down Time Is Running Out but obv Time Is Running Out being miles better.
May 17, 201015 yr My God that is dull and sounds like it could have come from either of the last two albums. He is still employing the same melodic tricks that used to make their songs sound "magnificent" but now just sound like the Muse formula. They need to go minimal next or else we will have Muse-fatigue - which a lot of us have already.
May 17, 201015 yr Author Matt said it was written after he split up with his girlfriend 8 months ago. He said the band weren't sure if it would fit in with their next album as they might be in a different place then so the Twilight opportunity was a good time to use it. He also said they won't start work on the album for a very long time. He also mentioned one of the supports for their UK stadium gigs is very 'special' and it is a female guest. Any guesses? As for the song, it's not up to the standard I expect from them but I do like it.
May 17, 201015 yr Author Could be :o Didn't think of her, although to be honest I can't really think of anyone
May 18, 201015 yr Well that was underwhelming, all that build up for this song?! Hopefully Metric's new song isn't as disappointing.
May 18, 201015 yr I dont like it really, sounds far too "we want to be Queen" like even more so than on The Resistance. I wish they would just annouce the UK support, what is "special" about them though? if its someone like Florence then im dissapointed by lack of specialness.
May 18, 201015 yr Florence seems likely, is there anyone else big enough? I wondering Paramore mainly out of wishful thinking, since they're only playing Dublin and Paris supporting Green Day and not Manchester :( I assumed Biffy would be supporting Muse for some reason
May 18, 201015 yr Biffy supported last time they did Wembley so I dont think they want to repeat themseleves. its jsut the way he uses the word "special" then its not someone very special if they are playing everywhere at the momment (like flourence).
May 18, 201015 yr Author Manchester Lancashire County Cricket Ground - 4th September Muse Editors The Temper Trap Pulled Apart By Horses London Wembley Stadium - 10th September Muse Lily Allen The Big Pink White Rabbits London Wembley Stadium - 11th September Muse Biffy Clyro White Lies I Am Arrows Really disappointed :(
May 18, 201015 yr im disappointed aswell, Biffy never play there good songs anymore, infact last time I saw them live the only non-Puzzle song they played was 57 and the atmosphere was lame, really put me off them. and I Am Arrows are $h!t. Hopefully White Lies will be good.
May 18, 201015 yr It could be worse. When I went to see Muse in Belfast they had The Noisettes as support. They were terrible (and this was pre-Don't Upset the Rhythm)
May 18, 201015 yr Author Bored of White Lies. Seen them about 4-5 times and at best they'll only have one or two new songs.
May 18, 201015 yr When I saw them last year in Dublin they had NO support. which was great. I'm too old to be standing up for that long. I like the Manchester line up. I might go to that. Edited May 18, 201015 yr by tonyttt31
May 19, 201015 yr This isn't just taking off in the UK - I think it's also top 5 on iTunes in Norway & Sweden :o Possibly other places, but I've only checked them two
